I know there has been at least one other thread like this, but I don't want to necro any threads so here you go.

I'll start with Mega Johto Starters.

for the sake of experiment, since swampert's already got one (praise mega swampert), i went with golduck. golduck has been one of my favourites for fifteen years now, but it's also historically been complete garbage for combat purposes despite cloud nine potentially having interesting benefits in combating weather (at least, before the gen6 weather nerf). its below average bases, part of the problem, do still hinder the effectiveness of mega evolution boosts, but it's worth a try. ANYWAY, i present to you: a hypothetical mega golduck

  • retyped water/fairy
  • retains cloud nine as its ability
  • bases:
    • hp: 80
    • attack: 82 → 72 (-10)
    • defence: 78 → 98 (+10)
    • sp.atk: 95 → 135 (+40)
    • sp.def: 80 → 90 (+10)
    • speed: 85 → 135 (+50)
  • movepool additions: moonblast, thunderbolt

my thinking here is to position mega golduck as being an offensive threat to weather teams (i know, weather teams aren't all that relevant anymore, but that's never stopped game freak before :P) with a focus on nailing pokemon who benefit from weather rather than the setters themselves. by neutralising swift swim et al, mega golduck should be capable of overpowering most of them with its significant stat boosts and has somewhat less to fear in return. it gets thunderbolt to help it tear through most water-type rain users more easily, with moonblast thrown in for good stab measure

needless to say, mega golduck is still threatened plenty by mega venusaur, who with a standard build scoffs at anything m-golduck can throw at it and retaliates with a ohko sludge bomb. mega abomasnow is also capable of putting up a fight; only m-golduck's moonblast has much of a chance of doing anything to it with only an 11% chance of 2hkoing a standard m-abomasnow, while m-abomasnow has a 93% chance of ohkoing mega golduck with giga drain. odds are, once it's released, mega sceptile will be more than capable of tearing it a new asshole as well

it wouldn't surprise me if it's actually not that useful even if we pretended weather didn't get a nerf; i've never been good at the theory side of this stuff

Mega Gallade

The Samurai pokemon

Types: Psychic/Fighting

Ability (new): Precision- Moves that involve slashing or stabbing with this pokemon's arms are guaranteed to become critical hits

Stats:

Attack- 125 + (30)

Defense- 65 + (25)

Special Attack- 65 + (10)

Special Defense- 115 + (10)

Speed- 80 + (25)

New moves that currently exist: Crush Claw, Cross Chop(?), Dragon Claw, Metal Claw, Twineedle, Dual Chop

New moves (new): Quickdraw- Fighting type, 60 bp, 90 acc, +1 priority, physical and makes contact, the pokemon jumps at the opponent and slashes at them faster than the eye can see

Mega Gallade's design would be heavily focused on a Samurai look. He would change to receive a slightly more muscular frame resembling a Samurai's robe, and a hat would form on his head similar to a farmer's straw hat with his head-spike appearing to poke through the top of it. Something similar to wood sandals appear connected to his feet and his legs now resemble a pair of baggy pants. His arm blades would become more slender, but they would reach out farther and could be extended and retraced at will. If retracted, he could produce hands from the tips of his arms. A cloth-like robe would extend down from his hips to his calves and would be billowy and flowy similar to Demise's hair from Skyward Sword. Mega Gallade is bound to fight honorably and with even sharper skill than its predecessor. He can cleave through the strongest armor using the blades on his arms, however he has a caring nature and won't fight unless there is no alternative.

I've always wanted a Mega Gallade, but this is just my take on it, I doubt we'll get anything like this though

Mega Mightyena

Type: Dark/Poison

Ability: Prankster (Hidden Ability: Poison Touch)

HP: 70

Attack: 125 (+35)

Defense: 95 (+25)

Special Attack: 60

Special Defense: 70 (+10)

Speed: 100 (+30)

New Moves: Poison Fang (now a level up move instead of purely egg move), Poison Tail, U-turn, and Venom Drench

I have always viewed Mightyena as a potential Physical sweeper or tactical pokemon that no one supsects. With Mega Mightyena you could choose your method of play depending on which ability you choose. As a Prankster Mightyena can be a early control pokemon. Having access to moves like Taunt, Torment, Swagger, etc with Prankster allows you to take early control of the battle with speed priority going to those moves. Though if you want to make Mightyena a sweeper then use prankster to give yourself fast stat increases. Poison Touch Mightyena can be quite diabolical as well. With most of Mightyena's moves being physical the opponent has a strong chance to be poisoned. Once poisoned you can make their pokemon suffer from stat decreases with Venom Drench. With Poison touch you can also play a more defensive game if you want by substituting to stall and resting when hp gets too low. If you need to switch out quickly for unexpected surprises you can teach it U-turn as well. I haven't thought of the design for Mega Mightyena yet but regular form would be grey, black and purple as it's colors and shiny form will be gold, black, and green to emphasize toxic flare. The idea to make Mightyena a poison type came from a conversation with a friend about what Mightyena was based off of. We agreed that due to the name it must have been based on the Hyena. Hyenas have poisonous bites that lead to fatal infections, so there's where the poison typing comes from.

Mega Sudowoodo:

Typing: Rock/Grass
Ability: Rock Head
HP: 70
Attack: 140 (+40)
Defense: 125 (+10)
Special Attack: 30
Special Defense: 85 (+20)
Speed: 60 (+30)
Gains Head Smash access for domination with a possible set of Rock Polish (makes better use of it, hence the Speed boost), Head Smash, and Wood Hammer.

Mega Weavile:

Typing: Ice/Dark

Ability: Ice Body (HA:Snow Cloak)

HP: 70

Attack: 140 (+20)

Defense: 85 (+20)

Special Attack: 50 (+5)

Special Defense: 85

Speed: 135 (+10)

Ice Body and Snow Cloak both help it when hail's in play.Ice Body restores HP,and Snow Cloak raises it's evasion so it can dodge fire, fighting and steel type moves more easily.I don't know much about a good set,but I do know it would enolve Hail or be paired with Abmasnow(Spelling..).

Someone already suggested Mega Magmortar, but fuck you I'm doing one anyway.

Mega Magmortar

Type: Fire

Ability: Pyrolate (Fire-type Pixilate)

Stats:

Atk: 85 (-10)

Def: 87 (+10)

Sp.Atk: 175 (+50)

Sp.Def: 105 (+10)

Speed: 123 (+40)

Added Moves: Hyper Voice

Behold, the king of Special Sweepers. Hyper Beam would have 270 BP as a Fire-type move; AKA more than you can fucking handle. A set of Hyper Beam/Hyper Voice, Thunderbolt, Focus Blast and Hidden Power whatever (prolly Ice for Grounds and Dragons) destroys the world and hits basically anything in the game for at least neutral damage.

You beat me to the Mega Rapidash idea. Though I always viewed Mega Rapidash as a Pegasus. It makes a ton of sense to me but is that what you imagine Mega Rapidash would be too?

I dunno about that Special Attack gain for Mega Mamoswine, but then again, it'd be pretty OP if that all went into speed.

It's there to boost the effectiveness of Freeze Dry. Putting it anywhere else would be OP. Fur Coat would halve the damage from Grass Knot too which is hilarious.

Ah, understandable.

The only megas I really want are:

Mega Luxray

Mega Masquerain

Mega Sudowoodo

Mega Noctowl

Mega Sceptile and Mega Lopunny are the only megas I'm really hyped for (and in a way, Mega Audino for Doubles), and the ones I mentioned would be awesome additions. If they don't happen, though, thems the breaks. I'd just like megas for the more underappreciated mons.
