Post Limits and Topic Creation Requirements

i joined this forum very recently, and basically only to post a dumb fe8 hack i made that makes seth's head tiny, but i have to make an unspecified number of posts before i can make a topic in fan projects. (there was nothing said in the rules about how to make a fan projects topic either, by pure dumb luck i came across a post that mentioned it) also, for some unfathomable reason, i was allowed to make two posts before having to wait 24 hours to post again. even though basically all i wanted to do was give everyone a dumb hack, (maybe learn to make some hacks of bigger scope if i feel like it) and leave, but i have to wait possibly several days to post it. why? i thought the post requirement might be there to encourage people to interact with the community, but that's pretty hindered by the post limit. maybe the limit grows with time and is meant to prevent spam or something, but two posts at the beginning is pretty severe.

The post requirement is unspecified to prevent spambots or other entities from flooding the forums with topics linking to viruses and the like.  Likewise, the post limit is to prevent spammers from spamming from new/alternate accounts.  Yeah, rules already say "no spamming", but this is so that those who join literally just to spam are incapable of doing so - the rules are meant mostly for those who actually plan to interact with and be part of the community.

Well it is to prevent spam, but the limit only applies to topic creation, not to comments on other posts. It's more so a botstopper, as bots just make threads, with time, you will be able to make a few more topics, so go have fun interacting with the community.

Also, if you click, the arrow next to your name in the top right corner and go into account settings, you can add a cool signature with which you can advertise your hack for anybody to check out.

Have fun and good luck!

i guess that makes sense, i don't really know much about what's the best way to handle spam and stuff

It's rude to register solely to dump your hack here.  The least you can do is get to know the people here.

this site is a good resource for finding fire emblem hacks. one of the most annoying things about romhacks is there isn't really one site that has everything, (romhacking.net is kinda sparse) so i want to post it here. if i don't want to interact with the community that's my choice, but i'm not opposed to a small post requirement just to give people a little nudge. my problem is the severe post limit hindering that interaction and the long wait time necessary to make the topic. but after being able to make posts again the limit seems to have gotten a lot more lenient, so it isn't as bad as i thought.

So you're posting here solely for visibility? Take moment to think about how bad this sounds from a mod's PoV.

The reasons why the posting restrictions are here aren't to stymie new users.  It's to keep the mods sane.  Once upon a time, there were no restrictions.  I still have nightmares about what happened.

you call putting a hack here and leaving "rude" and ask "how bad this sounds" but i don't really see how it would harm anyone. and why would lowering the wait time be such a headache for the mods? the only way i can see it being a problem is spam, and i already conceded that point
