Touhou Super Smash Battles

So an independent game company is creating a fighting game which uses many of the mechanics prevalent in Super Smash Bros Melee for the Nintendo GameCube, with many if not all of the fighters being Touhou characters. The project has an Indiegogo campaign going and is looking to raise $10,000 to produce the game and eventually release it on the Nintendo E-Shop.

This game is planned to be compatible with the Nintendo GameCube controller adapter, will apparently revive some of the techniques lost in the shift from Melee to Brawl such as wavedashing, and the gameplay is reminiscent of although not quite exactly like Melee's.

There's a preliminary video showing off early gameplay at the top of the Reddit link if anyone's interested, although it is rather rough due to the project not being funded yet. I'm not a big fan of the series myself, but I figured someone else would appreciate it

aren't there people who liked that unironically

actually, why don't these people just take Hisoutensoku and port it to the 3DS if they want a Touhou fighter on the system so badly?

Yep, I've been aware of this for some while, and I find it a great idea

"a while" = less than 24 hours ok

to be fair that's about when I and everyone else saw the thread on reddit

also for people too lazy to look at the indiegogo page, there are additional new mechanics/etc that op didn't mention, most notably everyone getting a float like peach's

1- Free Float! All characters can float around similar to Peach, or Mewtwo from SSBB Project M. It allows for a unique air combo game!

2- Wake-up Grab: To improve options for counter-play, a grounded enemy has the option to grab upon wake-up!

3- Air Grab: All characters have three standard air grabs: Up, Side, and Down!

4- Spell Cards: Touhou is at it's core a Bullet Hell shooter, and we wanted to make sure that aspect of it was present in this derivative game. However, it is incorporated in a way that character balance in the game still takes priority unlike Smash Bros Brawl's "Final Smash" mechanic which left certain characters with major advantages over others randomly.

5- Overwhelm, when 2 characters grab each other at the same time they will struggle, the winner of the struggle busts out a very powerful attack.
