  1. By first dibs do you mean how they were the first to be with him? If so, that's kind of bullshit, since it's ignoring his feelings and experiences from that point on. It's treating him more like an object than a person. It's like me arguing with a friend over who gets to go out with a girl we both like. I spent time with her first, but she spent more time with my friend. Claiming, "I was with her first" is highly immature and disregarding that she might have a deeper connection with my friend due to spending more time together. Heck, in real life, I think like that sometimes in regards to my best friend when he hangs out with his other friends, since he's one of the only friends I have, but then I remember that I'm not his only friend and even if I dislike some of his friends, he has a right to hang out with them as he pleases. As for his Nohrian family lying to them, well if I remember correctly, Corrin knew he was adopted, so they didn't outright lie to him like Ryouma did. Plus didn't only Xander know? Also there's still the fact that by accepting Azura as one of them, the Hoshidians showed they don't really adhere to their argument, because they still treated her like family even though she isn't by their definition. Granted Azura isn't related to the Nohrians, but did any of the Hoshidians know that?
  2. I think we only been bringing it up as a reminder of how false the ads for the game was, and how if Garon was handled better, the Hoshidians would have nothing going for them. On a sidenote, Ryouma is quite a hypocrite, since he knows the truth. Heck, the fact that he accepts Azura as his sister in an early cutscene shows how bullshit his reasoning. If blood is so important, then he should have had returned Azura returned to Nohr.
  3. I think it's just rehashing the same idea over again. A method that's pretty common in this series.
  4. Just saying that compared to other games, it's far more hentai-y. It's like they were encouraging fans to make hentai. Heck, on this one NSFW site I know, there is 14023 FE images, and about 3182 of those are Fates. The only other games to break over a 2,000 images are Awakening, and both of the Tellius games combined. FE7 is just around 1200. Everything else is under 1,000. That said, if we are to continue this debate, we should do it with PMs, since it's off-topic from the thread. EDIT: Back on topic
  5. Well, I meant more in the idea that the fear he might be forced to kill his siblings would cause nightmares, not to mention all the other stuff that happens that would easily traumatize a person.
  6. That might have something to do with Japanese values, but my only real knowledge of their values is that they have gender roles one might see as sexist, they're incredibly polite, they dislike guns, and they don't see suicide as reprehensible as the US does. Heck I just did a Google search on their views as step-siblings, and the only thing related I could find was this. http://www.capcom-unity.com/mega_man/go/thread/view/7461/30673865/culture-in-japan-and-differences-with-western-culture So I'm not sure how step-siblings might be considered. Though, technically the Hoshidians would be step-siblings to Corrin too.
  7. Reading No.7 on Mikhail's list makes me think Conquest plot could have worked fine, if they had Corrin go slowly more and more insane as the plot went on due to PTSD. I mean, he should be having nightmares about killing his siblings.
  8. Yeah, morally ambiguous would be more like Corrin caring more about the good of the country he grew up than the one he was born in, or at least where everyone thinks he was born in. (We don't know what was going on with Mikoto before she showed up in Hoshido). Now we have somebody who is a hero for fighting to protect his country, but also a villain for attacking another country to do so. No bullshit about "I'm going to invade this country to save it, and everything will be hunky-dory". If Corrin at least acknowledge the fact what he was doing was wrong and could have serious political consequences, then he would be more of a well-intentioned extremist, instead of a naive fool.
  9. Just wait, next thing you know, you're married to the love of your life who suddenly turns out to be your cousin.
  10. To be fair, in this thread it's been mentioned that political relations aren't well established, hence that misconception. At first I was confused on whether the other nations where other countries, or just provinces ruled by officials that were a part of Hoshido.
  11. Nope, regular hentai sites. Because deep down, most people are probably perverts. At least, that's probably IS's mindset considering they let us marry Corrin to his siblings, and Camilla's existence. Really, Fates was practically made to be Rule 34'ed.
  12. Fair enough. Man, did the writers really screw up the worldbuilding. Can't even keep what they did build consistent. Though if Thane is right about there being different writers for the story and the supports, that would explain why. Plus I could bring up Sunwoo's argument that what's stated in the story takes precedence over what's stated in supports, though there's still the market to consider.
  13. I had no intention of doing that. Just stating things could be worse.
  14. No, bottom of the barrel would be posting pages from a hentai doujin that focused on the siblings telling their dirty secrets to win a contest hosted by Nina with Corrin as the prize. Yes, such a thing exists, and yes, I read it, unfortunately.
  15. I think it's a bit too presumptious to think everyone in Nohr is like. After all, say you are a Nohrian soldier. Your king is a tyrant making peace talks impossible(though I don't remembered if he acted like such in public), your family is starving, and you're told to invade a country with bountiful resources, resources that could feed your family. What would you do? Not invade the country that has done nothing wrong, resulting in your family possibly starving to death, or invade an innocent country to save your family. Alternatively you could try to overthrow the king and try to establish trade with other countries, but what does Nohr have to trade with? Granted with Ryouma as king of Hoshido, trade is likely to happen, though there could be tension as Hoshidians might not be happy with just giving supplies away to a country that was about to invade them. In the end, the Nohrians are in a pretty tough position. That said, the Nohrian siblings are idiots for going along with Garon, since they definitely seen up close how terrible a person he can be. On a side note, I think this should be the next FE game. The MC isn't a lord, rather it's some poor schmuck stuck in an army doing questionable things for the sake of protecting his country.
  16. I called it that since I felt it would be appropriate to give it a proper name as it sets up a major part of Garon's character, plus it seems like the something that would be well remembered and given a appellation due to how tragic and influential it was, like 9/11, the black plague, Hurricane Katrina, or for a fictional example, the Red Wedding from GoT. I called it the Crimson Harem since I couldn't call it a war or battle or anything, since it was that would imply violence that was more "outspoken" than simple assassinations and political plots. So I was stuck, with having to convey the violence without going overboard. So I copied the Red Wedding, and called it the Crimson Harem, referring to how members of Garon's harem, or concubines, caused much bloodshed amongst themselves. That said, I willing to take suggestions for names. I thought about it, but that's been inactive for a while seeing how it hasn't been on the front page for a few months, so I was concerned it might be considered a nerco-post.
  17. Okay I'm back, with some character changes this time. Characters Sumeragi no longer marries Mikoto. Instead, he meets her and her child while they're being chased by slavers. Sumeragi steps in and saves them. Wanting to know why they were being chased, Sumeragi asks Mikoto only for her to simply thanks him and run off. They eventually met again several times, due to Sumeragi looking for them to get an answer about what happened that day. They become friends over time, with Sumeragi eventually falling in love with her. But he refuses to act on those feelings since he's still in love with his wife. Time passed and one day Sumeragi's wife becomes sick, and in a few weeks, dies. Sumeragi, remembering Mikoto's motherly and caring nature that he loved her for, and not wanting his children to grow up without a mother, seeks her out, only to find her at death's door in her bed, dying from disease just like his wife. In her final moments, Mikoto tells him of her home country, Valla, and how her former lover, and the father of her child, was a dragon, making her child a manakete, the half-dragons of lore. She implores him to protect her child from those who would abuse his powers, and falls unconscious, weakened from her sickness. Sumeragi promises he will protect her child, and rushes to the palace in hopes of finding a healer to save her, taking her child with her, not wanting them to be left on their own defenseless. He returns with healers in tow, only to find she died in her sleep. The last few parts of Sumeragi's background is to explain why Corrin was with him when he was killed by Garon, as Sumeragi didn't trust the child to be safe in the hands of others, nor did he want others to be injured fulfilling a promise he made. Garon is largely the same. The Crimson Harem(my name for the waifu wars) starts with an attempted murder on Xander, only for his mother, the Queen, to shield him and die instead. Word gets out the assassin was hired by one of the concubines, but no one knows who. Motivated by the possibility of their child becoming the crown prince, and distrust of the others, fighting breaks out among the concubines in forms of trickery, deceit, and assassination. With perpetrators unknown and busy keeping a starving kingdom alive and together, with many nobles using the unrest to try and overthrow him, Garon is unable to stop the fighting. The fighting ends with the arrival of Arete, the new soon-to be Queen. This inspires a group of children, no longer wanting to be pawns of their mothers' plan to gain power, to band together and assassinate the rest who didn't accept their offer to end the fighting, seeking for the bloodshed to finally come to an end and to live in peace with their family under the reign of the new queen. This ends with the concubines and their children dead, save for a few, such as Leon and Camilla, and those who left the castle to escape the violence, such as Elise's mother who is to give birth soon at the time of Arete's arrival. (She's going to die in child birth to explain her absence in the story) With the violence over, and a new wife and Queen to help care for his family and kingdom, Garon seeks out an audience with King Sumeragi of Hoshido, hoping to trade with them for their bountiful crops. And that took me about an hour to write so I'm taking a break. Also I'm thinking of making a thread just to discuss my version of the story, as I don't want to clutter up this thread with my various ideas, and I don't want them to become lost among everyone else's ideas. Should I make a thread, or should I just continue posting them here? Also, I would like to note that the Avatar system was kind of present in Rekka No Ken
  18. I been doing some heavy thinking about how to improve the story. Here's what I came up with. Worldbuliding The First Dragons are now the leaders of their own tribe of Humans and Dragons, with every tribe living together in the continent-wide Kingdom of Valla, which is ruled by First Dragons. Civil war erupts between them and their tribes, resulting in mass casualties, due to heavy use of the Dragon's Vein. Dragons are nearly driven extinct, with humans only surviving due to a previously huge population. Fearing extinction themselves, a rebel group create a special type of song that weaken those with dragonic blood to overthrow their rulers and stop the fighting. The First Dragons are defeated after more bloodshed, and sign a treaty saying they will protect and bless the Kingdom while the humans govern themselves. The Vallite Royal Family is formed, but many tribesmens, after seeing how much of Valla is in ruins due to the war, leave and set out on their own. The First Dragons spread themselves across the land to help the land grow and protect it, while their lesser kin stay behind to protect Valla. The individual countries are formed, many worshipping the Dragon that protect their area of the continent and Valla fades into obscurity, being remembered as a fairy tale, not an actual kingdom. The Dusk Dragon of Nohr is worshipped for it's ability to bring rain to the land, helping what little farmland there is grow, while Nohr invades and plunders other lands to compensate for the lack of farmland. At the start of the story, the rain has not fallen in many years, leading to increased strife, both in and outside the country. The Dawn Dragon establishes order among a tribe in constant civil war over who will rule the bountiful land they control, leading to the eventual formation of Hoshido, and the establishment of it as the country's guardian deity. I'll write more later, since writing tires me out.
  19. This is the same story which had the copout of not being blood-related to the Hoshidians so players could marry them. It's pretty clear the writers have no standards and/or are incompetent, so the explanation being true wouldn't be that surprising. It's lazy, yes, but the same could be said for most of Fates' plot.
  20. Got this from TvTropes Throughout the entire game, Garon is pretty much as Obviously Evil as one could possibly get. However, if one takes into account the fact that Anankos is actually controlling his corpse, it can also explain why he acts so obviously cruel. For one thing, Garon is already mentioned as turning bitter due to the horrific infighting between his concubines, so there are already some explainable reasons for his shift in personality. Furthermore, Anankos is a dragon that has gone totally insane, due to the mental degeneration that dragons experience when they live for too long, and it's also strongly implied that the familiar possessing Garon's corpse was created around the time his insanity really started taking over. Due to this, and his extreme hatred for humanity due to his experience with humans turning on him, it can be safe to say that the reason he acts so clearly villainous is because the being controlling him doesn't think about being subtle, because he literally can't.Another justification comes from how the Puppet-Garon acts in general. Puppet-Garon has all of Garon's memories, and during the last few years of his life Garon became paranoid and much more bitter as a result of his wives killing each other and his kids. Puppet-Garon seems to genuinely think he's the real Garon, until anything forces him to reveal his true form, as hinted by Revelation when Puppet-Garon thinks he'll be a vessel for Anankos. Puppet-Garon in all likelihood viewed those memories of Garon's life and acted on it, but since it was not there to feel the emotions he had, it likely assumed Garon was a terrible person or was evil for what he did. After all, if Anankos is insane, then he'd be unable to discern happiness from anger. Conclusion: Maybe Anankos and Gooron are too insane to plan properly.
  21. Oh god, the first comic had me flash back to Corrin's kidnapping. More Blazblue Emblem, which actually sounds like a cooler crossover than FExSMT.
  22. I wouldn't put it past him to have killed her parents to sell their blubber.
  23. Could you provide the exact quote please?
  24. I would wear a shirt if I was you. Sex with Velour could get quite... physical if you catch my meaning. It would blow the affair wide open.
