  1. Just did a major update, mostly changing the starting stats of most units, changing some inventories a bit, editing all changed items and weapons back to their normal fe8 stats, etc. Also removed the ability to wield swords from Tethys, as there's honestly no need to have her fighting anyway when she can be giving your good combat units a second turn instead. In addition, any units that swap with Myrrh or a dancer (i.e. Artur in both versions, Gerik in Eirika version, and Kyle in Ephraim version) are now promoted level one instead of unpromoted level one so they're more useable out of the gate. Also changed a few classes to match my current preferences (for example Amelia is now a cav instead of a knight in Eirika patch).

For consideration: potential nerfing to Neimi, Franz, and Chapter 17 Eirika boss fight? I found in my playtesting that their high avoid combined with being on thrones made them incredibly hard to hit. I still managed to beat them by using Rapier Marisa, but even her hit rates, while above 50, weren't super reliable. Considering maybe nerfing their luck down to 0 so that they're easier to hit without being nerfed too hard?

uhm, how the hell do i install this?

use a ups patcher such as NUPS, it's pretty intuitive, you just select apply patch, pick your fe8 rom and the patch to apply, and then have it patch it onto the rom

I mean, you can get Daniela, Lloyd, Llewellyn, Nichol, Candace, Tarba, Daichi, and Funke from it but I dunno if any of them are considered remotely worthwhile. Haitaka really seems to be the big one from what I can tell.

Daniela is decent from my experience. She comes with Savage Blow, which is nice.

    New ones I've thought up:

    • Route the Enemy objectives don't bother me because with my play-style I end up killing all the enemies anyways (most of the time)

Saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame, tbh. I think I like seize the most as an objective though because it gives me complete control over when the chapter ends.

So it looks like the biggest point is whether we have/need an honest percentage or otherwise.

As an update my original point, I don't care too much about whether the percentages are honest of otherwise. When I first played FE (Binding Blade), I had no idea about the RNG mechanism, and it wasn't really something that I could care either. It was only until when I started playing Awakening that I found out that 2RN was such a thing. If it works in actual practice - which I think it mostly did, again considering how long that lasted - then I question whether the percentage honesty really matters at all.

The other problem I just thought of now is, dodge-oriented units in 1RN/honest percentage would have to have a resultant 0-10/15% chance of being hit by the enemy, to have the same dodgetank viability as 2RN games. If I am correct, that's a smaller margin of window for such viability, and it will require much more fine-tuning in relevant stats (Speed, Luck, Skill etc) for both player and enemy units and their weapons. Actually, do anyone know how useful Swordmasters are in Thracia 776?

Well, you get 5 swordmasters, two of which start in the class. Of said 2, Eyvel is useful when you have her, but is kinda deadweight once you get her back in chapter 24x, while the other, Shannam, is a joke character whose only use is buying things at a discount with his bargain skill. Shiva is probably the best of them, having the best availability, a PCC of 4, Sol, and oddly high Str and Def growths for his class(45% and 30% respectively), and while his speed growth is pretty low for a myrm(35%), it's offset by his high base(12) and Thracia's low caps. Mareeta is very good as well, despite joining kinda underleveled, she has very good offensive growths(though her defense is pretty bad), luna and eventually astra, a PCC of 5, and a personal weapon that has a brave effect, 20% crit, and the nihil skill. Troude is okay, but very unremarkable compared to Shiva and Mareeta.

I don't see it mattering much when weapon rank doesn't rise at a snail's pace.

lmao no. Go play Radiant Dawn, where boosted crit enemies are common, then we'll talk.

Did you seriously just try arguing Stefan isn't the best SM in PoR because RD has a lot of boosted crit enemies? You do know those are two different games, right?

  6. lmao Ana you need to chill. So what if other people don't like your favorite character?

Anyway, I'll also jump on the Ike is bad train for reasons others have already stated.

FE6 is better than FE7, which is super overrated.

I actually like Makalov. He makes for great comic relief, and I love his silly design.

    Permadeath is a bad mechanic.

I don't like defense chapters all that much. I prefer being able to take as much time as I want with a chapter rather than being on a strict time limit, and most can be easily trivialized by camping.

This is the exact same thing I said- in reverse, pretty much. Class-wise, they have the capability of doing so, but that doesn't mean it works the same way in practice. Someone like Gaius will never really be competent to that. Then there's Anna, who actually uses it well. It's one weapon with low amount of uses, too. Almost the same could be said about the Thunder Axe, then.

Well yeah, the character needs to have a competent enough magic stat in the first place to wield the Levin Sword effectively. Otherwise, the may as well go assassin.

I fucking love the class for the mere case of it's design. Utility-wise, I can't even see why it would be bad. It heals, and that's enough to give it some degree of important use. Regarding to actual practice, that's where it "goes wrong". Given a subject like, say, Liz. Her Str will usually be very lacking (and her Spd isn't that great, either albeit good growth). Libra performs pretty solidly in combat, and can even pull through with some investment.

    tl;dr no they're pretty good

Actual subject should be on Tricksters.

Tricksters are very good candidates for the Levin Sword.
