  1. I think it's not bad as far as spoilers go because the game is so heavy handed with Sothis' identity and the fact that every fire emblem game has had some green haired girl as a divine being. This just helps lay the ground work from the beginning and acts more as a nice Easter egg.
  2. I think story wise the game is a mixed bag too. I also did Golden Deer and while for the most part it felt really good as if we were the band of rebels from Star Wars, there were times that it felt like the game favored the Black Eagles as the real storyline. Several missions where you kill some big important person from an opposing faction ends with a "oh btw, he left this letter for you" which explains where you need to go next. It just cheapened the victory a bit. Again, nothing that makes me hate this game, just was disappointing. The other issue I had was the graphics. This is leaps and bounds from any other fire emblem game and has all voice acting (which is excellent btw). But now that Fire Emblem has entered this realm of graphics, certain aspects look weird because I'm sure IS isn't used to thinking about this. A lot of units look like unblinking dolls that just stare off into space as you talk. It's insanely unnerving, especially with someone like Hilda who has huge eyes already. Body and facial direction would go a long way to fixing these problems. I give IS a pass on this though, because in every other fire emblem game they were working with just still shot portraits in cutscenes or supports. While I love the monastery exploring, it does become rather tedious about halfway in. I was actually disappointed that we came back to it after the time jump as I figured the game would open up more. Instead we have really weird moments in the story where we capture some important place, say we need to press our advance, and then head back to the monastery for a month. Makes me laugh more than cringe and I do need excuses to repair weapons, promote units, and run supports. I just wish the excuses were a bit more well thought out. I'm not a fan of Byleth as a character or avatar. He/she just comes across as super boring with all their dialogue options (the exception being any time they mention ghosts in the monastery). And yet everyone is falling on their face for them. I thought Corrin's bizarre love was bad in Fates, but at least Corrin kind of had a personality. Anyway, these are all small in the grand scheme and I think that they will probably be fixed in the next Fire Emblem game. Right now, Three houses has made some crazy strides in the series and I'm not going to let a few growing pains ruin how fun the gameplay is and how great the support conversations are. Oh man, I should end on a positive. The support conversations are above and beyond the best the series has had. No stupid Kellum and Lissa "I liked your pie, want to get married" kind of supports. These are all so well written that nothing feels wasted. Characters I thought I would hate have shined through tremendously because of how they interact with others in their support conversations. And the paralogues too, which I might add is where the real challenge of the game seems to go. I haven't had so much anxiety in a mission than in Marianne's paralogue.
