  1. So at the end of December, I decided to finally start this game for the Smashfest that I've been doing since....November I think? Or was it October? In any event, I think I can start sharing this LP with you guys much like I did with FE8 last year. Although I probably will NOT be doing anymore FE LPs after this game is over with, this game is taking up so much time. As of me posting this video here, I am already at chapter 19 of Book 1, so I already know things up until then. I honestly should remember most things just from playing Shadow Dragon and New Mystery of the Emblem, but those were also last year when I played The Sacred Stones...^^; So here's the video for ya'll to enjoy! Hopefully it's not to jarring (it does use the English patch, but I for the life of me do not understand why it has seizures in battle with the menu....never have either). ^^; And yes, I WILL be doing both books one after the other. May be really burnt out on FE after this too. ^^; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=csuuY3squs4
  2. I just wanna know before I dive in if FE3's not going to entirely beat me up for not learning some little dance routine trick or something. If it is possible to do so (even if frustratingly hard) then I might do a play log of it for luls, including times reset/reasons for reset if they're significant enough to note. I've never done a play log before to be quite honest, but they seem very interesting to do. I'm just curious as to if anyone would be interested in watching someone semi-new to FE stumble about an older game.
  3. The other night I was thinking about the localization of snes games, and then I thought Mystery of the Emblem could have made it to the west. I imagine Nintendo wouldn't have any interest in bringing over the famicom games or bring over FE4 and FE5 considering how late in the snes's lifespan they would have come out. Mystery of the Emblem wasn't that complex of a strategy game and would have been a good way to test the market and see if people liked this kind of game. I imagine if Nintendo wanted to release it in the US it would have been a holiday 94 release. Does any one have any ideas on why they would or wouldn't have released it back in the day on the Super Nintendo
  4. As some of you know, FE3 and FE5 had a mechanic called "dismount" where your mounted units couldn't go inside structures with their mounts but could fight off horseback (with swords only even if they didn't use swords on a mount). They also had minor stat losses while off their horse. How would you feel about the mechanic returning in a future game or a possible remake but revamped? I'd like just a general discussion. I for one loved the mechanic and found its only flaw to be the "Only Swords (or bows if you were a horse archer) dismounted" deal
  5. I was scanning rhdn recently, and i noticed that both fe3 and fe4 recently got new Vietnamese translations. Both of them are listed as complete, (although the fe4 one left some menu stuff untranslated.) Notably, instead of trying to translate proper nouns, the translator just uses the english ones. My fe4 run is not at the endgame, so i don't know weather this translation includes the ending or not, but if it does, it would be a better way to experience it than the Japanese, because all of the proper nouns are in English. I think he might also be working on fe12. fe3 link: http://www.romhacking.net/translations/2276/ fe4 link: http://www.romhacking.net/translations/2291/
  6. I said I was going to do it, so here it is, my second screenshot LP: FE3 Pseudo-Blind Adventure! (Title Pending) Essentially, Im going to play through both books of Mystery of The Emblem and record my progress here. Im going to start with Book 1, where Ill be using whatever units I happen to feel like at the time and get used to the feel of the game. Once book 2 rolls around, I'll probably set some limits, but I'll cross that bridge when I get there. The reason that Im calling it Pseudo-bind is because Ive played through Shadow one and four-ish halves times, so I know vaguely what happens sometimes. Like, I know that Shiida/Caeda recruits a bunch of random males with her sex appeal, so Im going to probably use her in anticipation of that happening, and I know that I need all the star thinges for Starlight, so Im going to get all of those, and that kind of stuff. Im not going to look anything up, though. Also, my memories of the plot are essentially Marth was on an island and then got some balls and turned them into a book to beat Gharnef. Then he got the Falchion and got warped to a dragon and won the game, so the plots pretty much a mystery to me, too. Anyway, before I start wallotexting even more, heres the first chapter! [spoiler=Chapter 1] The title screen! Im using the new patch, but the updated title screens apparently in the next version. Lets do this thing. Wait, Marth is 14? Thats like, a baby. I agree Ah, gotcha, a timeskip. And heres the crew! Marth, Draug, Gaggles, Kain, Abel, Shiida, and Jagen. Im gonna use the NoE names for the most part, because theyre the ones used in the patch, but I may end up slipping up and flip-flopping. Or Ill just give them stupid nicknames. Also Gaggles has always been and always will be Gaggles The status screen. Im gonna explain things for people whove never played the game before (most people?) as I discover them. Units have two inventories of 4 items each in this one: one by their head for weapons, and one by their stats for non-weapons. Also: Marth has 7 move. Thats ballin. Mounted units can use Lances while mounted, but can also dismount to turn into Knights, which are essentially Mercenaries. Thats why theyve all got lances and swords. They can mount and dismount whenever, but if its an indoor chapter they get forced onto their feet. Im pretty sure theres a stats penalty for dismounting, too, but Im not sure how steep it is. Enemies have sick pixel art portraits. Ill stick them here whenever I find new ones as long as I can remember to. Also: enemies have Exp, which Im 90% sure is how much they give when you kill them. Anyway: doing things! Marth gets the village since hes the only one who can in this game. The pre-combat window. You cant see your stats and the enemys stats at the same time, which makes seeing how much damage youll do/take kind of a piss off. Yay old things! The battle screens a pretty, though. Much nicer than the DS ones, imo, but Im a fan of pixely stuff. I also kind of hate everything about the DS games art style. I actually visited all the villages since Im still kind of lost, but this was the only useful one. If you look up at the status screens again, Weapon level is just a stat with a number in this game. How you know what weapon level you need for a weapon is a complete mystery to me at this point. (Dont tell me, its part of the fun of it being blind) I send Draug out to tank the pirates. He only takes 1 damage from them, but I apparently never capped it. Im 99% sure the weapon triangle isnt a thing until FE4, too. Seriously, 7 move. This kid is a track star. Gaggles and Marth pick up some kills. 32 is the magic number, this map. I dismounted Jagen to see what all the fuss was about and he snagged a kill too, since he could apparently double. Apparently promoted units dont get reduced exp. I leave Marth to dodgetank the herd of pirates since dodgetanking is the #1 specialty of all sword Lords. My first level. He also got Weapon Level and HP, which is apparently at the bottom of the list. FYI, the level up fanfare is not what it is in all the later games, and its kind of jarring. My first crit. The game tells you what damage you do and take in a little window at the end of a battle, and its kind of just annoying. Also, if you cant move though a tile, youve got to scroll around it manually to get to one past it. You cant just scroll through and have it auto-path there. So much for burning RNs. Thats quite the euphemism Ohhhhh united like united their forces. That makes so much more sense. This chick is not Wrys. Her Vulnerary is not Wrys. Wrys is not in this game. Im pissed, he was a cool bald dude. Shiidas first level. Trading. Shiida I remember reading FE1 debate topics where people always brought up Shiida being able to use Jagens Silver Lance with only 1 WLev proc, and lo and behold, it holds true in this game too. Gaggles takes potshots at the boss. I was trying to feed him to Shiida, but Marth got another crit. Fortunately, hes growing way better than Roy ever dreamed of doing. And thats map 1 cleared He just kind of starts monologue-ing to himself Nice, Ogma's pretty sweet. His friends, not so much. He's pretty much just a village telling me I can recruit people Well, hopefully you managed to enjoy the first chapter. Itll get less This is FE3 and how it works and more This is an actual LP once I get used to it and things get rolling, I promise.
  7. Who do you usually send to kill Gharnef with the Starlight Tome? Merric - Student of magic, first avaliable mage in FE1 (FE11), wants to rescue Marth's sis. Linde - Daughter of Miloah, who was killed by Gharnef. Wants revenge. Wendell - Bishop/Sage and Merric's teacher Ellerean - Merric's rival, Wendell's student. Want's to prove himself. Yubello - Because sending a little kid to kill the main villain is funny. Frost - Random old guy deserves the credit Mallesia - Because she can? Maria - Because she can? Lena - Because she can? FE12's Avatar - Because YOU want the glory of his death. Etzel - The only sorcerer. Yumina - Same reason at her brother :^) Katarina - Because BFFFLs.
  8. Hey, guys, I'm bored and need to play this game. Without further ado, I'll begin Book One! [spoiler=Book 1 Chapter 1] BLAH BLAH STORY An excuse to go crusading across the continent? I'm in! We start off by giving Marth this lady's Iron Sword. No need for that when you suck, right? Right. Unit stats, minus HP and WL. Boy, I can't wait for Abel's first WL proc. Silver Lance with no WTD? COME TO DADDY~! Jagen confirmed for MANLY CHIP! I didn't catch it, but--this was a crit. This is gonna be fun~ To the bench with you, harlot! Let's go spend it on booze and hookers! DOGA WILL CHOKE THIS POINT. DODGEMASTER DOGA SAVIN' THE DAY It's a 1-RN system! What could possibly go wrong~? ...I don't think I've had a Cav not crit yet. Go shopping, whorsebird. I'm about 80% certain that's the first time anyone has taken damage. Aaaand the dented Pirate finishes himself on Able. Nice~ I missed the combat screenshot, but... this guy has a few more HP than I'd like him to have. I knew that Gordon chip was useful for something! Jeigan cuts in, because Abel is kinda gonna die if I don't do that--seeing as he's eaten all the abuse this map has doled out so far. Go Kain! Cav duo is the answer to everything. I missed the combat screencap, but this is DOGA after facing three 70%s in a row. I'm pretty sure he's invincible. ...dammit, Abel, why...? Y'know how this ends. ...with a Skl/Lck/WL level on Abel's part. And I think a crit. Abel is, in fact, a boss. I almost forgot doubling existed in this game! Kain's up top, Doga's CHOKING DA POINT, and all is right with the world~ Like lambs to the slaughter, I swear. Because two 68s hitting just isn't likely enough, is it. NO NO ONE DOES NOT SIMPLY HIT DOGA. THIS SHALL NOT STAND!! Nor does this Pirate! This was a dodge. Kain killed. And, although I didn't get the screencap, another Pirate attacked him! You'll never guess the level. Skl Spe Def WLv HP. Kain, you boss. ...A Vulnerary. Wrys doesn't exist. Nope. Just a stinkin' Vulnerary. ...I... have no words. Pretty sure the answer is always JAGEN CHIP! ...this is getting a tad spooky. Another one bites the dust! That's... cool? Pity my Cavs aren't proccing what they need to to double with non-Slims, but eh, it happens. ...and I just realized both Cavs can use the Silver. BOOYAH. ...of course, Abel has 20 Atk with Silver, and the chip missed. Of course. Horsebird slut, however, has proven useful for once! SPLOOSH! Gehehehehehehe. Abel, keep on being a CHAMP. Disregard anything I said earlier. And that's Chapter 1. Tune in for Chapter 2 later tonight! This feels classic, in the truest sense of the worried. I should have quite a bit of fun with this~
  9. So yeah, I wanted to play Monsho no Nazo on my R4*, but then I realized something: all emulators that can be used by my R4, can't play the translated ROMs, while original ones run fine. For example, with SNEmulDS (IIRC) latest version, whenever I load the translated one, the screen went total blank, with FPS spazzing between really low numbers (about lower than 15) and impossible-to-get ones in the hundreds. What's wrong with it? Details on my R4: The card looks like: (if can't see, it says R4 3DS UPGRADE SDHC Revolution for 3DS DSi XL/LL DSL DS RTS LITE Real Time Save www.r4isdhc.com ) but it has Wood R4 version 1.?1 installed. (I don't know the exact version number, probably 3 or 5) Btw I'm only playing it for B1 because B2 makes Abel bad. Also I doubt that anyone will reply with an actual answer instead of "lol u plei fe3 go get a life an plai fe4 its more betterer".
  10. Hey Can I get a bit of help? you see I`ve played every classic FE game in the series except for the BS one so I download it and it won`t run on my emulator! is this a common problem? I just get a black screen I use zsnes1.36 is it the emulator? can it even run the Satellaview games? as I want to try some of the satellaview stuff bad some interesting gems were released on it that never left Japan and probably never will so yeah just wondering if there is a way to make this game run if not then that is one FE game i just can`t get too but I hope that is not the case as I really love the classic Fire Emblem series so it would be something to have tried every last one of them atleast once or twice.
  11. I'm new to the older JP only Fire Emblems. I decided to start with 3, (The Famicom ones are just too archaic for me). I got used to no weapon triangle, weird growth rates and dismounting, but one thing that has been bothering me is the broken weapons. Can they be repaired or are they just an infinite use bad weapon? Should I clear them out of my convoy? I know in FE4 broken weapons could be repaired so I am a bit confused here, FE12 didn't have broken weapons.
  12. Hello guys I was wondering does anyone know if it`s possible to download and listen to the music from FE3? I want all the in game songs from book 1 and book 2 is there a spot to download them on this site? I really love the music from FE3 and some songs are hard to find on other sites so why not just get the entire ost? so yeah any help would be great.
