I know that the English translation for said lyrics is on the Smash Bros. DOJO:

http://www.smashbros.com/wii/en_us/music/music13.html

Fire Emblem, companions walk

The endless path together.

In the wavering shadow of spite,

Our home is faced by the oncoming spear,

Engulfed in flames.

I keep that unforgettable day in my heart

And now rise up together with my companions.

Fire Emblem, our bond shall be never broken.

We hold fast to protect tomorrow

And the one who awaits our return.

Fire Emblem, light gathers on the flag we unfurl.

Fire Emblem, we gaze upon the multitude of stars,

Gripping our blades.

If we do not bring light to the darkness in these lands,

The shooting stars will soar over a wasteland.

Fire Emblem, on whom does the morning sun shine

As she climbs over the edge of battle?

However, on that video, the Latin lyrics (as said by the author) may be gibberish.

Are there any of you who studied Latin able to confirm the accuracy and offer any corrections?

Fire Emblem,

via sine fine

facile eunt socil

umbra labi inhi di villam,

aha ast que hasbe est sa. vera anhamst vera nini,

ureni ninimuhe

Nihi illam diem nihili,

benectue diparoga,

nunc sonctum,

loho socii oririam

Fire Emblem,

nostrum vinculum,

numquam abruptur.

uru tre li nihim lorem,

dihisi nihim,

bisnu husbasbi elum,

que est direm serebe.

Fire Emblem,

arde sine,

su ba arto conchi est mu

Fire Emblem,

nunc fa este quam,

fisi cilete est deupe rego

urufra wa era elum hutam,

despara kara hate.

are hest est bulimus,

divu vasta devo

Fire Emblem,

veillum usva fi valus,

sol rege,

Fire Emblem,

via sine fine,

facile eunt socii

I remember Alfred was pretty helpful on the what we concluded was pretty much gibberish I had with the "I" ~ Because/Id(Purpose) lyrics.

I only had the basic Latin class, but it looks like somebody was making up words when they wrote this because I could only find one or two words that were actually Latin.

My mother (Latin teacher) had a quick look at it and had the following to say: "Some of it is Latin." I'll try my best at translating it.

Fire Emblem,

the endles path

companions walk with ease

[i was going to try to translate this paragraph, but there's too much gibberish to make anything of it.]

['nihi' is gibberish] that day of nothing

[too much gibberish in the rest of the paragraph]

Fire Emblem,

our bond, ['vinculum' is actually 'bond' in the meaning of 'chain']

it shall never be broken. ['abruptur' is not a word, but I'm guessing they were going for 'abrumpetur']

[Paragraph too full of gibberish.]

[Again too much gibberish.]

[Latin does not even have a W.]

[i believe 'usva' is a Finnish word.]

the sun by the king

[more gibberish]

Fire Emblem,

the endless path

companions walk with ease

I never took any kind of class or anything on Latin, but I did recognize one word there that IS from the language. Umbra, meaning "shadow." So some of it IS actually Latin. But that's all I can say. I'm no expert and only know a few Latin words.

And I made up my own lyrics to the FE theme at some point anyway. lol

I actually think the Latin is not as bad as it may seem. Did the uploader of this video write down the lyrics by hearing themselves? I think that's where it went wrong. For example, I think 'aha ast' should be 'hasta', which actually would make sense (and match the English translation). I'm really bad at hearing song lyrics though and I don't even know what Latin pronunciation was used for this song (reconstructed, anglicized, ecclesiastical?)

Yeah, that's pretty much what they did from the description.

Thank you for all your help!

I was just curious at how accurate it was. The Smash Dojo pretty much didn't bother with the ACTUAL lyrics and just listed the Japanese and English (and other language) translations.

JUST making sure you didn't miss the "official" English translations.

From the transcription it looks like half actual Latin words (not sure if proper sentences since I haven't done Latin in years since I graduated high school) and half entirely not Latin. If it's transcribed by hearing then there's a small chance the entire thing is legit because it's not easy transcribing anything from songs (and from what I can tell, it's pronounced with choral/church latin while I studied classical latin so the pronunciations are different), but it could just be half latin half gibberish anyway.

I'm banking on the latter. Also translators tend to flesh out the translations in the translated language either because the original isn't done that well (esp if written by people whose not of that native language) or if the original is very nuanced. Once I read over the lyrics to a completely unrelated song to this, but it was italian opera written by japanese people (il mare eterno nella mia anima for the jojo fans), and I compared the translation on the wiki to whatever I can read off the top of my head in Italian from the lyrics directly, and the translation fancied it up a lot more. The original was a lot simpler and contained possible grammatical errors which I can't confirm because I've only taken 1 and a half semesters of Italian so far.

So basically, like "I"~Because/Id (Purpose) we can pretty much give up on the dream of "singing along" accurately with the actual correct lyrics, and the closest we'll get is gibberish?

Yes, unless someone who speaks Latin can hear what the actual lyrics are and share them. Or we'd have to convince Nintendo to go through their archives to look them up and publish them.

Hi guys! Here's what I compiled, looking at other translations:

Fire Emblem iter sine fine.
Vadite eris sociis!
umbrae labantem invidiae ac sanguinans diritas!
villae hastam velavit ignibus ab aditus est!
ego illam diem commemorabam!
nunc simul cum meis socii oriar!
Fire Emblem, nostrum vinculum numquam frangamur.
Dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun
Plausible
Ut relicum manendi consistimus insuper hastilium qui diem salvae!
Fire Emblem, ad insigne summato coheres lux.
Fire Emblem, multa stella suspicis tenens tuum ferro.
Umbra terra haud quadam es aura adducere, harenes adsurgus dium astra terram!
Fire Emblem, de illustra qui vallum oriens fulgebunt?
