Wow. If that's the case with every store, damn that's gonna suck even if people like me preordered the day of or the day after orders first went live. As depending on how many people ordered the SE in your area, there's a good chance only two of possibly 50 or more people will get it. Ouch. Once more, way to go on stocking things Nintendo :/
But those 50 people (if your area even had that many preorders) wouldn't be all at one location most likely. In my area alone, I can think of at least 3 Gamestops but there's probably even more. But it still sucks cause 6-10 copies per area still might not be enough.

I was at the mall so I asked with a friend who also preordered the special edition at Gamestop about the issue since we were there anyway (this was not the location where either of us preordered).
Two of the workers didn't even know about this problem, but one did know right away. He also said that preorders opened again when they weren't supposed to and those are the ones that will be cancelled. If you ordered in the first wave you should be safe. Also, the guy looked up my preorder by my phone number and said it looked fine and still have a copy (which is weird cause the actual location I ordered from when I called looked up my order and said it was cancelled).
All the information is mixed, so really we won't know until there is a statement or until the day of.
My recommendation to everyone, however, is to be the first person at your location on 2/19 if you can. The guy told me that this location I went to (and so probably every other one as well) only is allotted 2 copies of the SE. So, even if the preorders are fine, they could easily have let too many preorders go through. At that point it's first come first served, so make sure to be there as soon as humanly possible for your schedule (when it opens is best).

We apologize however the Fire Emblem Fates Special Edition is no longer available for pre orders.
The title of the game has been changed to say DO NOT RESERVE and stores need to follow that direction. This game was cut-off for reserves on 11/18, and anything taken after that date may not be honored.
Keep in mind release dates are set by the manufacturer and are subject to change or cancellation at anytime without notification. We recommend keeping a watch out on our website for any updates to the product.
If you would like to get a refund, simply visit one of our stores and they will further assist you.

So, I sent an email to Gamestop about this issue. I got a response (that took longer than they said it would but whatever they're busy this time of year).
This was the response I got:
"Thank you for contacting GameStop. I would love to assist you with your inquiry today. I'm here to help.
The current release date for Fire Emblem Fates: Revelation is 12/31/2016. Keep in mind release dates are set by the manufacturer and are subject to change at anytime without notification. We recommend keeping a watch out on our website for any updates to the product.

How does that have ANYTHING to do with the Special Edition? I didn't even mention Revelation in my message to them! I just asked if the in-store preorders for the Special Edition are being cancelled!
So frustrated -_-. I sent back a response asking again but who knows if it'll be better.

Mine is absolutely fine. Doubly confirmed by manager. I was right that our store's preorders for it were in the lower single digits. (3) Manager said that the people who tried to preorder during the glitch are the ones getting cancelled. Its a shame if people who preordered before the glitch happened still got cancelled. :(
Oh and mine is paid off.
Did you confirm by walking in or calling or both? I haven't been able to walk in yet because its near my college campus and I'm home for break, but I called a few days ago and the employee looked up mine and said it was cancelled (while also saying it was not to reserve more which is why I think he may have just confused that with being cancelled). At least that's what I'm praying for.

My birthday (June 22) is sandwiched between Orochi and Mitama. Back in Awakening it was between Stahl and Kellam. I dunno what to think -_-

Whew, just checked my Game Library; my preorder's safe.
Mine seems to be safe to under "my preorders" as are a lot of other people's. What we're worried for is that that is inaccurate as me and many others were told it's still cancelled when calling the store or walking in.

A bit unrelated, but do you think that pre-orders from Best Buy are safe? It still says that my order is "Processing" and that the expected release date is still 12/31/16. =/
I haven't heard anything about Best Buy. It seems that this is a problem solely with Game Stop and only in-store, not online.

yeah its really annoying but im gonna go there physically either today or tomorrow to confirm again and the reason its not available or non reservable could be because off the problems gamestop is having online on their site
I checked online just now and my power up rewards section seems to be working. Maybe the website is functioning properly again?

if I had to guess, I'd say anywhere from 20-22. Although 17 could be the case since this is Japan.
When it comes out in the US, she will definitely be 18 or over if they even mention her name at all, however.

It's pretty much ordered still but they need to get in stock. Nintendo or whoever distributes the SE needs to put in stock for the orders. You have you're money safe but time will need to pass for something to happen. That's what they told me. Keep in mind I ordered way early so I should have one but I don't have one until they stock it but once they get some I'm guranteed to get it
I hope this is the case because I preordered on 11/13 which I believe is the first day they took in-store preorders (the day after the direct).
I'm kind of nervous though, so even if they (hopefully) eventually confirm that preorders will be honored, I will be going in as soon as they open on 2/19 (if possible). This is because I saw an alarming tweet that said someone's gamestop was only getting 1 special edition...1.

Hey guys, so idk if this means anything but under Gamestop's "Coming Soon" page it doesn't list the SE. It only lists Birthright, Conquest, and a two-pack they're offering of both (seen on attached picture). Weird...but that would imply not even online orders would be honored which makes no sense so I'm guessing it's just missing either cause you can't get it anymore?

This whole thing is irritating. I wish corporate would just put out a statement to put people's minds at ease. At this point we're just speculating.

So has anyone tried calling their Gamestop? I called this morning and the guy told me mine was listed as..."no longer reservable" I think he said, although I'm not sure the exact words. He said that means it was cancelled, but it doesn't say cancelled online (still says its available). He honestly didnt sound like he knew what he was talking about.
Has anyone figured out if it was actually cancelled or not?

This topic nearly gave me a heart attack. And of course tomorrow is Christmas so they won't be open for me to call and confirm my order.
However, you can check the status on the Power up rewards section of your orders. Trying to check via the in store check by entering your email and order #/credit card # (couldn't try order # cause my receipt is not with me now) did not work. It said no orders were found, but with the other method I was able to see that my order seems to not be cancelled.
I did order on 11/13 though, one day after the Direct and paid in full that day, for reference.

Waiting for the English release, so haven't played the game yet, but so far:
Azura (seems a bit boring and omg I can not stand her hair. Like those sad excuse for bangs in her face. I want to cut them off.)
Izana (wouldn't marry him and he can't be paired off so useless)
Felicia (boring)
Hinata (reminds me of Vaike design wise)
The Awakening Trio (I loved them (except Severa) in Awakening but they should have stayed there. No need for repeats in Fates)
Pieri (seems annoying)
Charlotte (I don't like her design or her personality description)
I don't know how they make children work in this game (plot-wise because I've tried to stay as spoiler-free as possible), but they don't bug me so far. There's a lot of hate for the children that I don't understand, but I can only assume it has to do with a weak integration of why they are included in the first place.

Is there a list somewhere of all the possible marriages in Fates by Hoshido, Nohr, and Revelation? I know some of the S-supports are outlined in the Wikia, but are they accurate? Are there any characters that are like Sumia where she can only S-support a few people for some reason? Or characters like Anna that can only marry the Avatar?
If anyone has a list or a link to a list that would be great! (Or if you can confirm the validity of the Wikia)

No, but really. I'd like to see less changing of the names (bring back Joker not Jakob! And Suzukaze! We aren't that dumb that we can't handle that name, NoA.)
((Although I'm guessing Joker and Leon were changed to not be confused with the Batman villain and the blonde hero of Resident Evil.))
An older female age and a younger male age. Why is there a kid and middle option for female and a middle and old dude option for male only?? Awakening had 3 types each!
Non-removal of "petting session simulator". ...what? Japan's the only one that gets that weirdly interesting looking and hilarious as all hell option of My Room?
Easier access to gold or cheaper forging\buying (not to the extent of gold farming in Awakening but a little more).
As little censoring as possible (none if possible).

I've never tried to understand the nuances of optimal pairing and children and such. I marry for love (LOL).
My current plan (subject to change), is to marry Silas in Hoshido; Kaze or Flannel in Nohr; and Kaze or Joker (Jakob) in Revelations; Are these really bad picks? Specifically Silas, since I haven't heard all that much about him.

No idea about online, but definitely call your local Game Stop physical location and ask them. I got mine with an in store preorder but that was the day after it was announced so it's been a while.

I can't say for sure since I haven't played any, but I have predetermined who I think will be my favorites. I'm really happy with a lot of the guy characters (I liked a lot in Awakening too so I'm glad that hasn't changed). For the girls, there are a few who seem cool, at least. Much more than Awakening where I liked pretty much none of them.

Guys (My fave types seem to fall under: "boring nice guy friend" [read: Stahl], "cliche, of course you picked him guy" [read: Chrom], and "the bad boy, aloof dude who's really caring deep down" [read: Lon'qu]; and even the jokester (especially if he has orange hair as they often do! (ie: Hikaru/Kaoru; The Flash)--in terms of FE [read: Gaius]. It sounds like I like all characters (lol) but really I can't go for the mean/in charge ones or the little boy lolita ones. Or the girly ones.
1. Silas (I love that he was your best friend. I always fall for those cliche best friend turned boyfriend/husband storylines. Also, he reminds me the most of Stahl (my fave from Awakening).
2. Kaze (Even though the secondary main character is a female this time (Azura/Aqua), I feel like the most obvious choice/equivalent of Chrom is Kaze (again I haven't played it so I could be dead wrong. I like his sense of loyalty and his overall appearance).
Honorable mentions:
Takumi (I've been hearing good things about him and I like his appearance);
Jakob (I liked him a lot earlier in the year, but didn't as much after his name was changed (Joker was a cool name!). I once
again fell for the best friend/loyal servant trope falling in love with the good friend);
Flannel (cute and cute personality)
Saizou, Subaki, Xander, and Leo interest me, but probably not much farther than as cool characters. Not near the top, but seem cool.

For the children (I don't include them in the potential partners list ever cause I still feel a little weird about romancing them, but to each his/her own. I was a big fan of Gerome in Awakening and in some later play through will probably end up romancing him). The children seem pretty cool for Fates, so I'm glad.

I originally wanted to create a headcanon that the Avatar would actually be a set of twins that were separated.One at Nohr, one in Hoshido. I was gonna have Cira (sun) be in Hoshido, Luna (moon) be at Nohr, and the middle path be Nova (star?). I liked the similar names and idea but since they announced Luna in Nohr already that kind of destroyed that idea.
[in Awakening my headcanon was that my 2 canon playthroughs had 1 female (Seraphina) and 1 male (Seraphim) that were the same person but in alternate realities.]
So I'm probably gonna just do something similar to Awakening.
