  1. My reaction was to go, "There's a fiasco?" Completely out of the loop, though it sounds like the rest of you will get your physical copies at about the same time as they'll appear here in Asia. But that's why I already made allowances to grab the digital version tonight (today is the 4th, but I must wait for America to switch over.) And, yeah, I'd have grabbed this game in Japanese last year or even when I was in Tokyo last month, but decided to wait for the SRW UX 3DSLL. If I'm going to spend on a bloodly region locked console, it's at least going to be epic.
  2. Actually this is a true concern I wrestle with a lot. Also the reason why, while I first protested the dwindling play-times required to complete a game, I eventually came to appreciate how more games took much less time to finish. Every now and then, though, I sit down and let myself have at one of those long-to-the-ending games, rare as they. What I miss most, though? Game time during commute--school bus, dad driving, public transit. It's frustrating how I can't play Nintendo and drive my car at the same time... especially since all I really do is sit in traffic and inch forward slowly :|
  3. I'm thirty and still going strong. Don't allow the soft restrictions of society to constrain you--emancipate yourself and be willing to continue engaging in what you love for as long as you continue to love it. The idea that games are for children is likely just a social construction designed by those in power who need of a dedicated, single-minded workforce in order to maintain their power. A single-minded workforce you are not fully a part of for so long as you engage in undesirable and unproductive leisure, privileges which should only be afforded to the elite according to the world paradigm! Slight hyperbole, so take that with a grain of salt, but never compromise your own freedom to choose.
  4. Male first, then female. Just following my usual default for games like this, FE7, Dragon Age, Elder Scrolls, etc. Character won't be me, though, but an archetype I keep rehashing for all games of this nature.
  5. I think I did! You mentioned quantum mechanics, which excited me because that's a facet of physics I never really got to cover but still find fascinating. Then the site stopped working for a few days--the culprit behind the disappearing posts? Sadly, I don't remember too much else beyond that... I'll also agree that I feel rather guilty for being so tangential now on the main Awakening board. If there is an elsewhere we can continue discussion, I'd love for that to happen! On a side note, I'm also getting booked by homework I'm aiming to complete before I get my hands on Awakening. Entertained by the moniker "Viking Sisters." But yes, anywhere else we can take this?
  6. Just going to slide in here to say that, when I was in college, I knew a girl who looked like she was twelve, sounded like she was twelve, and acted like she was twelve, but was really twenty-three. Now, I was in no way attracted to her--she was kind of grating--but I knew people who were and, while that seemed borderline, it also kind of wasn't because she was very much an adult in age. When I see characters like Nowi/Nono who are non-human immortal fairies with hundreds of years of age behind them and when I see people bring up issues like these, I just remember this experience. Now, if you want to talk about the media literacy angle of it and its status as a social construction... that's a whole different story.
  7. Don't feel too bad--it's the same price on shipping even if you're three hours away from Japan. Outbound mail is really expensive in Japan. I regret not picking up Knights of Iris when I saw it in GAMERS, but my luggage allowance was already strained in a way a heavy book would only aggravate.
  8. Haha, our poor flier-less army. We snuck in one more, though! And gosh darn if Dark Flier isn't beginning to grow on me. Here I was so adamant against it a few days ago. 3DS code! 5429-6760-3586 PSN: Tiserra Anyone who wants to, please feel free to add me--just let me know so I can reciprocate. Murdok, I'll add you later when I wake up (3DS is charging across the room and it is 2am). I'm a big fan of the tactician's garb, though. While playing, my MU (who will not be based on me) will still ultimately a Grandmaster. I think everyone here is just really appreciative of receiving a sketch when none was expected, so I doubt you'll "bore" anyone. Seriously, you could have easily stopped at showing us the first two of you and your friend, but you didn't. Very generous. Even if you weren't going to draw mine, I'd stop in because I enjoy other people's art styles, which is an indirect way of saying I like seeing yours, new and old.
  9. I enjoy seeing threads like this one in which community members help one another out, :). And thanks, Rey! That's one of the S-ranks I won't be doing on my first playthrough, so I appreciate you putting it up.
  10. Briefly here too @ Ashe: Fight and win! The fascinating thing about people is our ability to push our own limits and understand that there can be multiple paths. I'm rooting for you all the same, :). As for why we short-out wrist watches... it has to do with how we seem to accumulate static. I have to be careful around power outlets and get zapped routinely by door knobs and hand-rails. This next part may be hyperbole, but I was told I have an ancestor for whom, when it stormed, lightning would arc into the house and find. He never died of it, though; died of old age instead after over thirty lightning strikes in his lifetime. Thankfully I have never been struck by lightning, but I came close once when it hit a spot about an arms-length away... or so. I can't be so sure because it happened so fast and so suddenly, but I literally leaped away from the scare. And I'll admit, you'd make good family, :)
  11. Popo's point is an excellent one and emphasizes that knowing who makes the media, who the intended audience is, and what the goals of the producers are are paramount concerns in seeking to understand this issue. What Popo outlines is why, for example, I could not fully participate as a viewer in the 'moeblob' culture which emerged in the anime scene in the mid-2000s; the pandering, by that point, was just too painfully obvious. Your whole response was perfectly written, Popo. I may be re-rereading it for a while. Haha, I don't disagree there. His is an opinion I've always taken with a grain of salt, but also one which opened my eyes to an alternate (his) perspectiveI hadn't yet considered. Just knowing about it has enriched the way I try understand cultural objects like yaoi. On the topic of Wonder Woman, the most painful thing you can do to yourself is array several issues of the comic before you and analysis them critical from a gender issues standpoint. Even in the New 52 reboots, she's either kissing someone or tied up or tentacle'd in each and every one of the covers. We're 70 years after 1941 when she first appeared, but the portrayal of her on the cover hasn't changed a lick.
  12. Whoa, those look great! Very expressive too. GreatOld's is perhaps my favourite because of how much dynamic the pose and motion are. Everything from the coat to the necklace has fluidity! Tres bien! It also manages to inject, as you say "dat sex appeal" without cheapening her evident warrior prowess. The hybridization of strategist with pegasus rider is great too! The entire ensemble reminds me of Valkyria Chronicles 3. Definitely picking up that vibe when seeing the art arrayed like that--partly also because it's really a disparate collection of assorted forum folk, haha! A squad rife with individualism. Did you know that left-handedness is also a handicap in woodblock print-making because of how keyblocks placement corners are carved? It takes much longer to train a left-handed woodblock printer as a result. On the other hand, left-handedness is a secret asset when carving the blocks themselves (since the image gets reversed)! I've seen many artists use special paper to cover the pad of their palm while drawing to avoid smudges. Perhaps look into that? If nothing else, eventually teaching yourself to draw digitally may also prove advantageous! As an aside, if you don't patch things up with Tarquin imma gonna ask her if she wants to S-rank. Just sayin'. Also, Ashe, A+ for the cool story. Interesting tales like that are why I love teaching and why I love meeting people online. There are so many great stories to discover in the world! (Also push and push; if you want the FBI, I'm certain you'll unlock your potential and attain those grades!)
  13. Not by my doing. Can't figure it out, but sometimes when I post in the spoiler tag, things randomly bold... but the editor won't show them to me. Can't figure it out, can't edit it out manually... so I've learned to just live with it and inflict you with the weirdness. That said, nothing in there is bold by design, so ignore the bolding, haha.
  14. Yeah, pretty glad to be in the download court on this one. I decided to also put my reservation in with the nearby game store. Since I'm out here in the Philippines where nobody owns a 3DS, I'm kind of safe.
