Not exactly a question but I think I've run into a weird bug? In the music log I've unlocked the Tear Streaked (Ice) song but not the calm version. I'm at chapter 19. Did this happen to anyone else?

Sorry to bring this up again, I know it's very trivial stuff but it's bothering me to no end lol

Can someone check if they have this particular soundtrack unlocked? Thanks!

  2. I'm in my Verdant Wind playthrough, and yes, I also wish they'd give Claude more character. I love him to death nonetheless.

I still have to play Silver Snow.

Crimson Flower and Azure Moon both satisfied me (even though Crimson Flower really needed more of it).

But I can say that overall I love the worldbuilding TH has, opposed to the letdown that Fates was.

EDIT: Speaking of worldbuilding, if we ever get a sequel of sorts, I'd like it to take place out of Fódlan, like in Dagda or maybe even Almyra. There's so much potential in there.

  3. I can only agree with Conquest gameplay and maybe prettier graphics, because 3H is kinda shallow in that department.

Other than that, I find 3H superior in every way for reasons other people already explained better than I could.

I'm noticing we're entering a phase in which it's cool to criticize 3H, and that's okay if you didn't like it, but baity titles like this... I don't know. Fates was criticized by everyone as soon as launch because its flaws were evident, this didn't happen with 3H because while it has its flaws too they're not as messy as Fates's. To suddenly say "Fates was actually good" after years of criticism looks like a mixture of based nostalgia for the 3DS era and claiming something controversial just for the sake of it.

    Just my opinion, of course.

This wouldn't be the first time this has happened.  IMO if you want to pre-order from Gamestop, go into the store and do it.

Even in that case you're not safe. Back then, I pre-ordered Fates Limited Edition at the store. They only got 1 copy in day 1 and I was lucky because I was the very first to pre-order. Everyone else was screwed.

So yeah, I wouldn't trust Gamestop at all in general. Never got a single game from them ever again.

Interesting. Fodlan, to put it bluntly, is a mess. There are at least three major threats, and depending on the route you're on, those threats might actually be your ally. Or you might even join up. It's very different from prior FE's.

The story is really strong, lots of dark turns no punches pulled and epic! for all four routes. One of the best FE stories to date!!!

Thank you, guys. It does seem really promising so far, my hype just went way up. I also like the fact that

    Spoiler

From what I've got, all characters are morally grey and there's no "happily ever after" ending Revelation style. Maybe a 5th route with April DLC? We'll see.

I will look at the post time skip designs of the rest of the students, growth rates and requirements that are needed to recruit students from another house.

That said, the game hasn’t been leaked yet, right? When the time comes I will take a look at the things I mentioned before and then leave the internet. I absolutely don’t want to see story spoilers.

I think we'll know when it leaks.

It's plausible though, Echoes leaked 4-3 weeks earlier than release date.

I mean has that ever happened in Fire Emblem? Characters noticing deaths that aren't story related?

I get that in Fates they didn't even acknowledge those, so the worry makes sense, but hoping that the game adjusts based on gameplay permadeath might be a bit much to ask.

Not to a big extent, sure, but I recall Path of Radiance did something. I'm not asking for something extreme, just some little quotes would be fine.

    And My Castle was better?

I can see how the monastery would work as a base of operations.  The building itself is just that - it's what happens within that makes or breaks the story.  Location-wise, it makes perfect sense for it to be a home base.

Now if you're worried about tea time and all that in the middle of the war. . .we'll just have to wait and see.

    Exactly this.

It's not the monastery per se, my fear is the general tone. Suppose a character died in the last battle, be it for plot or my negligence, I'd like the other characters to at least acknowledge that death to some extent. Unlike Fates in which you went back to My Castle and it was like nothing ever happened.

This is speculation on the politics of the three Fodlan nations, but it's based on some of what Thani leaked, so I'm going to post it here:

    • I don't think it's been confirmed, but I take it that the entirety of Fodlan was once united as one nation (The Adrestrian Empire).
    • The Holy Kingdom of Faerghus may have been the first to split. As we know, the area prides itself on its knights. I'd speculate that the north-west is historically a victim of raids from Sreng and so had a history of building tall castles and maintaining more of a war footing than the rest of the Empire. It may have also been the power centre for Nemesis' faction, pre-unification. Either way, the Imperial family would require a strong, trusted hand to lead it, and so a family member would have been given regional control. Over generations their power solidified and the area's military might allowed them to shift into being semi-autonomous, before officially breaking away. They name themselves a Holy Kingdom to add legitimacy, as their royal family is, just like the Adrestrians, descended from Seiros.
    • The Leicester Alliance is based in the area that was formally an economic hub, where traders from overland to the east would come to buy and sell. From here, goods would flow into and out from the rest of the Empire and the Holy Kingdom. As such, the area became disproportionately wealthy to the rest of the continent, and ties with the eastern neighbour of Almyra grew. I'd also venture that Aegir, to the south, is also a reasonably prominent trading town. Much like the real world, where the wealthy Catalonia region is trying to secede from Spain, the eastern lords likely felt that their taxes going to the rest of the country was an unwarranted drain on them. This eventually led to the prominent personages deciding that the Empire had grown weak, and that a split might be possible. To tip the scales, the von Riegans then sealed a deal with Almyra for military support via marriage, and that support led to them being voted the head of the Leicester Alliance. This would have happened only a generation ago, and while it is nominally a more democratic nation they have yet to actually have a change of power from the von Riegans. Many see Claude as a natural successor, but their is a lot of tension as many others expect a new vote.
    • The von Aegir's may have had a chance to break away as part of the fledgling Leicester Alliance, but instead used that fact as leverage to force the Emperor to give them, or create the position of, Prime Minister. As we know that Brigid pays homage to Adrestria (rather than having been absorbed) and that Petra is attending the Officer's Academy as a show of fealty and to engender positive relations, I think this arrangement might be recent. As such, I speculate that after the Church of Seiros organised a peace with Leicester, Ferdinand's father organised a show of the Empire's strength, and attacked Brigid. The victory would have brought him much renown, and internally he would have a huge power block over the Emperor (who lost the Leicester region, and is seen as weak).
    • After the success of the Leicester Alliance's breakaway, most Almyrans would have gone home, but many would have stayed. They likely faced racism and xenophobia in most of Fodlan, and a large number spread throughout the continent similar to the Romani people in Europe. While some no-doubt turned to banditry, many are likely just trying to live. We know that Dimitri "has a great shadow" and that Dedue "owes Dimitri a great debt". Thani said that Dedue's people were bandits that killed the royal family, with Dimitri the only survivor, and that Dedue's people were killed in response. Only Dedue was spared, at the wishes of the young Dimitri. So I'd say Dedue is one of the Almyran diaspora, and also that while Prince Dimitri is the rightful ruler of Faerghus he has a regent or council of regents actually ruling until such time as he reaches his majority. My main speculation here is that Dedue's family did not murder Dimitri's, but were framed in order for the regents to take over. I'd also suggest that some of the villainous members of the Church of Seiros are the ones acting as regent, and the ones who acted out the murders.

Once again, that's just speculation. But I was thinking about it over the last few days, and thought I'd jot it down.

Seriously, IS should hire you. I can't contain the hype, even if it's just speculation.

After the Grinch leak fiasco that I honestly got really deep with, I no longer believe any leak at face value.

The main difference with the Castlevania Emblem leaks is that those where from a literally who, while Thani is an active user on reddit since 2017. I'm not saying this confirms the leaks are true, but I think Thani is slightly more credible.

  11. I'm being cautiously optimistic. From what I can see from Heroes, IS actually pays attention to feedbacks and I'm sure they know what they did wrong with previous entries.

I'd say major excitement. Fates is definitely old now and Echoes was a remake (that I absolutely loved, but still). I'm looking forward to something new. Also FE on my Switch.
