  1. Hello I am a new Fire Emblem Content Creator and am currently doing an Ironman lets play of Path of Radiance Maniac mode, and look to continue doing ironman runs of all the Fire Emblem games hardest difficulties. Here is a link my channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqIqqSKFIx806GBptkW98cQ and this is the link to the 1st video of the lets play I hope some of you take the time to check out the channel and subscribe, I love Fire Emblem and I hope you like the content enough to stick around!
  2. I'm not the best at 3 houses and I'm not the biggest fan, but I do like iron manning games, I'm just not sure if it's possible to beat 3 houses. From what I've seen, done, and know, if anyone dies. It's game over. Pre time skip you might be able to salvage it if you lose someone like Ingrid (not saying she's bad) or someone that you recruited from another house. The only route that you could go and reliably win would be CF since ch 1 of post time skip will pretty much end any run. Maybe I'm wrong. What do you guys think? Edit: I forgot to add that I'm assuming Maddening mode. Hard and Normal are very doable, but Maddening just seems unbeatable to me.
  3. Doing a birthright lunatic ironman! Requests for units? Need Parents and Kids. Never done an ironman before, so any tips for birthright lunatic in particular would be appreciated. I've done most fe games on their hardest difficulty, but never an ironman. Rule 1. If giving a kid, give their parents. Refrain from just giving a parent. Giving the family would be nice. Rule 2. No paid dlc. But can use stuff like balistician, witch (mutually exclusive), paragon, exalt's brand. Rule 3. There are no mods on the games, so will be a vanilla run Rule 4. Looking for around 18 units, which will probably be cycled through the run based on deaths and viability. Rule 5. Avatar can be customized by anyone who comes first. You can decide appearance, name, Class, Bane and Boon, S-Support partner and gender. suggestion: i've never married a gen 2 unit, and that could get more units into the fray, so feel free to use that! Parent 1a: Great Knight! corrin(+spd, - def) Parent 1b: master Ninja! Saizo kid 1: Noble! Kana Parent 2a: Swordmaster! Setsuna Parent 2b: Oni chieftain!Hinata kid 2: Sniper! 4. Hi all, A little while back (can't really remember how long since time has lost all meaning thanks to this pandemic haha) I posted here mentioning that I had just finished my first ironman run on birthright lunatic. I said then that I wanted to take a quick break before really diving into the monster that is conquest. I lied. Sorta. You see I decided to give the first couple chapters a go since I was in the mood for more and wanted to gauge juts how much I was dealing with. I lost track of how many failed runs I had, but eventually I got burned out and realized some time away would be best. Fast forward to today when I decided that it was about time to give it another go. The first couple chapters went by pretty smoothly, I ended up reclassing Odin as a joke to samurai, even got through chapter nine with only like 6 uses on my heal staff. Then comes chapter 10. now I tend to go for Takumi with corrin/camilla when I played in easier difficulties and since this was seeming to be a bit of a joke run I ended up going for it again. to my surprise I actually managed to down him, but not before he took my corrin to 1 hp! The rest of the map was still rather tense but I did manage to get all the houses and only lost beruka early do to missing a 95% hit, but hey that's fates for ya! All this to say this run is looking to be a lot of fun. I know I got a lot worse ahead of me, but I'm at least glad this run has proven to be more entertaining and exciting than it has frustrating. Wish me luck!
  5. I recently found a way to play the GBA Fire Emblem games, and started Eliwood's mode a short while ago. I'm not a fan of resetting or using save states, but I also don't know how Ironman-friendly these games are for a blind player, hence the question in the title. I'm curious how well the GBA Fire Emblem games handle giving the player enough units so that if one falls, another could fulfill a similar role, if they pace out when you get said units, if there are any nasty surprises in store for someone playing blind, and so on. I have completed Awakening and Shadow Dragon Ironman runs before, so it's not my first rodeo, but I don't know whether ironmanning these games during my first playthrough is a good idea or not.
  6. Greetings, dear citizens of SF. Today you will witness the setting in motion of a plan long in the making... Hattusili I and @Natalie play Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn ironman! Here are the rules. The starting player is decided by dice roll. After each battle, play switches from one player to the other. No restarting. On game-overs, play switches to the other player, who continues from the last save. There is no in-game punishment for a game-over. At the end of this let's play, the person with the most game-overs will buy the other dinner (in case of a tie, we split the bill). No swearing on this fucking thread, you little shits. We'll be playing Path of Radiance on normal, and Radiant Dawn on easy. The dice roll has happened, and it has chosen Natalie to begin. Alea iacta est.
  7. I learned how to unzip files, everyone! So, friends, I decided to take advantage of the handy-dandy screenshot function of the emulator and do a Let's Play. This will be a Hard/Classic Ironman, and there will be some degree of audience participation. (i.e., suggesting and naming forges, reclasses) Anyway, time to jump into the game! Actually, I identify as an turtle. That's not an option, however, so I go for Male. For my name, I just decide to go with...my name. I will also continue the grand tradition of Mage MyUnits in FE12 Let's Plays. Original character do not steal I'm kidding, of course. This is my character. It's...close enough. Now, rather unconventionally, I'm going to be skipping the prologue and the first chapter. Why? All the pictures were mixed up. Some were also missing. 😅
  8. As that title states i was thinking about doing a challenge run where i pick exclusively lowtier characters and do an Ironman with them (forgive me if this has been done before). I was probably going to start with FE7 as it's the one I'm most familiar with and it's easily stream-able. Only problem is I don't know what characters are actually considered the worst. Given that you guys here at Serenes Forest are fairly decent when it comes to these things, can we get some voting on whose the top 10-15 worst characters? maybe 3 responses per person? I'll tally them up and start up a run, probably less than a week depending. Update: So from this consensus im getting: Wil Rebecca Nino Renault Lyn (but it's not unique) Louise Wallace squared Serra Dorcas and Bartre Matthew Update 3: Ok so minus Rath and Lucius (lucius himself seemed decent but i figured Erk is better purely because anima) So ill start this up this weekend probably friday or Saturday depending. I'm basically going to either not deploy whose not on the list or ill have them die a heroic death with no weapon in hand. Also going out of my way to try and make wallace is going to be fun. His join chapter is gonna be fun. Update 4: Now live! https://www.twitch.tv/tsakan2 Update 5: Matthew died on chapter 9 because he missed an 80+ something %. that's funny. RIP my thief for the run, gonna let him stay dead on eliwood mode
  9. Well, today I got some rare free time, and decided to try playing Fates again after about a year hiatus. I thought I'd limit myself by trying an Ironman run. The Rules: 1: We will be playing on Lunatic/Classic 2: We will not reset if a unit dies. If my Corrin dies, I reserve the right to try again, or this might be a very short run. 3: No DLC grinding for XP or gold. Grinding supports in castle battles is okay. 4: I will limit myself to one "bought" skill per unit 5: No Bond units will be used, but "Captured" units are okay. 6: We will be starting after the route split. 7: Children paralogs will be played, if available, and children units are okay to use. 8: I will be skipping over most of the story for this LP, since it's more about seeing how well badly I do. 9: To make things interesting, I will let the audience pick who my Corrin will wed in holy matrimony. 10: If I forgot any rules, I reserve the right to add more rules. I've already married Jakob and Kaze in past playthroughs, so I prefer to try someone different, but we'll see how it goes. If the top choice dies before we can consummate the marriage, I'll try to pick the next top available choice. If anyone wants to visit my castle during this glorious campaign, my address is 05107-66614-62592-54117. Feedback and comments are always welcome! For Marriages and Stuff Summary as of Page 24
  10. Yesterday, I finished my first ironman run of Awakening. It was also a "no grinding" run (although I will admit that I didn't always follow that rule, even though two of the encounters were due to an enemy blocking a shop in the early game, when there aren't a whole lot of alternatives yet). I've decided to share some of my overall thoughts on both the Ironman and the game as a whole. I've separated my thoughts with spoilers, as they ended up longer than I thought it would be. Deaths Pairings For the record, I only grinded four times total, and here's why: Main Thoughts on the Gameplay, Story, etc. Characters Random Thoughts and Observations This took much longer than I thought it would to write, by the way. I also would have given my final turn count and how many battles/kills everyone got, but my phone sucks and the pictures/videos took up too much space, so I had to delete them.
  11. Hey all, I was playing FE4 for the first time recently, but had some problems, and have had to restart, so I decided I may as well stream it, and have everyone tell me how bad I'm doing. However, now it's not exactly a blind run for most of the game, I thought I'd make it an Ironman, to keep things interesting. First stream will be going up around 8pm GMT (1hr 40m from this post), and will be stopping at some undetermined point afterwards. Come hang out, watch me suffer and guide me through the nightmare to come. Heres the link (also in the sig.): https://www.twitch.tv/dwarfishh
  12. So, after struggling through a True Classic Awakening run, breezing through an Awakening Only Shepherds run, and struggling through a Hard/Classic Conquest run, I figured that I might as well mix things up a bit. Time for a Let's Play! Questions You May Have What kind of LP is this? Screenshot, of course. Video LPs are for the weak! (and people who don't sound like third grade girls) How will you take the screenshots? With my Ipad, which I will post these updates on. The images won't be super great, but, hey! It worked for Rezzy! Are you playing on Hard or Lunatic? ...Lunatic? HAHAHA! The first time I played Conquest, I had to go Normal/Phoenix just to complete the game. I've improved significantly, but not that much. I'm going Hard. Now, viewers, if you so wish, you may select one of these lovely royals to be our main character. Jamie. Naive and girlish. Loves helping people, doing chores, and the color pink. Boon: Clever Bane: Clumsy Talent: Troubadour Michele. Narcoleptic and somewhat cynical. While she has nihilistic beliefs, she figures she might as well make the most of her once chance. Boon: Calm Bane: Unlucky Talent: Wyvern Rider Jordan. Kind of dumb. Thinks of himself as cooler than he really is. Wears an eyepatch even though he doesn't need one. Boon: Robust Bane: Dull Talent: Mercenary Roland. Puts on a gruff exterior, but has a sensitive side as well. Surprisingly agile for his build. Boon: Quick Bane: Unlucky Talent: Spear Fighter
  13. So I have an idea for a let's idea. Tell me if you think it's a good one. So the premise is that you play fire emblem heroes and every time a unit dies, you have to send them home. To keep content consistent I thought about playing through book one on lunatic difficulty, Then go for a tier 20 arena run with the rules in play. Tell me if it sounds interesting
  14. Rules: 1. Game will be attempted in 400 turns (500 for the medal, but I'd like to challenge myself) 2. Normal/Classic 3. All deaths are permanent 4. No more than 9 characters + lords for each route 5. Pitchforks and Deliverance DLC's (if the former is specifically requested) will be permitted 6. After completing the main campaign I will be playing through Act 6, please keep this in mind for the viability of certain picks 7. I enjoy having units who support one another when possible Thank you for any picks you provide! Alm: - Faye (Mage - Kliff (any class) - Clive (Mercenary) Celica: - Leon (default class) - Catria (default class)
  15. This is both my first play through and my first iron man run, so don’t expect it to be good or anything. Hopefully the memes will be good enough Rules: 1) If a unit dies, then they stay dead. I only reset if my Corrin dies 2) The game will be played on Classic/Lunatic 3) Grinding with DLC or scouting is banned. Any other method of grinding is allowed 4) I can only buy one skill per unit 5) Children can be used and obtained. The marriages for gen 1 will be decided once I get to a certain point (after completing chapter 20 in my case 6) The game will start at the route split 7) A special self imposed rule; Ryoma is banned from use until the end of chapter 20 (when I will be getting the kids) 8) The marriage options for my Corrin and others will be decided by you!
  16. So... Ephraim died of overexposition on ch 15, from an unlucky javelin (he had around 15~20% chance of death on the whole turn). Well, bad RNG is no excuse, and moments like this happen in every run I guess. But what should I do with my save now? When starting my run, I planned to do no resets at all (which I didnt do), and to delete my save should a game over occur. Now the thing is... I really dont wanna delete my save and start all over. On the one hand, the point of my run was to do something a little more realistic and dramatic than your everyday "reset-whenever-someone-dies" run, and to spare myself the task of restarting some maps because of silly mistakes. On the other, resetting from the beginning would be exactly that : doing the same maps all over again, just because of one blunder (and bad luck) . To be honest, I'd keep playing without Ephraim if I could, but you gotta respect plot armor, amirite? So there it is. What would you do in my situation? What do you guys think I should do? Its my first time getting a game over in ironman, so i'd be interested to know what's your opinion on this. EDIT : after careful consideration, I decided to delete my save and restart completely. I didnt want to restart ch 15 just to bench Ephraim. After all, its only 14 chapters to redo, and it fits better the spirit of ironman imo ; thats what "game over" means originally, right?
  17. Steel's Ironman Echoes: SoV Challenge Playlog - No Resets, No Revival, No Milas Turnwheel, Hard Classic After much delay, I am finally going to start playing Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia. As an introduction, I've been with the series since FE7 released on the GBA, and have played FE7, 8, 11, 13, and 14. I've done a text playlog on another site, where completed Conquest on Lunatic/Classic Blind, with no DLC, online, or stat boosters, which is probably the biggest challenge I have completed in Fire Emblem. So this thread is a sort of successor to that. Now, when I play Fire Emblem games, I like a challenge. I like to think and plan and strategize and have my knowledge and ability and creativity be put to the test. Gaiden isn't too difficult, and I hear that Echoes doesn't do much to increase the difficulty. So I've created my own challenge. I've already played through Fire Emblem Gaiden (up to Ch 5 anyway) in the past couple months, so I should be pretty familiar with how this game works. So this isn't truly blind, although it's my first time playing SoV as Gaiden is very fresh in my memory. This will be a screenshot playlog as I play through Echoes for the first time under this challenge ruleset. Ideally I'd do a video lets play but I don't have the means to record Echoes with anything approaching decent quality, so text + screenshots will have to do. Since I'm sure most people here are playing SoV, I won't talk too much about the story aside from some reactions here and there. I'm sure y'all will see the story on your own. I'll keep things rather brief and to the point. Maybe this could be usable as a sort of strategy guide in the future. I will focus on the strategies I use and on the challenge at hand. Here are the rules I am planning to play by in my Hardcore Ironman Challenge playthrough: -Hard/Classic -No DLC -No Revival Shrines -No Milas Turnwheel My goal is to complete the game with without resetting, and with as few character deaths as possible. If a character dies, they will stay dead. If I get a game over, then the first part of this challenge will have failed, and I will increment the game over counter, restart the map, and continue to play from there under the same rules, trying to complete the game with as few resets and deaths as possible from then on. I won't use revival shrines even though they are part of the game. If Alm or Celica dies, I will consider that a game over. I'll keep playing but I'll have to increase the game over counter by 1, and maybe implement some other consequence. I won't over-level by grinding too much. I might do a bit here and there as from my knowledge of Gaiden, having certain units promoted by certain points is quite important. But I'll keep it to a minimum. Feel free to make predictions/bets on whether I will succeed, how many resets it will take, how many units will die, and who will die. Welcome to Steel's Ironman Echoes Playlog. Bring it on! Hope you guys have fun reading along! I also welcome any relevant comments and discussion - just please don't spoil anything past where I'm currently at in the game. PS. If anyone is interested, I did a video Let's Play of Gaiden: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLrhvZk3o62Z1kbKbpmJtJB8-txc_Ekjzk PS#2. I'm also posting this playlog on another website as well.
  18. As some of you may already have seen, I asked for some tips for an FE7 Ironman playthrough on here that I was planning to do on YouTube, and here it is! Part 1: Lyn Mode - Prologue: Rules: ► Standard Ironman rules: no resets, no restarts, no do-overs. If someone dies, they're dead forever. ► LORDS CLAUSE: If a Lord dies, I'll restart the chapter and the game will continue, but a character will be chosen to be sacrificed in their place - choices will be included in a poll on here, YouTube and Twitter so that you viewers can decide who that should be. ► You're free to discuss anything but please no spoilers for Fire Emblem Conquest or Revelations - I've pretty much finished Birthright, but I've still not started the other two! As I'm starting from a fresh game on the Wii U Virtual Console, I'll be playing on Lyn Easy Mode (the forced tutorial) and Eliwood Normal Mode, and I'll be following the story but have battle animations turned off until Eliwood's Mode (unless requested otherwise by popular demand). I'm planning to record videos on a chapter by chapter basis, but for longer chapters I'll split them up into Part 1, Part 2 etc. if they're going to be longer than 30 minutes. I should hopefully have videos uploaded on a daily to every-two-days basis (it depends on what our channel's schedule is like, we're currently playing through the Dark Souls 3 Ashes of Ariandel DLC as well). Hope you're looking forward to it as much as I am! Archive of episodes:
  19. In a bit of a change of pace, its time for a mini ironman styled tournament with character drafting! This one is in by popular demand on the discord. 16 players, 3 characters per player. Not sure when its starting, but we can at least get the drafting done. Ruleset 3 Stock 8 Minutes Double Elimination No Customs (barring the small Mii rule at the bottom) Mini Ironman Rules Character Drafting Starter Stages Final Destination Battlefield Smashville Town & City Lylat Cruise Counterpick Stages Dreamland 64 Duck Hunt Omega Stages* *In the banning phase, banning Final Destination bans Omegas as well. But as a starter stage, Omega's cannot be chosen regularly Ironman Rules In this tournament, we are playing ironman style, with 3 characters per player. First match, you and your opponent will put one of your characters against each other and the result of that is permanent, say you lost 2 lives vs their first character, you must Self Destruct to match that stock count for their next character. Drafting Rules It will be snake styled drafting, the order will be based on various factors, Euklyd's seeding chart may or may not be used, randomness may happen, but regardless of the result. This is how things work, as stated by Euklyd himself (But there are 16 players not 3) SET PROCEDURE Players select characters, tell each other your character of choice -Dishonesty will not be tolerated- if a player wishes, they may opt for a blind pick, in which both players secretly inform a neutral third party of their selection, and that person announces both at the same time First stage is selected according to stage striking. Game is played Counterpicking procedure takes place: Game winner bans 1 stage. This ban is in effect for the following game ONLY. Game loser picks stage from among legal stages. Players/teams may not pick ANY stage they have won on in the set previously except by agreement of the opponent (Stage Clause, also known as Modified Dave's Stupid Rule). Winner keeps their character and current stock count Loser sends in their next character You play till someone runs out of characters STAGE STRIKING: Use Game & Watch Hammer (Both players pick G&W and do his side b for the higher number) or flip a coin on Discord. Winner strikes the first stage. Loser then strikes the next two stages. Winner strikes the last one effectively choosing the first stage they play on. (1-2-1) Daves Stupid Rule You may not counterpick to a stage you have won on in the set unless your opponent agrees to it. Gentlemans Rule If you and your opponent agree to it, you may play a nonlegal stage (I.E Midgar,Gamer, etc) or a stage won on by the current player picking (It negates Daves Stupid Rule) Mii's You may make a Mii for tourney play if you so wish, but you can only setup one of each type and you can't switch their movesets after you lock them in. Replays You are to send replays to me (NNID is Jedisupersonic), each match of your sets, no exceptions, however if you do miss replays you won't be penalized, I'll just be disappointed. Character Pool Sign Ups + Drafted Characters 1. Ice - Sheik, Sonic, Palutena 2. General Horace - DK, Falcon, Yoshi 3. Stardust - Lucas, Ness, Villager 4. Right_here - Robin, Megaman, Pikachu 5. Lord Raven - Cloud, Falco, Olimar 6. Febro - Samus, Shulk, Ryu 7. Elieson - Little Mac, King Dedede, Charizard 8. Jedi - Ike, Mario, Metaknight 9. Ki11erPenguin - Corrin, Dr Mario, Dark Pit 10. Tsunami - Peach, Rosalina and Luma, Bowser 11. Knife - Greninja, Zero Suit Samus, Lucario 12. Euklyd - Marth, Zelda, Jigglypuff 13. Shezzy - Mewtwo, Fox, Luigi 14. Dotty - Link, Ganondorf, Pac-Man 15. PKL - Toon Link, Lucina, Pit 16. Taav - Diddy Kong, Roy, Mii Brawler
  20. So, yeah. This is my first LP. What do I say? I've been playing FE for around a year now, though I've only played FE6-8 and FE13. I'm also new to the forums, though I've been lurking for a while. And... that's it, really. Best get to the LP. Rules: -Can't reset unless Roy dies -If I fail to reach a gaiden, I may not reset to achieve it [spoiler=Ch 1: Dawn of Travesty - Part 1] The only way to play. Defeated and humbled, the Dragons disappeared from the realm. Mankind then began to rebuild and repopulate their newly won land. A millennium has passed since then... ...culture and civilization to the farthest reaches of the continent. In the west lies the Kingdom of Etruria, which is widely considered to possess the most refined culture in all of Elibe. The Kingdom of Bern, with its powerful military and logical, pragmatic people, is located on the other side of the continent in the east. These are the two most powerful nations in Elibe with the weaker nations situated between them. These smaller lands are... the Lycian League, whose numerous territories are independently ruled by a number of marquesses that are bound by a vow of allegiance; Ilia, where the people arduously till the frozen soil and many become mercenaries to earn money to survive; and Sacae, where various clans ride through the plains on horseback. Although there were occasional clashes between these nations, the majority of the people of Elibe lived in peace. That peace, however, was not to last... That moment when you're told that this whole game is because you beat BBD. Now, Bern is mounting a merciless invasion into Lycia. Pherae is a territory of Lycia known for its beauty and honorable lords. Pherae's Lord Roy was in Ostia, Lycia's largest territory, when the invasion began. He had been sent to study to become the next marquess of the Pherae territory. Eliwood defies the laws of FE and goes on to survive for the whole game. ...has sent for Roy to return to lead Pherae's soldiers in defending against Bern. He gets a beard, she gets a beard, we all get beards! At the same time Eliwood sent for Roy, Marquess Ostia's daughter Lilina was in Pherae visiting Eliwood, who is Marquess Ostia's long-time friend and confidant. Upon receiving his father's message, Roy hurries home, taking with him his vassals and Bors, a knight from Ostia who is responsible for Lilina's safety. The story begins when Roy reaches the outskirts of Pherae... Bandit: They've all hidden themselves inside the castle! Bandit: Hee hee hee... You were right when you said there wouldn't be many soldiers. They're all getting ready to defend against Bern! The damn ass is always right! Damas: But reinforcements could be here any minute. All right, you curs, listen up! Kill everyone in the castle while we still got time! Then we can waltz outta here with all the loot! Bandit: Let's go ransack the villages and take everything they got! OH GOD I NEVER KNEW --- Merlinus: We're under attack by bandits from Mount Bolm! Eliwood: I understand. Thank you, Merlinus... Eliwood: Lilina, you must hide yourself. This castle is going to become a war zone. She joins at level 1 unpromoted, by the way. In Chapter 8. Eliwood: Don't be absurd. I couldn't face Hector if something happened to you in my own castle. Lilina: My father? But... Eliwood: It's going to be all right. Roy should be here any moment, so we just need to hold our own until then. He'll drive off these dastards. Merlinus! Send a messenger to Roy to let him know the current situation! We need his help! Merlinus: Y-yes, milord! --- Roy: Why are you in such a hurry? Lance: Lord Roy! Bandits have appeared and are attacking the castle as we speak! Lance: He's inside, defending against the bandits' attack. But I don't know how long he can last with his illness...! Lance: She should be all right. She's with Lord Eliwood after all, but he can't last forever. Assuming the best paladin in the game will become a victim to level one unpromoted bandits. Roy: No... I shouldn't have let Lilina go to the castle before me. Roy: Yes, you're right. This is no time to despair. Very well. To arms then! Our target is the castle! We must rescue everyone! --- GROWTHS: HP 80, Str 40, Skl 50, Spd 40, Lck 60, Def 25, Res 30, Total 320 Yes Roy, please do invest all your good growths in Skl and Lck. It's not like you need more Str/Spd/Def or anything. You don't get to use his promoted version until The Neverending Dream, which just sucks. He's lagging behind for at least ten chapters, and gets insulting promotion gains for it. His 20/1 stats would be fine for literally anyone else at the same level, but he has those at what could potentially be the final chapter. I haven't played FE5 so I don't know how bad Leif is, but Roy is definitely one of the worst lords in the series. GROWTHS: HP 60, Str 25, Skl 20, Spd 25, Lck 20, Def 15, Res 20, Total 185 Your typical Jeigan. I swear that 14 Skl is a "fuck you" message from IntSys, because it just makes him better at stealing kills. For what it's worth, though, Marcus is otherwise pretty much what a Pure Jeigan should be. His Silver Lance is there to weaken stronger enemies like knights or wyvern riders. Use until chapter 7, bench for Jerrot, who is better in every way that matters. Also, Paladins have complete weapon triangle control, 8 move, and canto. Generals have lances, axes and 5 move. Balance, people. GROWTHS: HP 85, Str 45, Skl 40, Spd 45, Lck 40, Def 25, Res 10, Total 290 His higher Str puts him above Lance in Hard mode before Lance starts doubling. He regains his lead later on, and also has a bit more luck, if that matters to you. GROWTHS: HP 80, Str 40, Skl 45, Spd 50, Lck 35, Def 20, Res 15, Total 285 Lance is a faster, weaker Allen who is slightly more frail. He also has a 5% weaker growth total. Absolutely unacceptable game design. He's better earlier on, but becomes inferior later on because Allen will eventually reach him in the speed department if you train him enough. He doesn't quite double at base on Hard, but once he does, he'll get his earlygame lead, and things will become slightly easier. Also, nearly every potential paladin in this game starts off lance-oriented. The only people who don't are Noah (C swords, D lances) and Percival (A/A/C). GROWTHS: HP 90, Str 30, Skl 30, Spd 40, Lck 50, Def 35, Res 10, Total 285 This is the place where everything goes wrong. The problem here is so obvious I shouldn't need to spell it out, but I will anyway. 40% Speed. 50% Luck. 35% Defence. That's ridiculous. Sure, it's nice and all, but an AK's main selling point is its bulk, not its speed. Nevertheless, this basically makes Bors the best AK in the game, because Wendy has no defence and Barth has no Speed or Luck to speak of. Does that make him good? No, because he has four move in a game full of huge maps, and starts off at level 1, but he can be good. His C rank in lances is also fairly good for this point in the game. GROWTHS: HP 80, Str 40, Skl 50, Spd 40, Lck 40, Def 20, Res 10, Total 280 Okay. What. Just what. Remember, this is the archer. He has the worst bases in the group. He also has the worst growth total, save for Marcus. This means he's improving the least. Now remember that literally everyone else has 1-range, three people have horses, and that even Bors starts off with respectable stats in the areas that an AK needs good stats in, or at least has acceptable growths if they aren't good already. I thought archers were supposed to have some sort of redeeming feature like good offense to make up for their 2-range - I mean even Rebecca/Neimi can amount to something if you take the time to train them. Wolt literally can't do anything that other people can't do better. He has nice hair though. Yeah. He's bested by everyone else right from the word go, and will remain so for the rest of the game. I'm not using him except for urgent kills that Marcus is too far away to handle. tl;dr What is balance? I'll get the next part up at some point, because it's too late now. Any advice for making these in general would be greatly appreciated.
  21. As the title states, I'm planning on doing an Ironman Let's Play of Fire Emblem 7 on YouTube (I'll post a thread in the Let's Play/Stream section on here too), and before I start I figured I might as well ask the veterans for some tips! I'm not planning for it to be a low turn count run or be locked into certain characters like a draft or PMU (although I'll probably use characters that are suggested), just looking to get advice on what I should consider for an Ironman playthrough in particular, especially since it'll be the first one I've ever done.
  22. Hello one and all to my randomized playthrough of Fire Emblem 6. I'll be going through the whole game on normal mode with 10% growths on enemies to make it more challenging. I will not be including the story in this run, mainly because I don't really care for it and the other reason being it's a randomized run and the dialogue wouldn't make much sense anyways. I have also randomized Recruitment and Classes which means our Roy could be anyone or even himself! Every character and boss will have randomized classes which could make the last boss a little interesting (unless the randomizer doesn't change the final boss). Anyways, let's get straight into this amazing game! [spoiler=The Characters!] Hp:85% S/M:45% Skl:40% Spd:45% Lck:40% Def:25% Res:10% Oh for crud sakes. Allen, the Troubadour who will be our Lord for this playthrough. Hp:90% S/M:40% Skl:40% Spd:30% Lck:35% Def:20% Res:15% Deke, the Manakete, I'm surprisingly okay with this. Hp:75% S/M:30% Skl:45% Spd:30% Lck:40% Def:30% Res:10% Noah, the Priest. I can see him being useful for a little while, but with our main lord being a healer I don't see the need for two. Hp:85% S/M:50% Skl:45% Spd:45% Lck:35% Def:15% Res:15% Speaking of unnecessary characters, Dorothy, the Soldier. Hp:60% S/M:40% Skl:45% Spd:45% Lck:15% Def:15% Res:50% Saul, the Wyvern Rider. Look at that speed! He'll most certainly be useful for now. Hp:60% S/M:55% Skl:40% Spd:30% Lck:20% Def:20% Res:55% For now also really applies to this character. Sophia, the Knight. [spoiler=The Battle] Turn 1: -Everyone huddles around Deke because none of my other troops can take down these axe wielders -Saul gets attacked for 5 damage, but Saul then crits and kills the bandit - Deke the Manakete everybody Turn 2: -Deke then kills another bandit -On Enemy Phase Deke kills another Bandit a Deke level tbh Turn 3: -Saul kills the Archer -Saul then kills the Brigand on Enemy Phase (I may have slightly underestimated Saul) Turn 4: -Dorothy gets the 5000 gold that was obviously never going to be needed by that village -Saul and Deke proceed to kill 3 Bandits Saul getting a pretty good level up Turn 5: -Allen and Company continue towards the boss Turn 6: -Saul kills another Bandit Defense! Turn 7: -Deke kills the Boss Okay, this doesn't mean anything. He can still turn out good. -Allen Seizes Well then. I must say that I didn't expect some of those units to be there and I am quite pleased actually. Allen may just be the best Lord I could've gotten considering my horrible track record of killing healers. Hope enjoyed reading this first chapter and feel free to comment below telling me what I did wrong and what I should try to do next! (I'm not looking at this, but here is the changelog FE6 Changelog.html ) Death Counter: 2
  23. (Note: DO NOT post unit choices in this thread. For that, please go to my planning thread: http://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=63275) Hey all! I'm just about to finish my first playthrough of Birthright, and before I tackle the beast that is Conquest, I wanted to try a PMU just for the heck of it. The rules are as follows: My main team will be composed of 16 units (including the Avatar) You can choose the class, gender, Boon/Bane, and even the name for my avatar if you are so inclined. Since this is an Ironman run, I'm going to have an alternate team of up to 10 units to cover for inevitable deaths No grinding for EXP, supports can be grinded in My Castle Battles Units will be reclassed into their chosen class as soon as possible If a unit needs a specific pairing to obtain a class, please tell me that pairing. I'm still not used to how class inheritance works... The only DLC classes I can use are: 2 Dread Fighters, 1 Great Lord, 1 Lodestar, and 1 Witch/Ballistician Well, that's enough from me! Give me your best (or worst!) units, and I'll try to make them work. 25. Okay, I might be insane, but I'm willing to give this a try. I cannot guarantee I will succeed, but damned if we won't go down without a fight. For those of you not in the know, Long War is a mod for XCom (Enemy Within) that adds a lot of new content, and amps of the difficulty in several ways, while rebalancing it in others. I will be playing with a custom namelist. I've already added in a bunch of Serenes Forest users who've stuck out to me for one reason or another in the past, as well as various other people from other places in my travels across the internet. I have not been arsed to sort names to genders, so if the RNG misgenders you, please do not take offense. If you want to be double-sure your name is on the list, I won't start the playthrough for at least seven days, to give you a chance to reply to the topic and such. Long War also gives you the option to rename your Interceptor pilots. I'm not sure where the game file for that is, so I'll just rename them manually as I order new birds for my hanger. I'll be accepting nominations for the names of these fellas as well. Beta15 of Long War introduces some unique and interesting perks based on your starting country. These might not all be equally balanced, but I will pick the one I want, and you will deal with it. Additionally, I will restart after the first mission until I get steam vents etc. in positions that please me. This is my right, as I'm going to want every edge I can get to have a shot. After that, however, it'll be one save from start to end, just like it is supposed to be. People will die. If you die, either because of RNG or gross incompetence on the part of the commander, do not complain to me. You knew the risks when you enlisted. I don't have a set update schedule planned, but that might change if I get into a nice smooth routine. I will attempt to be as informative as I can be, but XCom is reasonably deep, and sometimes over-familiarity with a subject will numb you to the sorts of questions beginners might have on the subject. If something doesn't make sense, please ask! Updates: Update 0 Update 1 Update 2 Update 3 Update 4 (two parts) Update 5 (two parts) Update 6
