That is a good point, but I don't think Jehanna was really meant to be the Middle East. Remember, even in that game, Joshua's default weapon is a Killer Sword, while Marisa of all people has a Shamshir. Even the Sacred Twin Audhulma, while it sounds Middle Eastern to many of us Americans, is actually a corrupted romanization of the Norse AuĂ°umbla, a cow of ice.

Do you 'support' LGBT supports in "Fire Emblem: if"?

Since the "Companion" thing was brought up, maybe we can have same sex relationships be listed as companions as well? I imagine that that would save face on a lot of things.- 554 replies

I know the chances of this happening is nonexistent but...

Please. I want to play against my friends chess-style. IS, I'd love you forever. -
His bowstring is indeed blue.

That is true. Socially, there were issues, but there are in any society, especially of that time. There weren't a lot of societies that had equality for women, specifically. I suppose it's subjective. Speaking of women and some classes they could hold: Dancers are an obvious choice, of course. But, if this were real, would you rather have the dancers act as traditional dancers or as magicians?

Also, can't the LGBT players make the same argument about not being able to romance any of the same-sex characters in the game?- 554 replies

I'd argue about the brightest past there is. Yes, there was an era of prosperity, but the Middle East has been at war more than it has been at peace. And women have only gotten equal rights in some areas in recent times. Of course, generalizations, so I know that it depends on the area. Scratch that. I misread the source I found.

I'd doubt an entirely new weapon just because of how prevalent the weapons have been in the artwork this time. An upgraded one makes more sense to me.

I definitely disapprove of the "Muslim" nation concept here. "Middle Eastern" is a better concept, in my opinion. I'd actually love it if the thread owner would change the title of the thread. I'm surprised how few people knew that about horses. Camels are not fighting creatures; they are hauling ones. And I quite like the idea of the Ghazi. I couldn't really find anything in my research, but are there throwing knives or other such long-ranged hidden weapons that could be used for a Middle Eastern theme? China started it, but it was indeed in Japan as well. Thank you for questioning that, though. I used Japan as an example because of Hoshido.

... [spoiler=Derailing?]The first thing that you need to acknowledge is that Fire Emblem is based in a romanticized fantasy environment. Yes, many women are currently oppressed in some Middle Eastern countries. Yes, the Middle Eastern world had a bad past. But Medieval Europe was just as bad. In many ways, feudal Japan was also just as bad. In Europe, if a woman studied any sort of sciences, they would be burned for witchcraft. In Japan, they broke their girl's feet when they were young for the sake of beauty. The reason we're okay with those past events for Europe and Japan, but not for the Middle East, is because many people in the United States have waged a personal war against the entire area, whether or not the people there are our enemies or not. This includes teachers. The exact same thing has happened in WWII with the Japanese, and in WWI with Germans, and with Vietnamese in the Vietnam War. I don't think anyone here was suggesting that they leave out female characters, and that's one of the most ignorant things I've heard on these forums. You took our interest in the culture of the Middle East and twisted it into something vile.

I think that the quote about "strong but delicate" in regards to Aqua's singing voice is going to apply to her personality as well. Aqua looks delicate, and I have a feeling that her ultimate goal is to create peace for both kingdoms, and that she's willing to go through a lot of personal struggle to achieve that.

I'd be all for them being available from the start, but having limited power until a certain point in the story. It worked for Chrom's Falchion, so I don't see why it wouldn't work here.

For Intelligent Systems, this is complicated. Because, while most of us here wouldn't mind it, there is a silent majority that would probably be very upset with LGBTQ characters being included. Personally, please. But I would understand why IS wouldn't do it just on the grounds of "better safe than sorry," because that's the kind of world we live in.- 554 replies

I personally like her. She has a beautiful design, she's a lance-wielder, she has the singer mechanic and is in a main role (which is interesting from a strategic point of view), and she might be a dragon. What's not to like?
