  1. Hi,

    I'm currently trying to think of how a literal version (I.E. The Assassin's Creed Brotherhood Literal Trailer by Tobuscus) of the Fire Emblem If trailer works out. It's gonna die

    In all seriousness though, does anyone have any opinions on how to do this?

    Leaning more toward the April trailer here.

  2. Those criticals were awesome. Me and a friend at school tend to yell those critical/skill activation quotes at each other when we're board.

    "PICK A GOD AND PRAY!" "I'M GONNA KILL YOU!!" "KAH-CHING!" "I make deep cuts." "How well will you die?" Out of context it's pretty great. Looking forward to more quotes.

    IT'S TIME TO SHIP THE SCALES!

    Yeah, I doubt they are going to ditch it. Although they need more puns. A lot more puns.

    EDIT: Welp, that didn't work out. I'll take a look at what IPBoard supports. Really bad documentation on their part.

  4. I'm actually hoping for something somewhat like in Devil Survivor Overcloaked:

    [spoiler=Naoya Eighth Day]

    You get to choose whether to kill the demon tamers, or DON'T TOUCH THEM.

    In other words, I would like to see a sort of "Evil Scale" in the game. With "Kill 'em All" being in the far end of it.

  5. IT'S TIME TO SHIP THE SCALES.

    Let another endless rain of self inserts, Mary Sues/Garry Stus, Fourth Wall Breaking, and other... stuff... great...

    I think someone did write one at Fanfiction.net or whatnot. I'll check later.

    EDIT: Found it. "If the Red Thread Snaps". Wow. That... was really short in my terms.

    EDIT 2: Why Wingdings? Use the Madoka-Witch font or whatever it's called. It will look more... serene?

  6. I'm going to assume the entertainment section includes conventions.

    For the last... 4 years of attending various conventions/events, I never really got a way to catch all the events I really wanted. Does anyone actually know how to properly plan for a convention? From what I seen, I had to skip every other time slot, but that's about it.

    Also, who cosplays for cons?

  7. Pretty much. In order to broadcast the 1080p signal you pretty much need a HDMI cable as components will only output up to 1080i.

    I don't know enough about DVI RedFox but this simple adapter MIGHT solve your problem and get your resolution up to 1080p.

    http://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-Rated-Speed-Bi-Directional/dp/B00K7HECTQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1427762605&sr=8-2&keywords=wii+dvi+to+hdmi

    Strangely enough, I actually did have this sort of problem while running my school anime club. I blame the old school projector, where does the budget go?

    In any case, my HDMI to VGA adapter (somehow) works in full HD. I sadly can't give a demo, for I tend to leave my laptop at school(It literally needs an external keyboard, I'm not taking that thing home). According to what I have seen, DVI is superior to VGA, so... yeah. There is a really good change that the adaptor should work for higher qualities.

    P.S. Heard good stuff about Cable Matters. The link he shown seems to be a good deal.

  8. Listing in order of what may best fit your interests, but I honestly have no idea. Keeping the list to things I've personally watched/played and can recommend, rather than passing on rumors.

    Devilman Lady (episode 3 especially gives me chills just remembering it, a little monster of the weeky at times was its only real downside)

    3x3 Eyes (old classic)

    Narutaru (hidden under a veneer of light airy faux-shoujo, imo)

    Bokurano (more psychological, actually but I can't not recommend it)

    Hitsugi no Uta (kind of incesty, IIRC, and slow-paced)

    Shikabane-Hime (maybe counts?)

    Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro (more mystery/supernatural, but I feel it has strong horror undertones in parts)

    ......

    Blood(+/c/etc.) (more supernatural action really, sasuga vampire animes, still probably closer to horror than Hellsing though)

    Claymore (maybe too shouneny but has a few good moments)

    Gantz (probably fails your gore test, tbh)

    Elfen Lied (see my note on Gantz)

    Shigofumi (a bit of a more peaceful take on traditional underworldy stuff, wouldn't really call it horror but...)

    Shinigami no Ballad (see my note on Shigofumi)

    VN

    Saya no Uta (not safe for life, seriously if you're under 18 don't even. quite lovecrafty imo)

    Atlach=Nacha (Japanese only atm, not for arachnophobes)

    Moon. (don't let the fact that it was done by people who later went on to form Key fool you...)

    Chaos;Head (some of the delusion triggers are delicious)

    Aoishiro (all ages, lesbian overtones, dead ends galore)

    Tsukhime (and old standby at this point)

    Steins;Gate (I only saw the anime yet, I still need to fix that, might not fully count as "horror" but nitro+ so including anyway)

    Hanachirasu (if you're familiar with "food porn", this is basically "swordfight porn" as far as I remember, with a few dystopian possibly horror-esque but probably not really, but nitro+ so listing)

    apologies for the not incredibly detailed explanations, if you need more elaboration ask.

    That's... quite a few. Looks like I got a whole bunch to binge.

    Probably going to try Chaos;Head after Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. Veeeery interesting. I'll look them up when I can.

  9. Have not seen a recent thread on RPG Maker games, so I guess I'll create a new one.

    [spoiler=Favourite in General]

    Misao

    What can I say. It's horror. It's hilarious. It has a bonus story. It also has a piano. And best of all, you can die...

    ...by not listening to someone play the said piano.

    And it even made me create a "Sempai, DON'T notice me" joke... which died along with my computer.

    [spoiler=Favourite Horror]

    The Crooked Man

    I'd say this one is actually the most scary for me. Yeah, aren't many monsters, but the atmosphere gave me chills nonetheless.

    [spoiler=Favourite RPG-ish]

    Last Word

    I will be very honest here. You literally win by

    shutting people up telling everyone to be quiet in a highly sophisticated manner.

    Wonderful plot, and terrible puns of awesomeness.

    [spoiler=The best one to troll your friends]

    Yanderella

    Even the name gives people the creeps. It's one of those sappy romances, until... well, I won't ruin it. But remember, Bad Ending = Bad Ending. True Ending = Happy Ending... or maybe not.

  10. Interesting.I will be sure to give those a try. Although I probably should of added Yume Nikki and Silent Hill to my already done list. Yume Nikki was a bit... strange, but amusing nonetheless. Silent Hill 2, however, was actually quite scary(and a bit desturbing).

    Taking a look at Higurashi no Naku Koro ni right now.

    EDIT: Should of added Dreaming Mary too. I liked that one a lot more than Yume Nikki.

  11. Welp, just looking for more horror anime/visual novels/RPG Maker stuff. So... anyone got anything?

    Things I already seen:

    Anime:

    Lucky Star Another

    I loved this one. People may call me a sadist, but I find the sudden deaths amusing. And hilarious, some times.

    Shiki

    Wonderful show about vampire/zombies.( I kind of ship Megumi and Natsuno, but that's for ANOTHER post).

    Not sure what else actually counts as horror here. Future Diary seems more gore than scares. RAINBOW... same thing.

    Visual Novels:

    None so far. Looking forward to seeing a few, though.

    RPG MAKER (Not sure if this counts as games):

    Ib

    The crayon-y scene kind of ruined the horror aspect. Eh, other parts were good though.

    Witch's House

    Loved it.

    Mermaid Swamp

    More visual novel-y, but again, loved it.

    Yume Nikki

    Interesting... I guess? This one kind of confuses me.

    Dreaming Mary

    It's nice, sweet, and sort of like a certain anime featured in the "Make A Contract" badge. That said...

    [spoiler=DM Spoiler]

    It's a trap! It's not nice and fluffy after all!

    Anything translated by VGPerson.

    Other Stuff:

    Silent Hill 2 & 4

    Keyword: Horror, not gore. Gore's fine, but I want a good scare now and then.

  12. If you have read the B support of Stahl and Miriel, Miriel has stated that Stahl had precisely hit every median in the entire army.

    Lets make this legit. For no reason, lets make ALL of Stahl's stats become the median of the entire army. This includes Max HP, Strength, Magic, Skill, Speed, Luck, Defence, and Resistance. If you have done this momentous(ly silly) task, post your exploit here.

  13. Hi,

    For a while now, I have been thinking of how to make a Fire Emblem engine. Yes, I am fully aware people can make rom hacks and all, but I want to do this for a few reasons.

    [spoiler=Reasons why.]

    1. Rom hacks can be quite limited in terms of graphics. If someone wants to make, say, a HD version for reasons unknown, they should be able to. No questions asked.
    2. It will be open source. As an open source program, it should allow ANYONE to add new features if they choose. If they want to make a food system(unit's ability to fight determined by how hungry they are?), let them! It may be a hit! It may not as well.
    3. It will make things easier for FE game devolpers. Chances are, Nintendo didn't want any of their games to be rom hacked, or even ripped, for the matter. However. This rewrite will be made for people to have their own FE "games" or whatnot. Kudos to the person who makes a game based on Soul Eater.
    4. Why make a fanfiction, when you can make a fangame?
    5. Negates the need to get an emulator.
    6. Why would I want to do that? Because I want to know how it works. (Quote comes from Assembly Language Step by Step, by Jeff Duntemann).

    In any case, I would like to make the program be able to...:
    [spoiler=Features]

    1. Use games from external databases. I want to create an engine, not an actual game. As such, the program will not contain any levels, characters, items, etc, but should be able to open, and execute, such files.
    2. Allow the user to use either the keyboard+mouse, or a game controller.
    3. Contain a generic menu for options such as video/audio settings, controls, and all the works.

    Now, the main question is: HOW should I make this program, in terms of programming? There are some more simple matters such as,

    [spoiler=Confusing Stuff]

    [spoiler=Item Class]

    • The item class, which contains:
      • A string for the display name of the item.
      • A flexible array of special_effect objects. I.E. a life absorb object. I want a little advice with this, because I have no idea on how to implement this for actual battles.
      • Another flexible array of super_effective types. Why an array? Weapons like Falchion.
      • A description object. Why turn such an uneeded thing into a class? Because it appears everywhere, that's why.
      • A character for a weapon type('S' for Sword, "L" for Lance, "A" for Axe, "B" for bow, and all?). I'm wondering if this should be an integer ID instead.
      • 4 integers:
        • durability - Still wondering how to make the weapon breaking feature.
        • might, accuracy, and critical_rate.
      • Some sort of reference to a sprite.
      • Another flexible array of sprites for battle animations and whatnot.

    I would add more, except I'm apparently out of time. For now, this is only an idea. I have no plans on actually commiting on this yet.
