Church route was by far the worst route, echoing a previous comment, the best parts of the route were Seteth's and Flayn's screen time and the final map theme.
The truth of Byleth's past while cool to finally figure out could've easily been mentioned in the GD path. While the path can only be chosen by picking the Black Eagles, the characters that stick with you lack presence in comparison to the other routes.

Claude: Strategy in motion, Hold a grudge if you must
Hubert: *maniacal laugh*
Lindhart: I might as well win
Marianne: My blood compels me
Seteth: You will not survive, Judgement has passed
Petra: To survive I will win
Bernadetta: Okay, I'm gonna do it

Byleth does not have a strength in bows. Not sure I trust that wiki much considering Lorenz also doesn't have a strength in bows

I'm considering Manuela and Leonie. Manuela is my first choice but I'm interested in learning Leonie's character
-
Something about Lorenz being good with bows, taken from the wiki, seems off to me. If it was a strength of his then why would it not show up in the game as one during Claude's introduction of the golden deer students?

Do we know what the finger pointing up next to the skill level is supposed to mean? It appears when you are instructing the students

Faith seems to have a number of offensive spells though, so it's probably better. Healing, utility and offense all in one.
I'll guess we'll see what spells he can learn, faith might not be too bad if that's the case

Nope, and it's confirmed that we can't customize him/her.

No weaknesses, strong in Sword, Lance (yup), Bow, Brawling and Authority, hidden talent in Faith. Starts with D+ Sword, D Authority and E+ Brawling.
So he's basically OP lol, also RIP axe Byleth.
F*ck sake. Would it really have been too much to give him a strength in reason? I'll take the bow strength though and just try to raise reason as much as possible.

The title says it all really. Most pre-release material shoe Byleth having strengths in swords, brawling and authority while having a hidden talent in faith. I'm curious as to wether we can change those.

Bernadetta has a hidden talent in riding.

This video goes through the preview for all the Golden Deer. Most notably, Lysithea is bad with sword, lances, and axes (and armor), and Leonie has no weaknesses.
This video is super helpful for anyone picking Golden Deer, thanks for bringing this up.

Marianne has strengths in flying, riding and faith, while weaknesses in armour and brawling. From the ign video

I'm more curious about the amount of customization we get on that aspect, seems that sword strength is a given, but what else can we do? Can we choose which stats are going to be good? Can we choose some weapons he/she's good in and some that he's bad with? I really want to make my Byleth a dedicated lance user, I hope it's possible.
I share this worry as well since we've constantly seen Byleth have the same strengths and hidden talent (Faith)
-
Pretty sure Hilda had a hidden talent in Armour, this is also from the kotaku monastery video
-
For me it's the customisation, growing the students (and potentially Byleth) in the way I want and I'm excited to learn of everyone's strengths, weaknesses and what that means for the character.
The story is very intriguing and seeing how it's presented. I liked the cutscenes in warriors so I'm expecting something similar or better here.

That's amazing news, the replay ability of this game seems to be off the charts.
One thing I picked up from the Google translation was that weapon triangle is still here. Can anyone confirm this?
-
Yeah the plate is a must have. I run atk/Res bond,qr3,Def ploy and dd3 on my Felicia. I think I agree with @Fei Mao that Felicia probably doesn't need Def ploy anymore, it's still a great option but now you could probably put a different support skill on her.

"Oh, no Awakening/Fates characters one, this proves the older games are better!"
Anyone who uses this argument isn't worth listening to. People can have their opinions on what they like but stating it as a fact is foolish.
You can always point out that 17/40 for the top 20s were 3ds characters.

Kinda sad that Chrom dropped as far as he did, oh well. Time to rally behind Camilla. I personally think Marth has got second in the bag once ppl start voting for the sd version
-
Gave a vote to Felicia now I'm going all in for Chrom

I would like to see kitty paddle+ ignore buffs on mages.

Replayability ,for me, depends on how fun the game is. Conquest and awakening have taken up many hours of my time, while echoes was only worth 2 playthroughs for me.
I agree with the OP that class switching and avatars add a lot of replayability but that means nothing if the gameplay is horrible. The best example of this is revelations which has a huge cast and class switching potential but I never want to play it again.
Not too sure on the whole double avatar idea. Split armies are cool though.

I can probably help you... kinda. Perhaps anything that you're in need right now? like story? certain history maps?
Just the story ones atm. I'm missing 6,7,9,10,13,15,19,20, endgame
VW as dlc would've make 3H better

I definitely prefer VW to SS. Claude makes the story more interesting than a route where Byleth is on his own, even though I like Flayn and Seteth they can't carry like Claude does.
In addition, having the Golden Deer, a group of misfits with no real history with each other, apart from Ignatz and Raphael, slowly turn into this cohesive group of friends was heartwarming. I think the BE having two routes actually hurts them since it shows the only motivation they have for picking a side is because of Byleth.
The lore 'dump' makes sense since Claude is the only person actively seeking out the truth amongst the whole cast. The truth about Byleth in SS very easily could have said in VW.
