Will this patch be compatible with the Unit Ordering patch?
Or is that the gameplay change you were talking aboutedit: never mind, the gameplay fix changed everything. no need for it
-
I thought it was a joke too but it turns out it's just a menu patch, for now. The story text so far is still either in Japanese or a in a garbled state
edit: never mind, it was a joke patch. all the actions are replaced with wait
-
I never really had a problem with it before but it looks a lot cleaner now that there's more space in-between and they're all not jumbled up on the right. I'd also stick with WpnLvl, just cuz
now if only Catria could stop showing up as Caeda in ch 7 and 14 -
Will this patch be compatible with the Unit Ordering Patch? It would be great if it did, it'll help a lot in the later chapters when you need specific characters in certain starting spots

The one that startles me the most is Erinys. Like, I've hated project Naga for renaming Fury to Erin for a quite a while, and now the official name is Erinys of all things. Ahh well, the large reason why I hated it was because how it came out of nowhere, but this is official so it puts a lid on that.
But seriously Diarmuid sounds so odd. I do like Chulainn a lot, though, the more things that remind me to SMT the better and Cu Chulainn is always a terrific demon. Still, I find it strange how nearly none of the names from Thraica got changed. Like, even odd names like Mareeta and Machuya still remain. It's almost as if they planned to localize Genealogy at some point but not Thracia.

I'm pretty sad about this, especially for Machyua/Makua/Machua/Machuya. They didn't even try for hers and I've been waiting for a proper translation :(

As for this, bookofholsety said here and on his twitter that he'll be changing the names when the app comes out

I don't remember ever seeing that happen in Shaya's patch
-
Alright I figured out how to merge the two patches together thanks to VincentASM a couple of months ago but I forgot to post it here and Arch's thread. So here's my Sum Patch that includes both this and the Sync Patch.
-
Cool, thanks for the update!
It also looks a lot more professional now, nice job man
edit: You're supposed to patch it on a raw ROM file right? Because in the Readme it says "Make sure you apply the patch to an translated Japanese ROM."

Did you happen to fix the conversation for Boah and Midia in Chapter 12?
-
Don't know if this was caught yet, but I can report 2 errors with the ending. This might be because I had been playing the game with a different patch, and essentially did just the ending on Project Naga (though I'll be using it more in future). Haven't read through the thread, so if any have already come up, sorry. Oh, and was playing this on Higan, if emulator is relevant.
The first is during the Jungby section, where I got this image after Faval and Lester. For reference, neither had been paired off, and their dads were Midir!Lester and Holyn!Faval.
Glitch found(Jungby, after Lester).png
(I don't.... I just don't know why)
The second is in the scores. For ALL characters, the number of deaths is the same number: 116. And while I know I am far from amazing at this series, I can't think any of them died that much.
For your second problem, this is a glitch that happens when defeating Julius with a character who has Canto. This happened to me too when I finished him off with Seliph and every unit of mine had 116 losses. Here's where I posted it. They have mentioned this before, but they haven't mentioned it since (they've been busy squashing other bugs).
As for your first, I don't have an answer for that one.
-
This is completely unrelated and it has been mentioned before but is the ranking glitch going to be fixed? By which I mean the one where the rankings drop significantly after whatever character finishes off Julius and has Canto. For me, all my characters got an automatic 114-116 losses to their record.
I have a save file where Julius is at 5 HP. You'll just have to move Julia out of the way, send in Seliph to double, dance with Lene, and send in Seliph again for the finishing blow.
Thanks for all your hard work guys, can't wait to see what your Thracia 776 will look like!

Oh no, feel free to continue if you so choose. I didn't mean to be too condescending, I'm just suggesting on giving your input to Gaiden Guy's thread as they've already gone through a lot of trial-and-error into hacking in the ROM and decompiling/fitting text characters that will save you a lot of time.

Here's the patch
This is a patch that combines both of Arch's Sync Patch and shinpichu's Gaiden Removal Patch
This is their work, not mine. It would be best to check out both of their threads if you want specific information about them. I just copied the script file of shinpichu's patch and replaced it in Arch's after decompiling both patched ROMs. S/O to VincentASM for teaching me this.
For patching help, download deltapatcher and apply the patch to an empty Fire Emblem - Shadow Dragon (U).nds ROM
EDIT: To go into further detail from what I originally posted (since I've been recognized here), this patch contains the improved growth rates of characters as well as some other things from Arch's patch, and skips the gaiden chapter objectives which require you to kill of a certain amount of characters from shinpichu's. However, this doesn't fix any of the errors found in either patch such as Ymir's lack of movement in his recruitment chapter. If those patches ever get updated, I'll try my best to update this as well.

Actually someone's already on this, come over to Gaiden Guy's patch if you're interested:

In the thread, someone suggested Sieg instead of Zeke and Tyna/Tina for Teeta

may i ask what DS emulator you're using and version? im using nesDS version 1.3b and everything is always garbled on fe 1 and 2...
I'm playing it on a flash cart and in order to un-garble most of the text, you have to go in the menu then go to [Game] then [Display] and on the bottom right, choose [All puresoft]. While it does make the text visible, the actual sprites don't run as smooth as they do in [sprites Perframe] and [sprites Pertile].
Also, since you're using 1.3b you can save your configurations/shortcuts under [settings] then [save nesDS.ini] so you don't have to set it to [All puresoft] every time you play (like the older versions did). But if you ever start a game and the sound is on but the screen is still black, go back to [Display] under [Game] and switch back and forth from [sprites Perframe/Pertile] to [All puresoft] to fix it again. I don't really know why it does this but it'll sometimes happen.
-
Is there any chance you can make the text font a little thicker or have it made in bold font? Because I'm currently using the nesDS emulator and occasionally I can't read the text font. Here are how they show up in nesDS with comparisons of an older patch, yours, and Gaiden's for shits and giggles.
Keep up the good work, the patch is great thus far!
It's just that font that really throws me off.edit: I learned how to hyperlink

I happened to just clear it but I'll probably be right back there sometime tomorrow. I am actually currently creating an epic masterpiece of a revamp of this game and wanted to use Ymir and got a harsh reminder of this movement glitch. I don't see anything in Nightmare that could help me fix it.
I'm also not too happy that I can't find any unit disposition editors, but I found some interesting ways around that to make the many bosses cursed with no 1~2 range in the original not garbage anymore.
I'm also wondering if anyone knows how to get an Elysian Whip. I've tried turning other items into it and they either freak the fuck out or it becomes an unusable Elysian Whip.
Since Nintendo shut down WiFi services for all their Wii and DS games, I actually use the altwfc server (http://www.altwfc.net/) and found that it works for SD's Online Shop. Of course, you'll have to access the shop on the right days for the Elysian Whip (like the 1st, 11th, 21st, and 31st I believe of every month).

hrm
well as for what I changed, it's bee a while so I don't really remember. But you should be able to open the unpatched and patched ROMs in HxD and do a file compare, and that will tell you what I changed. I didn't use any fancy tools, just edited the ROM in a Hex Editor.
Alright I'll do that, thanks man!
-
Have you tried both individually to make sure they work?
Yep they work absolutely fine
-
Have you tried applying the patch and just seeing what happens first? Backup your ROM first, obviously.
Wow that was really fast of youYep, I've actually tried both alternatively. I first did the patch for Gaiden and applied the Sync patch, but all I got when I booted it up was a white screen on my flash cart. I also did the reverse, in which I applied the Sync first, then Gaiden.
-
Sure, I guess.
There's not much about it to make open source, lol. Just changed 4 bytes is all.
Hey there, I have Arch's Shadow Dragon Sync Patch already applied to my ROM of Shadow Dragon; however, I want to be able to also have this patch as well. Can someone help me in understanding how to apply this second patch over my first or give me assistance in which 4 bytes are changed in whatever open source program it's edited in?
Thanks in advance

There's the original patch made by Artemis521 and a localization patch that was put on hiatus. Both are completely playable but the latter still has some unlocalized names. So you'll have to decide whether you want full unlocalized names or half unlocalized names
