  1. Awkward pairings aside, I've never felt Hector was overrated, but perhaps misunderstood. He was definitely attached to fulfilling his destiny, but I've always felt that Hector was not as colored as Eliwood or Lyn in the story. By that, I mean he seemed like a less emotional character than Lyn or Eliwood, and Uther's part in the story didn't help much. Yeah, they got angry, but they never expressed much of other feelings. Combat wise, however, I am certainly not a fan of Eliwood or Lyn (maybe having two sword-wielding lords has something to do with it) but Hector always seemed like a stronger fighter. Lyn was basically a Swordmaster who could later wield a bow, and Eliwood in the endgame simply becomes a glorified Cavalier. Having an axe-wielder as a lord was nice. If trained up, he is basically like a Beserker with decent speed and superb defense, comparable to a Knight, and sometimes a General.
  2. I don't use savestates. Only in ROM hacks for bug reporting. I agree with those who said using 'em to abuse the RNG, especially to rig a characters' survival, is just not playing the game right. This is the reason why Intelligent Systems implemented the unique saving of every move. It's like playing chess. If you get your ass kicked, you're not allowed to revert and try from an earlier point. It's Fire Emblem. Death and wrong moves can happen. It's supposed to be difficult.
  3. I never found HHM to be hard. I had Hector 20/16 by Final Chapter. Mainly, I used Oswin, Rebecca, Lowen, Pent, and Nino through my game. Hector became a walking lance wrecker, Oswin for blocking annoying enemy reinforcements, Rebecca because super dodgy and accurate, Lowen since he could rescue n' shit, Pent for ruining armor, and Nino for 2HKO on magic enemies. Overall CoD was hardest since... y'know, Lloyd spamming his Light Brand, and Oswin wasn't fast enough to hit.
  4. So, I decided to give this hack a try, and so far its fairly decent. Before I forget, I'm gonna point out a VERY minor bug. In Ch. 2, the tile directly under the mountain cave/entrance is labeled as a village ingame. No village exists, nor does any Visit option appear. Regardless, this is nicely done. Oh yeah, are some of the generic brigand mugs (in the text scenes) supposed to have nonexistant eyes? I can't tell if this was done on purpose or if they are merely unfinished, i.e. missing eye frames.
  5. Cannot say I've ever promoted early. I don't do it, ever. Maybe Sain, but that's it. In one of my FE7 playthroughs, I had Priscilla level 20/18 by Epilogue. Valkyries like that bring inevitable doom. O'course, FE8 is kinda doable, with Tower, Ruins, and Skirmishes/Creature Campaign.
  6. Marisa > Joshua > Guy > Karla > Rest are history... Marisa's always been my favorite. Her supports are pretty humorous, and she pwns as both Assassin and Swordmaster
