  1. I actually did use a mage Edelgard for my first playthrough. Though this was before the release of the deal sees in her final class became Mortal Savant because she lacked high skill in riding and it is very difficult to get her with enough faith for gremory. But I did also make her the dancer after mastering the mage class. They are still capable of using magic and if you are planning to use a levin sword, dancer, provides a combat art that scales with her charisma, and Edelgard has the highest charisma growth in the game. She doesn't even have to really and much time as a dancer as she just needs to qualify for the combat art. Thing with Edelgard as a mage is that she will be relatively bulky and have quite a decent strength growth anyway in comparison to other mages. So, she is a natural fit for a warrior mage. Someone capable of dealing both magical and physical damage. I just wish that the emperor class played more into this role as it is what makes Edelgard unique in comparison to the other Lords. Unlike Dimitri and Claude she actually has a decent potential for magic as well as significantly higher resistance growth.
  2. So I managed to get the brave versions of the Edelgard, Dimitri, Lysithea and Claude. Would a version of Dimitri with a flaw in HP and an asset in resistance be decent? It is the only version I have for now. I do think that Edelgard and Dimitri are rather good with their base skill set, but I would appreciate some tips for Claude and Lysithea. And I would like to ask if anyone thinks that Aether might be a superior special for Edelgard, it is more powerful, but it has a longer cooldown
  3. I do think Edelgard, the real question is can a version of Edelgard, who never learns to open up to people actually defeat the Agarthans or would they forever more have strings tied to her Empire? Another factor would also be if the war takes longer than in the standard timelines, which it might. Edelgard is trying to bury just how much the atrocities of war is affecting her under her ice queen demeanour, but if this goes on for long enough without any real progress made, maybe she would eventually decide this isn't worth it. Which could result in the war ending in a stalemate. That is if the Agarthans would even allow her to quit, so I am uncertain what would actually happen in such a timeline. Because if the Agarthans still have power in the Empire at this time, Edelgard deciding to stop her war with the kingdom and the alliance could lead to a civil war within the Empire between Edelgard and her "uncle". It is important to remember that there are factions within the Empire that demand war, regardless of if Edelgard has changed her mind or not
  4. Yeah, the thing is, it might not actually matters who win the war, by the very act of starting this conflict, Edelgard has brought people's attention to the problem with the crest system, and that it needs fixing. Regardless of who wins Fodlan always becomes a better place than it was before the war. Some would say that Edelgard always loses, I would say the opposite, Edelgard is always successful in some manner, even when she loses. I think Edelgard would be okay with giving her life, if it meant the end of the crest system and a better future for Fodlan. I hope that Dimitri in the end honoured the memory of the real Edelgard, and not the scapegoat created to deal with his trauma.
  5. I just wanted to tell you this, I am really glad you like Edelgard so much. I would really recommend Azure Moon , even if I never could fully get behind Dimitri, it did make me understand him better however and the route also have a lot of sweet flashbacks between Dimitri and Edelgard while they were young, their old friendship actually makes their future as mortal enemies really tragic
  6. Thanks, the wbs version worked. Only issue is quite bad audio distortion, but that seems related to performance issues
  7. So I managed to get summer Ingrid and Byleth/Rhea. Sadly, with a speed flaw and a attack asset and a attack flaw and Res asset respectively. Which isn't brilliant. Also have a Laevatein with an HP flaw and a Res asset. Any suggestions on how to build these three units? Ingrid already seems to be a pretty strong mixed phase unit out of the gate. While I am at it, I also managed to get the original Sothis and was wondering what would be a good build for her (Speed asset and HP flaw)
  8. I am uncertain, but could there be a connection between the rom being a NKIT ISO instead of a regular ISO and the game not working? In most cases, the roms aren't detected at all as I think the file type is wrong.
  9. Trying to get Radiant Dawn to work on a Dolphin Emulator. I only get a black screen when trying to start the rom, And I have have idea why. Could anyone please help with this? I can however get a 3DS emulator to work with a Awakening Rom. So I have no idea why Dolphin isn't working. Edit: I hope this question is okay to ask here. I was not entirely certain. If asking this is against forum rules, please delete this.
  10. It is just logical it would apply to Edelgard as well as she went went through the same experiments. But Edelgard also do not seem to suffer from physical weakness of any kind, so it is unclear. The closest thing to a hint is found in El's and Lysithea's shared ending where it says something about taking revenge on the Agarthans for their lost years.
  11. Edelgard is hinted to have had a shortened lifespan, but it isn't really explored and is most definatly resolved in all her endings
  12. Thank you, I will do what I can. What was your recommendation for the C slot of female Byleth again? I might actually have the resources to get that now, even if I didn't back then. Might have been attack Smoke, but I don't remember correctly. Does armour stride even exist for any other unit than Edelgard Flame Emperor?
  13. Managed to get Sothis silver spectre, what is a good build for her? She looks like an enemy phase unit
  14. Surprisingly enough, I got Caspar. I wasn't expecting that. I would have expected something more like Hubert
  15. While I am a fan of shipping Edelgard and Byleth, this is more due to Edelgard's reaction to Byleth than Byleth themselves. There is only really one side emoting here, as Byleth doesn't really have much of a character. I also kind of like the design for female Byleth, for some reason she comes off as more expressive than her male counterpart. I wonder what the game would be like without a player insert character. Presumably you would play directly as one of the Lords. I think this would be really cool, but it would require changing quite a bit in white clouds, especially for the Black Eagles. But I think that would only would make the game more interesting. But you also would need to rewrite so that Edelgard has another reason to start opening up to people and Dimitri having another reason to recover from his insanity, but I think this could be done. Whenever we are talking about Edelgard, Dimitri, Claude or whoever we will choose to be the player character for the church route. I think this would allow the player to get closer to these characters than ever before. We would experience their struggles rather than being a simple observer. I have been trying to give Byleth more of a character in the pathfinder game I have been running. As this is set after the end of Crimson Flower, she is a compassionate individual who nevertheless never hesitate to do what she feels needs to be done. (She is a grey paladin to reflect her moral flexibility compared to other holy champions). She recently awoken to strengthened emotions after having a hamper on her emotional life for the majority of her life. Meaning, she is not entirely used to dealing with the full intensity of emotions. As a former mercenary. She is usually very blunt, the opposite of sophisticated and feel more at home with the common folk than the nobility. She essentially serves as the angel on Edelgard's shoulders as opposed to Hubert's devil.
  16. Good to know that Edelgard being one of the only girls that Sylvain doesn't hit on might actually be a good thing for her.
  17. I do think the worst Edelgard could be in my opinion, is a misguided hero, even if she is wrong about the war being worth it, she still doesn't have malicious intent. If people claim that she does I think we are seeing things that aren't there
  18. I guess this would depend on if these people truly believe they are doing the right thing or they are just lying to her followers for personal gain. Or if their actions truly are necessary for the greater good. Yet I would think if someone has good intentions but is mistaken, they are a misguided hero, not a villain. I think there is a distinction as the misguided hero lacks malevolence
  19. I think you hit the nail on the head of why Edelgard inspires hope in me, with how she sees meaning to suffering and death and respect sacrifice. We all know that death is inevitable, but to see someone so boldly embrace dying for the sake of others, and the meaning it grants that sacrifice, it gives meaning to the inevitable death. Also, I am glad that Seteth eventually realises the truth about Edelgard. Silver Snow is the only route I haven't played yet.
  20. Kronya is the most likely Agarthan to turn against her kind in my opinion. If she survived Solon's attempt on her life. I could see her holding a grudge against the higher-ups of her people. Byleth would probably not be willing to work with them unless they have a divine level of forgiveness. I am also not certain if Kronya would be willing to work with surface dwellers. But she might if she is desperate enough for revenge. Disregarding any potential personal attachment to Jeralt, Kronya is in my opinion the least evil of the named Agarthans. While she enjoys her job, she is just an assassin, and I do feel bad for her when she is betrayed by Solon. Makes me wonder if the girl was truly evil, or just made that way from being raised in a brainwashing cult. I have actually invented a character called Kaira for my role-playing game set in Fodlan. Kaira is a clone of Kronya, who was initially sent to Enbarr as a spy. But upon learning the truth of who really killed her sister she turns against her own people and helps Edelgard and the other surface dwellers from the shadows. I guess this is more or less what we could expect from a redeemed Kronya.
  21. I don't even believe in objective morality, so it would be pretty hard for me to claim that my views are objective. Even if deep down I think every human being believe that they are in the right, I just recognise that everyone probably feels that way about their views. Doesn't mean that my views are any more objective than anyone else's. I don't care if people disagree with me, hearing contrary opinions is kind of the point of even having a debate. As stated previously, my goal isn't really to change everyone's mind as I recognise that is impossible. I participate in debates to increase my own understanding and you can only increase understanding by hearing counterpoints to your arguments. I just tend to have a compulsion to correct people when they say something I believe is factually incorrect. But odds are that I have probably made some kind of factual error by some point, as there are a lot of pretty complex characters in this game.
  22. Being into female Byleth definitely counts as being into a girl. Even if it is an exception to the rule. It is also good to know that there are more ways than one to save Lysithea Edelgard is actually naturally a brunette as revealed by certain flashbacks in Azure Moon. But I am so used to her white hair, but it is strange to imagine an older Edelgard with her original hair colour. I have always assumed that either Linhardt or Hanneman managed to cure Edelgard's shortened lifespan by removing the crest of flames. She would probably choose to keep her natural crest of Seiros over the artificial crest of flames, which is attached to so many traumatic memories for her. Assuming she didn't have both removed
  23. Edelgard seems to cure her a shortened lifespan, no matter what. She is mentioned to have lived a long life, even in her solo ending. For Lysithea, I know that pairing her up with Lindhardt will work. I didn't even know that pairing her up with Edelgard would also do the trick. I also kind of view Lysithea and Edelgard as essentially being sisters, I didn't think their ending was romantic as Lysithea straight up isn't into girls. While Edelgard is.
  24. It does seem to me that Jeritza has no real dedication to any cause, but would more or less fight for anyone as long as they provide an opportunity for him to exercise his combat skills. Which is why he also follows Arundel after Edelgard lends him over to him. Even joining in at Remire village, which happens against Edelgard's orders. I wouldn't expect Edelgard to have knowledge of modern psychology, from her perspective, she could very much believe that her arrangement with Jeritza is mutually beneficial. But it is as you say, it is secondary to his utility, and I don't think Edelgard has all that much understanding of who Jeritza is as a person, considering that Edelgard pre Byleth has trouble getting close to people due to her trust issues. Personally, I do actually think that holding compassion for more people is inherently more good. To refuse sympathy and compassion for certain people is dehumanisation and dehumanisation is the root of many of the worst acts ever committed by humanity. I don't think punitive justice, and eye for an eye is good at all, as the motive for it (vengeance) is inherently self-serving and sadistic. To enjoy inflicting suffering upon someone, regardless of what they have done this in my view inherently evil. But in my mind being good in the first place is very closely tied to having empathy for people, therefore my definition of evil is lack of empathy. Which is closely connected to defining good as altruism and evil as selfishness. Good and evil are such nebulous terms, so it is probably for the best that I define my definition of good and evil.
  25. Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't Jeritza's psychosis basically require him to kill? What I am essentially suggesting here, is that if Edelgard didn't provide him with "hunting grounds" and targets for his Death Knight persona to kill. If it wasn't for this he would target people at random and be a danger for basically the entire population of Fodlan. Making him a soldier for her cause provides him with an outlet for his bloodlust that doesn't endanger citizens of the Empire. Maybe it isn't the best for Jeritza as it still encourages his murderous tendencies, something he probably shouldn't be embracing. But any regular monarch would have just killed someone like him because of the danger they pose. So I do consider Edelgard bearing his life and making use of them to be a mercy. To my understanding, Emelie snapped after his father revealed his plan to force Mercedes to marry him, giving birth to his Death Knight personality when he killed his father in a violent rage. The only person who has ever managed to get Jeritza to give up being the Death Knight is Mercedes. Edelgard wouldn't be capable of doing so. So her choices would be to either kill him or make use of him. But I am uncertain of when he started working for Edelgard, and if he possibly killed more people in between him killing his father and him becoming a soldier for the Empire. I just used this as an example of Edelgard showing more mercy to a criminal than Dimitri ever would. It seems like she shows more sympathy to such people, and understand that circumstances can drive people to banditry considering she is far more relaxed about working with such people than I would expect of Dimitri. She isn't usually interested in judgement and therefore can be seen as more merciful.
