  1. Pretty much that. This type of drafting in FE6 is inherently unbalanced; the vast majority of available units range from bad to mediocre (niche uses but unsatisfactory in general gameplay), and there are very few good early units. I knew this when I signed up for the draft, however, so I'm just being petty, especially since because my best clear of C4 is 4 turns behind yours due to the presence of one solid earlygame unit (albeit with rigged growths). It wasn't anything against you, I'm rigging pretty heavily myself, it was more annoyance with the situation. You just got lucky with first pick, so no hard feelings. For the most part. I wish I could be lucky too.

  2. Or Ogier, as he's apparently called now. Are undrafted units allowed to die while not countering?

    C1: 9/9

only went <10 turns because rng abuse. fuck roy. and those super accurate 30%s. and that village.

    C2: 10/19

rip Lot and Shanna (Thany was cuter). I couldn't find a way to 10 turn without their most honorable deaths. please tell me they're allowed to die. also why is the rapier running out of uses already.

    C3: 12/31

all my turncounts are probably wildly inaccurate due to all the cheating rn abuse I will invariably do. if I'd been a true cheater I could've rigged 2 3% crits in a row to get 11 turns but then I'd feel too guilty.

C4: let's be honest if I somehow finish I'm going to be last place. also fuck roy.

The drafting order is as follows:

    1. Carmine Sword

    Chapter 3: 9/25

    ಠ_ಠ

  3. ruadath is probably going for Fiora instead, in which case EXP for Florina becomes less relevant; he already changed the topic poll.

I thought 2 keys were needed for the quickest clear of Dragon's Gate? One for the first door and one for the door leading to the throne?

  4. Overall, the major reason I don't like FE7 is because 1: If you want to start a new file, you have to sit through a tutorial that literally dictates your EVERY action. (I heard hard mode averts this, but you can't even do that until after you beat the game once!) 2: If I don't want my characters to die, they can only wield iron or silver weapons for the majority of the game. Heck, even the legendary weapons will get them killed because they weigh them down too much!

I can sit through a bad story so long as the gameplay is good and I can attach myself to a character. The tutorial really turns me off, though. :/

There's a Tutorial Slayer patch floating around in the Fan Projects forum, which makes the game more bearable, I'd recommend checking it out. Compared to the SNES games, GBA gameplay is a little bland, but easy to adapt to.

  5. I'm note really sure about the specifics of the upcoming chapters yet, but I doubt that Harken will be recruited in an LTC (I think he shows up late?).

Ahem. I got pretty close once to a 3 turn + Warp by getting Boots!Fiora to the village on the second turn and dropping Warp in the convoy, and then getting Priscilla, Serra, and Pent to warp important people (IIRC Sain, Florina, Heath, then Priscilla herself) to give them a boost. My issue was that if Heath or Sain went for the boss, they wouldn't survive even with a Pure Water, and Linus did too much damage to Florina and Priscilla. Ninis' Grace (yes, I'm going there,) could have helped, but I'm Ninian was needed elsewhere. I didn't know about the trigger zones, which probably would have helped. However, I didn't do the previous chapters as in absolute LTC format, and I recall spending a few turns to get my staffbots higher magic, but you should be able to cover that by rigging. I doubt you'll be using both Serra and Priscilla either, but hopefully this helps you.

  6. Eliwood probably wants Spd/Def at this point, he's probably still being doubled by myrmidons and maybe a couple of mercs.

Edit: Actually, the enemy stats page says that the mercs have 10 attack speed at most, but doubling increases your damage output more. He also still can't double enemy cavs.

  7. +1 for "the game is easy after you have mastered all the mechanics" or rather, "you'll know how to play the game well after you learn how to play the game".

I'd still say the games provide plenty of challenge, with permadeath making careless moves result in a game over. If the game was really as easy as you say, there wouldn't be a casual or phoenix mode.

Any FE game played the "proper" way - no restarting or savestating - can still be pretty difficult, even if you're used to playing, since it's rather frustrating to be unable to fix your careless errors. Most newer FE players have a rough start if they try to play the older games, since the mechanics tend to be quite varied within the series. If you do anything enough, you'll get used to it. FE's difficulty comes from the amount of mechanics you have to get used to rather than how hard they are.

  8. That reminds me of that one time when I was trying to LTC FE6 with foot units only and I could have either gotten Roy and Lilina to B support or sent Lilina to kill things and get to B Anima while Roy seizes. The first time I played the chapter, I hadn't realized Lilina was so close to the weapon level. During the next chapter, she hit it while attacking the boss, so I went back to the previous chapter, got the weapon level, and played the second chapter again, this time without the support. It turned out that the evasion bonus (+2.5, IIRC?) from Roy's support was what kept her from getting killed.

  9. Probably, yes, but the other candidates are so awful that it's better to be optimistic about the few that don't completely suck. Paul is pretty moderate, though that means that most Republicans hate him, and Rubio's foreign policy is a lot more open to negotiation than Trump's or Cruz's.

  10. The voting base is split too heavily between Republicans who don't support Trump. If some of the candidates *coughFiorinaCarsonandChristiecough* dropped out, the scores would be that much more concise. Maybe someone would stand a chance against Trump and we wouldn't be so screwed.

  11. The entire debate right now is pretty much "Stop talking let me talk!" "But it's my turn!". Unfortunately, I'm fairly sure our only choices will end up being Trump or Clinton, in which case intervention in the Middle East is inevitable. Clinton is probably the lesser of two evils. I don't think Rubio awful for a Republican, his foreign policy is more liberal than that of most Republicans, if that's any consolation. Granted, I don't know if I'd vote him over Clinton, but I'd take him over Trump or Cruz any day. I'd honestly vote Paul if he wasn't so likely to drop out.

  12. Every Serra I've ever used ends up from average to phenomenal; I don't recall ever getting a bad Serra.

My very first Lilina was speed blessed, so I'm inclined to use her over the other mages, though she's been never quite been as good as that first one.

Azel always turns out better than the impression I get from him on these forums. He starts frail, sure, but FE4!Mage Knight.

Jamka is a pretty damn good combat unit considering that he's an archer, and he usually works pretty well for me.

Kent really likes getting speed screwed but strength blessed, it's like having a more defensive but slightly weaker Sain, which could both be good and bad.

Florina without LM is really difficult for me to use properly, I'd almost always take Fiora or Farina over her.

I don't think I've ever gotten a good Beowulf before, I've tried to use him repeatedly but he always sucks.

Franz has a tendency to get strength screwed, though he usually ends up around average, but that's still underwhelming for earlygame cav.

I'm only on C14 of FE9 but Soren started out weak as shit and never got better, he's didn't get any defense for 7 levels and HP maybe 3 times.

I forgot Shanna my Shannas never get defense or strength, it's so stressful

  13. That's pretty much what I thought; pretty useful, though it wouldn't trivialize a large map the way rescue-chaining would. Thanks!

Another thing: since I'll be playing mostly blind, are there important things that I really shouldn't miss? Like gaidens in FE6, for instance, or missable top-tier units? Most importantly, are there bow users who don't suck? Shinon left me to suffer.

  14. I finally got around to starting FE9, and I've been curious about Shove. I've heard it mentioned a few times on Serenes alongside Rescue, so I assumed it would be some kind of incredibly OP skill. It turned out to be the ability to shove a unit one space, which is kind of underwhelming. I can see how it would be situationally useful, but it mostly seems like a "if I had one more Warp range" or "if only that tree wasn't there" utility, maybe good for saving three or four turns total in the game. Three turns is pretty important in LTC or on drafts, but not so much elsewhere. Have I been mistakenly hyping it up or am I being some idiot who fails to grasp the true power of Shove?

Also, Canto is now my favorite mechanic ever. All hail Canto.
