  1. I don't think the story is as bad as people are making it out to be, it's definitly a step up compared to Awakening's and no where near the levels of clusterf%ck that was Radiant Dawn's story.

Funny, I just got a used copy of Radiant Dawn from Gamestop in the mail on Saturday. Was kind of looking forward to playing it. Also got Shadow Dragon as well, but not feeling it right now.

  2. Played up to chapter 8 for Conquest and up to about chapter 11 for Birthright and I'm loving the Gameplay. Waiting for the XP and Gold DLC to come out so that I can better steel myself for Conquest Chapter 10... because I'm a scrub like that. As for the story, kind of finding it to be ho-hum and a bit cliched. Kind of like a summer blockbuster. Also, never really got the Awakening hate, as it was in my opinion a good game with a whelming story. Not underwhelming, not overwhelming, just whelming.

  3. I REALLY hope this isn't just another glitch in the system.

But some of the people on my stock tracker were talking about how they were in contact with Best Buy during it and received confirmation that yes, it is indeed legit stock.

Edit: Some people are saying their orders are getting cancelled.

I hope mine is secure. I got in fairly early... I haven't gotten any e-mail saying it's cancelled, though, and those are automated.

*crosses fingers* Please don't screw up, please don't screw up.

  4. Back in June, my hype was at maximum, then it just crashed after the Japanese release. For months, I didn't care, but in the last week, my hype has skyrocketed higher than ever.

Replaying awakening is just adding to the hype. I wish they'd done a demo to play obsessively while I wait.

I'm most excited for gameplay and characters. I'm gonna do nohr Classic first, then hoshido casual.

I feel exactly the same way. The most I care about right now is if I have fun with the game.

  5. Lmao I'm paranoid of actually missing the opportunity to get my hands on one.

I've already missed over 3 opportunities because of my god awful timing.

I'm clearly not fated for the SE.

    IF only.

    I'm not paranoid at all about them messing up my pre-order.Because I don't have one. ;_;

I'm in the same boat as you guys. There was a chance to for me to pre-order the special edition during the weekend it was announced at my local Gamestop, but I actually refused to preorder it when the cashier asked if I wanted to as I was no longer excited for the game at that time after reading everyone's impressions of its story since June 2015. It only took reading the localizations presented so far tha my excitement was ignited again, and I've been kicking myself for not pre-ordering ever since.

Maybe I'll get lucky and find the special edition in stock or someone cancelled their pre-order in my town. One of my Wal-Marts did have the Reaper of Soul's collector's edition for over a year when it came out. Well, fingers crossed.

  6. Corrin's reaction kind of reminds me of how protective Nier is to his daughter Yonah.

    How protective?

This is what he does at the beginning of the game https://youtu.be/kOEYipjkGsE?t=315

As for the actual implementation of the children themselves... couldn't they have done something similar to pawns from Dragon's Dogma? Or have each of the be from a different version of the games' world since Outrealms have been established as a thing and have a part of their character arcs getting used to how different both the world and this world's version of their parents compared to what they remember? Kind of throwing ideas out here.

  7. Name: Corum, just like Moorcock's Prince in the Scarlet Robe

Appearance: As close as I can get to emulating Corum as there are only a couple of facial features with a missing eye.

Route: All, starting with Conquest first and getting that clusterf*** story out of the way first

Class: Dark Blood (Arioch! Arioch! Blood and Souls for my Lord Arioch! Wait, wrong Eternal Champion)

Secondary Class: Either Cavalier or Mercenary

Marriage: Camilla for Nohr, either Reina, Rinkah or Hana for Hoshido, Camilla or Reina in Revelations

  8. Well, here's one way that I came up with to make it a bit better.

In the chapter after making your choice, Corrin comes back to Nohr and Garon orders them on that suicide mission. Corrin, after being a unknowing part to kill Mikoto and surviving that explosion combined with how they have been treated by Garon throughout their lives, has had enough of his shit, draws out Yato, and challenges Garon to try and kill them now rather than having someone else do it.

The Nohr siblings would be shocked at this blatant rebellion and Garon pissed at this display. Corrin explains why they are doing this: That they did not appreciate being made a weapon to kill their mother, that though they love the Nohr siblings and did return to Nohr out of love for them, they want revenge for how Garon has treated them and their mother's death. They also state that unlike Xander, they do not hold out hope that Garon would return to normal when Hoshido is conquered, and if that were the case Garon must still answer for his crimes. Corrin then says that they know what they are doing is suicidal, but if this shall be the end for them, then they are taking Garon with them.

It would then lead to a duel between Corrin and Garon, with the Nohr siblings imploring them to stop, Garon threatening them to stay out of the duel or they will die, and Corrin bringing up all of the happy times they've had with the Nohr siblings while also appealing to their hearts and minds about the just cause of this little rebellion.

The duel lasts until Corrin can no longer fight, and before Garon strikes the final blow, Camilla stands between them and blocks the blow while Elise heals Corrin. Xander and Leo are now at a loss for words as the sisters take Corrin out of the palace with their retainers helping them as well. Garon denounces them as traitors, calls for his guards to kill them only for them to be killed by Kaze who had just arrived to help Corrin. The chapter would then end with Corrin, the sisters and their retainers, and Kaze out of the palace and in the wilderness. After getting over the shock of what happened, Corrin the tells them that there is no turning back now; now is the time to gather allies and power and overthrow Garon before his invasion of Hoshido can begin in earnest.

The rest of the game would deal with Corrin and company launching a guerilla rebellion against Nohr, gathering allies, and trying to convince the brothers to join them.

Not yet sure on how to work Hoshido into that scenario.

  9. Some of the changes I've seen for the localization have actually made me tentatively excited for this game. I was very disappointed in the game after reading how it handled it's story to where I went from hype to swearing off the game. Now, I'm a bit hopeful that the localization will change or at least tone down some of the gripes I had with the story. I'm actually kicking myself in the pants for not pre-ordering the special edition when i was able to. Still, If by some miracle I find it at a store, I will buy it. If not, I may pick up Conquest first even though a lot of people had problem's with its story. At least it and XCOM 2 will satisfy my strategy itch.

  10. If I may be perfectly honest, I thought that this game was going to do well in Japan despite that it wasn't what fans were expecting. Wasn't planning on buying it because it wasn't what I expected or was hoping for (something more akin to Warhammer with SMT and FE characters). I believe another reason why it's not selling well is because SMT, or rather the Persona sub-series, already got an Idol-esque game this year: Persona 4: Dancing All Night. Which sounds better, having characters you know and love dance to remixes of some of your favorite Persona songs, or try to get invested in new characters and hope that the game's songs click with you? I know my choice.

  11. What I regret the most is having high expectations for this game. After reading spoilers and everyone's reactions to it and the numerous plot summaries made me disappointed in Fates and killed my interest in the game to the point where if I somehow see the special edition in stores, I may pick it up but only after flipping a coin first. My enthusiasm for Fire Emblem was also greatly diminished because of that disappointment to the point where I am worried for the franchise's future.
