  1. That's not how you play DF, it's not hard at all to make an impenetrable, self sufficient fortress, but is it fun? no.

Your missing out on a lot if your fort doesn't have pointless constructions and unlabeled levers everywhere

No, my fortresses have such things.

    ....But they DON'T DIE.

    I don't understand.

    (also, I've beaten hfs)

  2. If you want me to play, I will, but you might be disappointed. I'm very good at DF and it'd probably end up making it harder to lose, rather than following the tradition and making things worse.

Edit: AND WHY DON'T YOU TELL US WHO POSTED IT ORIGINALLY, HM?

  3. 6'3". Apparently at least two people in this thread are taller than me. I don't see that very often.

And 6'8" is nothing to brag about in my opinion. I'd rather be 6'. I have enough trouble at 6'3" with having to bend down while walking near trees or into basements or whatever. And hitting hands on low ceilings while removing shirts. If I was 6'8" I'd get so annoyed all the time.

Even 6'6" sucks. This is a world made for people who are 5'8".

  4. Yeah when you say a temperature near -40, it doesn't much matter which of those two you are talking about since -40 F = -40 C.

And either way, it's a level of cold that transcends standard human experience. In a way, it is a whole new level of cold.

  5. I'll trade you, Haru. I had major snow in '08, and that's pretty much it. It's 40. It's too warm here. :( I've been depraved of snow my whole life.

... How cold does it feel at -36?

At -36, it takes five minutes to get frostbite. It is a level of cold that is too deep to understand without experience. It breeds inactivity. You can be wearing three layers of thick clothes and you will still be reduced to a ball of inert flesh unwilling to move. It also makes you hypersensitive, e.g. you can feel your bones grinding around in the sockets when you move. If there is wind, and it is snowing, it feels like daggers being rapidly thrust into your flesh. It is merciless beyond standard human experience.
