  1. This is the first I've heard this brought up. That certainly changes things.

    That's because I just translated it. :x

I was certain it was him, but that evidence certainly helped. >.>

Also, there are several promoted units in that shot. It might be safe to say he is promoted already.

  2. That does not (necessarily) preclude being an Ogma.

"He (Ogma) also started an archetype, in which a mercenary or other sword wielding unit joins early to the middle of the game with good base stats in addition to having balanced stat growths, and can become some of the best units in the game."

    -souce

He wouldn't by definition be an Ogma archetype, but he could very well play like him. Although I would expect something closer to Boyd or Nolan.

  3. I've addressed that screenshot many times; there's no proof that the map sprite is Rivera's. Characters have been known to talk to others from halfway across the map or more. More importantly, there's no indication that if it is Rivera, he's in his base class. He may well start as a Monk and have the potential to promote to Bishop or Battle Monk, being shown as a Bishop in that screenshot and as a Battle Monk in the class roll (perhaps due to a lack of other Battle Monks).

It couldn't be anyone but Rivera. Here is the evidence:

    >The sprite's clothes resemble Rivera's

    >The hair is harder to see, but it is blonde on the sprite

    >He is right in from of Krom

    >He is saying "Add my power to yours, Lord Krom", so is he being recruited by Krom

    >During this recruiting conversation, the color of the HP bar on the sprite in front of Krom has a greenish tint, so he is possibly an ally unit.

To say it isn't Rivera is obsurd.

And if Rivera isn't in his base class, it doesn't matter. It proves battle monks can use axes and staves, based on his sprite holding a staff and the hypothesis that he is or could be a battle monk. If he is in his base class, odds are high he has potential to be one.

  4. lol

I prefer women in physical classes, usually, and myrms happen to be a pretty popular class for them.

I'm also interested in whoever that dragonknight is in the trailer. Shame we've got no name on him/her though. I do love dragonknights.

Some guy named Serge. His name is seen briefly after battle.

  5. Last I checked, the class I've always known as Fighter uses axes, not staffs. You must be playing one weird FE game.

wtf are you talking about? Where did fighters with staves come from? Battle monk would promote from a male cleric. Battle monk and sister are just the same class with the name changing depending on the characters gender. They aren't split into two classes. You're putting way to much thought into this.

  6. Hm. It's possible if Battle Monks use axes primarily and have staffs as a secondary equipment type, probably promoting from a physical fighter class, to explain why the class appears more physically oriented. but it seems so odd. Can you imagine Fighters having an option to gain staffs?

More likely, I'm guessing Battle Monks use axes/magic, as a promotion from a Monk class like the FE7/8 one. They'd probably have Bishop as a promotion, as well, so if Rivela starts as a Monk, he could become a Bishop and use staffs.

On that note, thinking about magic, it wouldn't be so bad setting it to one magic type if there was still class-specific stuff within that type. Such as adding a few spells like Aura that get bonus damage against monsters, but making those only accessible to Bishops, or perhaps other classes meant to use light magic. I wouldn't complain about one-type magic if there turn out to be enough of these.

I doubt that. It probably has the same function as battle cleric. And what do you mean "gain" staves? They started off with them. They would gain axes. The class probably looks physically oriented because the clothes make him look really bulky.

@Caladbolg: This is true. However, his map sprite it much more simple compared to Liz's. He might still be a bishop at that time.

  7. I actually think it'd be more interesting if Krom moves away from the kingdom instead. Ike is the only one to walk away from being a lord that I'm aware of (no knowledge of FE's 1-5), so it'd be intriguing if Krom did the same.

Well, unless it happens in FE2, Ike is the first, yes.

    @mai: I love you.

  8. The music, oh god the music. It's sad to see that Intelligent Systems has shifted to such mellow, hollow composers for the past, what, six games they've created? AT least FE9 had some nice melodies thrown into the wash of ambient whitenoise...

I miss FE4's music style. Especially Versus Alvis.

  9. The game looks amazing. Does anyone know the name of the red haired pegasus knight in the 6 min trailer? I love her sprite already. Hopefully, shes good. As for my complaint, ppl mistaking masked marth for a girl...

Tiamo. All the names (and their perceived translations) are found in the forest.

  10. so far the game is looking pretty awesome, but there are a few things that irk me. the main one is the goofy final fantasy hats they've put on all the mages. UGH! the second is the high probability that krom is going to replace ike in the next smash bros.. haha. am i alone? actually, i'm not big on the graphics in general, but i guess i can't complain too much since the rest of the game looks so great.

My only complaint is it not being released yet. And in English.

I may have at least one possible complaint if there is no light/dark/anima triangle (regardless of if it is one rank or not).

  11. I must ask again: What is the basis for assuming that the guy with the staff is indeed Rivera?

    rivera.png

In this part of the 6 minute trailer, Krom is having a conversation with Rivera. On the map, he is right next to a blonde person with a staff. It seems the most logical assumption is to say that Rivera must be this blonde guy with the staff.
