  1. By the way, an addition to my previous post:
  2. Except, with other JRPGs, it works due to the fact that you’re fighting multiple enemies with multiple party members all the time, and the exp gain is not nearly as large. In Pokemon, it’s 99.99% one-on-one, and the exp gain is much larger. And the better argument-even the games with forced exp have the option to turn it off, such as Dragon Quest XI. Having it as default is fine-but being unable to remove it goes against player choice, which means Masuda/Game Freak lied when it was said they wanted players to play however they want to play. I prefer to be below or equal to the level curve of my opponents, not sharply ahead.
  3. Is game freak still using the same staff from the beginning? That might be the problem. When Mario and Zelda got some new blood in them and the older staff took a step back, breath of the wild and odyssey were ridiculously successful and still really good (kink’s and flaws aside) with the former having a sequel for the series’ first time in a decade. Game Freak needs to do the same.
  4. The Dragon Quest/Monsters side of things, yes. Major Rival/Champion/Postgame battle spoilers I hope it’s fake.
  5. I'm more worried about E.V.s. Does it still spread those around?
  6. I suppose, while I at least look at some positives about the game, I should mention the team that I'm leaning towards. Cinderace/Coalossal, Corviknight, Grimmsnarl, Frosmoth, Flapple/Appletun, Dredgnaw
  7. Again, that's the worst part. There are so many good things in this game, so many exciting things. But that just makes these flaws stand out all the more.
  8. Seeing the numbers honestly makes it even worse. This game has less Pokemon than games from over a decade ago.
  9. Here's a fitting quote I found on Twitter. "ffs lets be real either the leaks are fake, or theres a launch day patch, theres no way that the big console debut of the biggest franchise has only 14 more pokemon than a gameboy advanced game, right? no way the first ds game has93 more pokemon than the first switch one. Right?!"
  10. My only issue is I'm always a bit of a wretch when it comes to used games. It's one thing when the game is really old and I have no choice, but I tend to have trust issues. Granted, I'll probably forego my tendencies anyway, since this IS really fucked up.
  11. coughVerlisifycough I don't condone piracy, but like...I've never had a game that I did want to play, but didn't want to buy it. I either wanted to buy it and play it (even if I didn't play much, like Generation V), or I wanted nothing to do with it (like Let's Go)
  12. It's so bad GameXplain (which, YMMV on whether or not you agree/disagree/like/dislike them) gave this game their first (as far as I and most others can recall) their ONLY [HATED] review score.
  13. Look, I know the joke is that Pokemon fans only started having "standards" when they announced they were cutting Pokemon, but honestly, this is just the straw that broke the camel's back. We've been seeing cuts for years, and now, it's the main stars of the series, the Pokemon themselves. I won't deny that, eventually, yes, there would be simply too many Pokemon to juggle to make things work in this series, and that they would have to make cuts. However, I disagree that now was the time. Especially since, a LOT of stuff is really watered down in comparison. Dynamax and Gigantamax, for example, is utterly uninteresting, and homogenized to the extreme degree. If you watch the clips involving them, you'll see that, no matter what type of move you use, special, or physical, weak, or strong, unless it is a status move, when you use it on a Max Pokemon with a normal Pokemon, it's a generic, differently-colored splash effect. Water Gun? Blue splash. Aqua Jet? Blue splash. Hydro Pump? Blue splash. Waterfall? Blue splash. Not to mention, the same goes for the Max Pokemon when they use their moves, only it involves status moves, too. All status moves become, what? That shield move? And every other move is homogenized into one master attack for each type. Let's also add that they make the Max sizes largely the same, too. I. E. Raichu actually appearing just as big as Gyarados when both are Maxed. And people, let's get on with those. Any character model is locked to a grid in standard scenes. Why? Why do they walk in an L down a large, spacious hallway down a corner? They could walk in a C to go around corners, but no. SHARP ANGLES ALL THE WAY, baby. Battles are still stuck in that same, Gen 1-5 camera angle where your vision is partially behind your Pokemon. Give us some interesting camera work, GF! Let's also add that a lot of Pokemon are not sized properly in battle, and even sometimes, the overworld. Why make Wailord ENORMOUS if he's not going to be bigger than a car? Why include Wailord at all, for that matter? And I know the argument could be that he'd block up the screen, but this isn't the GBA/DS/3DS. This is the SWITCH, and Max Pokemon are a thing. The only reason I can think of for why he's so small is so that he doesn't conflict with the Max Pokemon, which, regardless, are even more massive. There's a lot of good things in this game, there really are. But there's even more wonky, wrong-ass problems that make this game appear so inconsistent and stick out like a sore thumb.
  14. A) Meowth is, I guess, fairly popular. The in-game explanation will likely be similar to Alolan Meowth, in that it was imported and evolved over time. B) I think the only way these games are going to improve are if they're pried from GameFreak's cold, unforgiving clutches. Personally, I'd like Square Enix to handle these games. If Game Freak has to be involved, give them a major backseat. Maybe let them design characters, monsters, and story, but don't touch ANYTHING else. WEAK.
  15. That reminds me. I'm wondering if they're going to have the Alolan variants of certain Pokemon in this game or not, because that list doesn't exactly show that. Looks like Grimer went exctinct after all.
  16. The leaks were getting me excited until this. Ho-lee shit.
  17. Weren't Terriers bred in England? Why, then, is the Lillipup line not here? Is there no Poke-England in the Poke-United Kingdom? I'm starting to notice a lot of Pokemon that have multiple forms, like Castform, or a particular visual gimmick, like Spinda and Vivillon.
  18. I was thinking they'd probably cut out legendaries, mythicals, and MAYBE like, one-of-a-kind Pokemon, like Silvally. This is beyond overboard.
  19. And it looks like, excluding mythicals, we have seen every single new Pokemon and Galarian form this game has to offer in its Pokedex. All that's left are any unknown Gigantamax Pokemon. It looks like Koffing does the same thing as Cubone did back in Alola, though.
  20. The only way GameFreak is gonna rethink this, since they've already said they're standing by it, is if Nintendo and TPC as a whole crack down on them. As it is, if 1000 people truly had input on this game, then this was the biggest mismanagement of such resources that I have ever seen in my life.
  21. Well, Slaking isn't in the game, so that's one double battle partner for Galarian Weezing we don't need to worry about. They took out Smeargle, so if there was any breeding shenanigans made easier with him, that's out, now. Probably didn't wanna code in the capability for all those moves, I'd wager. I'm not surprised at the removal of most fossil Pokemon. I AM surprised that they took out gen 3-4's pseudo-legendaries, but then again, those were the best of the best. I find it wild a lot of the choices they made. And I'm more surprised that not every Kanto Pokemon is in. But this is...a really steep cut, and I gotta say, I like a lot of the game that I've seen so far, but I really don't think it's worth this massive a cut.
  22. Probably something to do with cutting back on a lot of legendaries. Which...I'm okay with? I mean, it's kind of whatever to me for them. Can I just add, I like Charizard, and I like Charizard a lot, but having him be the ONLY OTHER STARTER LINE in this game is REALLY, REALLY STUPID. Edit: Wait a minute, then why is Mew still there!?
  23. I'm not done looking yet, but...what the hell? The Meltan line isn't in this game? Then what the hell was the point of all the stuff with him in Let's Go and Pokemon Go?
  24. If I had to guess, Eternatus is probably something of a contaminating Pokemon, and it helps when the wolves are without their gear. Took a look at the pastebin. Looks like Glameow's line is still stuck being available only from Sinnoh.
  25. It's apparently Poison/Dragon. They're good bois, regardless.
