VIEW RESULTS AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST UNDER "EDIT" The Fire Emblem Fates community has been pretty split on which of the two samurai retainers for the Hoshidan Royal Family is better, so the time has finally come to end it, once and for all! I am personally on Team Hinata, but I want to know YOUR opinion! (Note: Please choose between the first two, if at all possible. The last choice is really just for laughs. Only pick it if you don't like either Hana or Hinata.) EDIT: The results are in! At the time in which I am typing this Hinata is technically winning by two votes (42, 44, 19, 19), but due to the short distance between the two (which was constantly fluctuating) and request from other users I've decided to call this poll a tie. OMG all I did was create a forum late last night so that I could procrastinate studying for my finals, and now look at how far it has come over the course of one day! *cries a single manly tear* I am so proud. I am going to rename this thread to "Your Favorite Unpopular Units" to make this thread a place where people can share their favorite units who aren't as well-liked by everyone else and receive the opinions of other users on Serenes Forest. Consider this thread a safe, welcoming place where you can read the opinions that other people may have of your favorite characters and see them receive some much-needed recognition in the eyes of your peers. 2. To accommodate for all of my fellow Hinata lovers in the thread (yes I am a huge Hinata fan) as well as the people who like Hana, I am going to eventually create a new thread called "Hana vs. Hinata- Choose Your Side!" where people can vote on which Hoshidan samurai they prefer and debate which is better (or they could just pick the third path and vote for Ryoma). Again, thank you so much for your replies. I only joined Serenes Forest recently, and I've been struggling to gain a foothold in the community as an iconic member and die-hard lover of FE. I can understand that way of thinking, but it's pretty shallow-minded. I prefer the ambiguity of having them both be different versions of the same character rather than to trying to differentiate them. But thanks for your input.

(Please don't hate me for this. It's just my opinion, and I want to know your thoughts.) So I was looking at some of the current results for a Fire Emblem Fates popularity poll here on Serenes Forest (Check it out here: http://serenesforest.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=64072)and I felt as though there were many characters who were being horribly misrepresented. Why is it that almost every single one of the characters that had a higher "dislike" score than "like" score are characters that I actually like? Here are some examples. If at all possible, if there is a character on here that you don't like, please tell me why. I would really appreciate the input. - Hayato I find Hayoto's over-confidence endearing. His characterization does well to remind me of one of my personal favorite units, since I really liked Ricken back in Awakening. - Yukimura My favorite of the CorrinSexuals, aside from Izana. He works really hard to protect Hoshido and I think people need to give him a little more credit. - Nyx I gave her the Excaliber tome at the end of my Conquest play-through and she destroyed EVERYTHING. I also really like her character design and I S-supported her on a whim. No regrets. - Asugi I didn't like Gaius back in Awakening, because he was worthless in a fight if you didn't put in the time to train him up or reclass him. Asugi is different. The superiority of the Ninja class and his ability to inherit skills allows him to be a powerful force on the battlefield. - Hisame The big one. The one that I just cannot comprehend. There are so many reasons to like him. He's great in battle with his high defense inheritance, he has good supports with many of the other units, he has good voice-acting, he is the ONLY character Shigure can gain a class from in an A+ support, and his quotes are HILARIOUS. In case you didn't know, his pickle obsession wasn't something that was added onto his characterization in the localization. And while I'm not overly fond of Rhajat, I definitely like her WAY more than I liked Tharja. I DESPISED Tharja, but Rhajat isn't as bad, imo. The lesbian S-support really helps her case, too. Most people don't agree at all, and I have no idea why. If Niles is so loved, then why can't Rhajat just be given a little bit of that credit? I'm just saying. And also, why is Male Corrin always ranked lower than Female Corrin? They are literally THE EXACT SAME CHARACTER. They have NO DIFFERENCES WHATSOEVER. Please explain. Seriously. In the Heirs of Fate DLC Velouria uses a different portrait in the second half of her critical animation. Normally she uses her "angry" portrait (in which her eyes are open), but instead she uses her "eyes closed" portrait. What do you think this is? Is it a developer oversight? A localization error? Kiragi, Asugi, and Hisame are all better than Shigure and Caeldori, battle-wise. If you don't recruit them, you'll be missing out.

I fixed my first post. There's a helpful link there, if you need it. According to the inheritance planner, Mozu!Midori has a 55% growth in Speed and a Speed cap boost of +5. Maybe you were just lucky, but Mozu!Midori is NOT slow. At all.

Pair Hinata up with Kagero. It will make a DEADLY Hisame. Str cap +5 and Def & Res cap +2 along with reliable growths will allow Hisame to tear everything to shreds. Edit: Never mind. Kagero is already taken. The other really good mother is Hinoka, but she's taken, too. A good alternative would be Hana, I guess. Hisame would suffer from poor Def, though. I'll give you some 2nd gen pairings: Kiragi x Midori (my OTP) Kana x Percy (they are both kids, so it's not weird) Dwyer x Mitama (lazy healers with hilarious dialogue) I'll just stick with those. I don't want to be greedy.

In my Birthright run, Takumi and Saizo were my most unexpectedly powerful. Takumi destroyed EVERYTHING. His insanely high Crit rate, Hit rate, and Attack made him a serious force to be reckoned with, far exceeding my expectations for him. I mean, I know he's supposed to be a prince and all, but come on. That Fujin Yumi is just too OP. Saizo was also a bit of a shock. Going into Fates, I was under the impression that Ninja weren't good classes, like the Rogues back in PoR. When I got Saizo, I soon discovered I was very, very wrong. He could double any foe, deal plenty of damage with each hit, and could actually take more abuse if he got hit than most other Ninja, all while still getting reliable dodges. He was a beast, and I like him WAY more than I did, originally. In my Conquest run, it would have to be Arthur and Odin. I am aware that most people would normally pick Effie over Arthur due to her excellent growths, but I didn't like Effie, and I still don't. So, I took Arthur instead, and I worked really hard to train him up. His growths and ability to land hits were shaky as I trained him, but as soon as I upgraded him into a Berserker he became an absolute MONSTER. His Skill stat went up dramatically and he could finally get reliable hits, all while getting a critical on each and every single one of them. Give him a Dual Club and a forged Killer Axe named "Fist of Justice" and watch him tear everything to pieces. Odin was a bit of a different case, due to the fact that I reclassed him. It just didn't feel right to have Odin not use a sword, and his first couple of levels as a Dark Mage gave him Str instead of Mag, which I found odd. So I made him a Samurai and gave him a forged Iron Sword called "Fatessiletainn" and he just annihilated anything and everything in his path. His high Crit rate combined with his amazing Avoid rate made him the legend on the battlefield I always knew he had the potential to be.

I don't particularly like any of Ike's crit quotes, except for "No holding back!". I don't know why, but for some reason that quotes always make me giggle. Maybe it's the execution. Or the timing. I don't know.

Preach it, Rey. Preach it. His performances as Ike in PoR and Fates are definitely shaky, but I actually really liked his performances in RD and Smash Bros.

In all honesty, I'd give those pairings an even split. Xander/Charlotte: 8/10 (4/5 + 4/5) Makes Siegbert better on offense, but suffer defensively. Selena/Charlotte: 8/10 (4/5 + 4/5) Makes Siegbert much more well-rounded with good defenses. If you don't plan on having Xander marry another royal, Charlotte and Selena are both definitely his best options. I had a genuine struggle over which of them would be with Xander and Keaton when I was planning my pairings for my Revelations Lunatic run. in the end, I decided on Selena with Xander to keep Siegbert safer on defense and give Charlotte to Keaton due to Velouria being able to snag a whopping boost of seven to her Str cap and due to her having increased Def from Selena being unnecessary for a unit who is defensively strong by default.
