  1. If certain posters here have an issue with other posters criticizing If, then they could go post somewhere else (not really). Or just ignore those posts.

    Then again, we could accept nobody here is obligated to support anything If has so far. And actually discuss the game, since criticism is part of discussion no matter how offensive.

    I think I was less criticsising If than ranting about how people are randomly hating on eachother due to the content of If.

    But I agree with you.

  2. Let's get one thing straight - we are NOT GameFAQs. Some people have accounts on both sites, while others have an account on only one of the sites. It's usually a much better idea to address your target audience, instead of some tangent, BUT I can understand why you'd take said tangent. My advice: Find somewhere where YOU are comfortable, and stay there. You don't owe it to anyone to "show the truth", nor do you owe any forum on the Internet any loyalty (especially if you're not enjoying yourself there; life's too short for that).I'm not worried at all! I'm interested to see what direction FE goes, and if it goes too far in the wrong direction (in my opinion), I'll wish it well and move elsewhere. Change happens.I think it's a little silly to get worked up over the "wrong gender in the bath" trope NOW. It was in Awakening, and it was pretty poorly executed.Eh. I don't see what the huge deal about the hot springs are. Pretty sure the bits that matter will be covered, and not a la Tecmo!I have no idea why the face rubbing thing was included, IMO, nor do I care. If someone's going to play FE just for that (and on Normal Phoenix, no less), so be it - I hope they like the game.Thanks for the reminder that "pandering" is a worldwide issue!Remember that issue with Awakening and feet? Well, Nohr has that issue, too. . .but it's "everything below the waist". :P:---I think the issue is "change" - FE's trying a lot of new things (to be fair, when hasn't it?), and for those who expect X, Y, and Z, it can be intimidating. Change will happen, and it's up to each individual person to embrace it or to go elsewhere.

    Ah, well I did post this on gamefaqs too.

    I know this isn't gamefaqs, but topics like the ones on there do pop up sometimes.

    I was kind of annoyed that everyone was hating on whoever didn't like what they liked.

    Im pretty sure its happened on sf so I posted it here too.

  3. I'm writing this mainly cos of a fiasco on Gamefaqs.

    Let's start.

    Lots of Fire Emblem fans are scared. When they see all the face rubbing and S Supports, they are scared that Fire Emblem will becone a Waifu Sim.

    They feel that gameplay is ignored in favor of pandering and that kind of garbage.

    But that's not the case. IS know that this is a strategy sim, and that their 'pandering' is a fun lil add on.

    Want proof?

    Let's take a look at If.

    In favor of gameplay:

    1. New weapon triangle made just for the no durability system

    2. You can set the AI of your streetpass team.

    3. Pair Up has been neatened into Attack and Guard stance. Enemies can also use pair up too.

    4. Personal skills give you reasons to use one unit over another, promoting diversity in your team and strategy too.

    5. Reclassing mechanics have been changed, and so have crit mechanics.

    Pandering:

    1. FE Amie

    2. Hot Springs

    3. My Castle

    4. Maids/Butlers as a class

    If the lists are missing something, tell me and I'll add it.

    They have been pandering to gameplay and otakus equally.

    Each thing has been given thought and consideration and one side is NOT favored over the other.

    I guess since they have been showing the pandering more, people only see that and forget the work they have done on gameplay. They've worked on BOTH people!

    Thank you for reading; I sure hope you a) rest easy over the future of FE and b) have at least taken something from this...

    NOTE

    ITS OK IF YOU DONT LIKE PANDERING

    OR GAMEPLAY

    IM NOT TRYING TO FORCE YOU TO LIKE IT

  4. How's this?

    I probably won't change these, but I just want to see how good the kids'll be and stuff.

    ChromxOlivia = Lucina and Inigo

    Fe!MuxLibra = Morgan (M)

    or

    MUxTiki = Morgan (F)

    GaiusxPanne = Yarne

    MaribellexKellam = Brady

    HenryxSumia = Cynthia

    CordeliaxRicken = Severa

    VirionxNowi = Nah

    TharjaxStahl = Noire

    LissaxFrederick = Owain

    MirielxLon'qu = Laurent

    SullyxVaike = Kjelle

    CherchexGregor = Gerome

    alternatively

    VirionxCherche = Gerome

    GaiusxNowi = Nah

    PannexGregor = Yarne

    Please rate these! Thnx in advance!

  5. Yeah. Some of it really is cringey. But I liked pairing random characters together in awakening, for example VirionxNowi (which is practically my OTP by now) and LucinaxYarne (is that even possible? 0-0) and seeing their interactions. The way most characters could marry random, random people was really amusing. And it was nice when I discovered funny or amusing supports, but really horible when I found absolute pieces of crap. So the whole everyone can marry everyone was a kind of mixed blessing.

  6. Because his name is マークス, not マクス.

    Max would be transliterated as マックス.

    The Marcus that already exists in Fire Emblem was マーカス.

    You're right that the transliteration of Marx as it applies to Karl Marx is not exactly the same as the name of the Nohrian guy, but マークス doesn't seem to exactly correspond to any known names in real life, and out of the possibilities Marx is just the most likely (considering how Japanese transliterating conventions usually work)

    I'd also be okay with Jack or Ace as a localized name for Joker, but only if the initial intent behind his name was literally just "let's just give him a random name that has to do with playing cards lulz". For all we know there might be some other reasoning behind the name that wouldn't be well conveyed by the other two. I agree that it's probably likely to be changed though.

    Why would Felicia or Elise need to be changed? They're perfectly fine and don't necessarily sound too "boring" (like Brad and Kevin supposedly did in Tellius) for Western audiences.

    Also Ares was already used as the localized name for a character in FE4.

    Well, the localisations sometimes just randomly change stuff, right? I agree that 'Felicia' is not a boring name, but I think Elise just doesn't suit... Elise. It seems too... 'adulty' I guess? In fact if I was picking the names, I'd have given her something like 'Minnie' or 'Suzie.'

    Since I haven't played FE4, I didn't know Ares was already used as a name. OOps.

    Also, the whole playing cards thing with Joker, maids/butlers tend to have an affinity with them, since aristocrats often play cards with their maid/butler if they have nothing to do. Also, you see maids and butlers in casinos walking around and serving wine or whatever and being the clerk for games of poker. There's lots of reasons Joker could be named after playing cards.

    Btw... I'd like Joker to be localised as 'Jack', since I think it suits his antisocialness more.

  7. Name: Medea

    Occupation: Tiki's Helper

    Class: Manakete

    Comes in: Tiki's Chapter (Mila Tree?)

    Story: She used to be a slave to someone in Valm, until she eventually couldn't handle the abuse and rekt the place. In the process she murders her friends, which she is rather sorry for. Eventually after running away for a long time, she collapses somewhere and Virion and Cherche rescue her. She stays with them (and ends up developing a crush on Virion) until Virion runs away from... (whatsitcalled) Rosanne. She decides to go to Tiki's and stays there until Chrom winds up at the Mila Tree, where she joins Chrom's army along with Tiki.

    Personality: Like Nowi, but with a small cruel streak (ie she doesn't mind a little bit of suffering)

    Quotes:"Lemme send you to oblivion! XD"

    Supports: Virion, Cherche, Nowi, Henry, Avatar M/F, Libra, Tharja, Stahl (up to A), Tiki, Nah, Gaius.

  8. I wonder if they'll release it in EU/US/AU? I had a look at the cards and they look great. I really want it to be localised so that I can beat my friends at it with my pretty cards!

  9. I think the whole of FE7 is overrated. It's such a bland, boring game.

    ... *is shot*

    But I think that trainees (Donnel, Amelia, Ewan) are just annoying. They're weak, flimsy and don't turn out that great. Apart from Ross, who does.

    Also, Tharja's "hotness". She doesn't look all that pretty to me, but she is REALLY, really, REEEEEAAAAAALLLY powerful.

  10. Hoshido: Once you get there, people don't trust you, and think you're suspicious and talk behind your back. The choices you make will determine whether or not a unit could stay in your army (ie you do 'something suspicious', Kazahana says 'it's fishy', if you repeatedly do 'suspicious things' Kazahana leaves.) You have to deal with your rather grudgy army as an impending threat from Nohr looms... The ending will depend on how you've treated your army, and if you've maltreated and abused them, your ending will not be pretty.

    Nohr: People love you, and are happy you've stayed on their side, but you notice little things starting to go wrong in the country. As you dig deeper, you dig more worms. And beetles. And bugs and cockroaches. Until you find that the root of these worms/beetles/bugs/cockroaches is Garon. Will you kill your father and make everyone loathe you but cure the problem, or will you peacefully sort the problem slowly but surely and have your work go unnoticed?

    Third path: They unite to kill an evil threat. Once that's done they go straight back to killing eachother. Its your job to make the two countries at least tolerate eachother. Depending on the choices you make, you'll leave the countries in a state of unrest and peace teetering on war, or in a state of peaceful love. Metaphorically, of course. But you can ship Garon x HoshidoQueen if you want.

  11. I think Ares would be a good name for Marx! As in Ares, greek god of war?

    It suits Marx according to me. And it sounds more like a name than Mars.

    I've also been thinking they'd probably change Joker to Jack or Ace (maybe Knave) or something, since those names actually do keep in with the 'playing cards' theme.

    Felicia -> Felicity?

    and maybe

    Elise -> Elizabeth

  12. Personally, I really like Tsubaki (bishie! Yay, I like bishies! And his personality seems nice too!), Orochi (nice sleek and simple design) , Linca (awsome axe weilding cute looking lady), and Hinoka (pretty, tsundere pegasus knight0.

    I didn't really like Marx when I first saw him, but now I'm warming up to him slightly.

    Camilla's top half is fine, but the panty window.... No.

    Elise is OK. Perhaps a little overboard with Imouto-chan-ness, but fine.

    Leon is probably my favorite Nohr character.

    Ryouma is OK..... He will always be Lobster Lord.

    Sakura is really cute, her design shows her role well.

    Takumi, I'm mixed on. I kind of like him but kind of don't...

    Hinoka, I really like. She's just right - not too much fanservice but not too plain either.

    Felicia is awsome. From her description on SF's character page, she seems a bit like me!

    Joker looks nice too, I really like his hair.and cravat....he has one right?

    Gunter... meh. Don't care.

    I think the designs are done a little better than Awakening's. But I liked Awakening's designs in general, even Nowi (duh) and Tharja (looks wise, at least)

  13. To answer topic question, I understand the relese gap but don't like it.

    I live in the uk btw.

    I get that they have to translate it to British English, German, French French (as in not Canadian french), Spanish, and everything else, but it still annoys me that eu gets it released after everyone else...

  14. Ok, so this hack is basically about Myrrh and Saleh + Ewan, and what they do from Chapter 5 onwards.

    I mean, there's a HUGE gap concerning them in the game, considering Saleh shows up in Ch5 and then finally reappears in Ch12 ish. I had a cool idea about what happenned between ch5 and ch12.

    So at the start, Myrrh leaves the village after leaving a note to Saleh explaining her absence. Saleh and Ewan pursue her, hoping to catch up with her. Meanwhile Myrrh reaches another small village in Jehanna, where a few bandits attack her. But then a Peg Knight swoops in and saves her. The peg knight lives in the village Myrrh is going to, and takes her there, where Myrrh meets the peg knight Linde's sisters - an archer, Kaina, and a healer, Immy. The sisters learn of Myrrh's situation, and agree to hekp her.

    The game switches between Saleh and Myrrh's POV. The two views/parts/whatever merge at the end.

    How does it sound?

  15. Avril Lavigne: Macs can load emulators, I think they just took forever to get it converted to Mac's format. I'm pretty sure there is VBA for Mac now. But I have an emulator on my phone, some I can just download my hacks to that and play them there.

    CT075: Ok, thank you. I'll keep that in mind.
