I would not be surprised at all if they decided to bend the rules to make a way to upgrade the Askr trio unlocked by reaching some climactic story event that requires them to power up.

They already have a means of modifying a unit's artwork and stats through Resplendent Heroes and adding new skills to a unit through all sorts of methods, and I don't think it would be stretch if they implemented a way to give the Askr trio additional "unit-type tags" like Legendary status or some new-fangled unit type on top of stat and skill updates upon reaching a specific point in the story.

So like an old-school Lord promotion? I am fully in approval of such a move.

Askr and Embla have always been presented as equals and in the same "world". It's been a while since book 2, but I'm pretty sure the party had to pass through a magic gate to get to Nifl, to which I've always assumed it wasn't in the same realm as Askr and Embla. And therefore, it was okay if they were a little different from Askr and Embla, because they were not in the same real.

Also, whether it counts for anything or not, the Nifl and Muspell groups are just weird. Fjorm, Gunnthra, and Hrid are legendary while Ylgr are not. None of the Muspell characters are legendary, not even their deity. And Nifl isn't mythic or legendary even though three of her descendants are legendary. If Fjorm and her siblings being legendaries were due to some "early installment weirdness" issues, I could believe that. Legendary Veronica doesn't really have that.

So basically they get Arcane weapons than anyone else with the right weapon type can also inherit, with no precedent for Ascended or Legendaries and to be stuck forever in their base form and a few seasonal units. Yay.

And yes, I get that it's possible to get the Askr trio to do bare minimum kills without a lot of investment. It's still dumb. Anna is the biggest load and I remember some BHBs of ridiculously broken later book units require more setups.

I just don't think there's any way to "fix" the Askr trio without heavily bending the rules. It's possible to make them good, but the amount of investment you have to put on them is crazy high, and the whole "but I could invest on better units for better results" argument is a problem that will always be there. Releasing them as a Legendary unit worked for Veronica because OG Vero was never playable, but releasing Legendary Alfonse won't make OG Alfonse problems go away. It feels the only way to make them good on their own right is to re-refine their weapons, which I really don't see happening.

At the very least, I feel they should let you get them as Grail units so they have access to the All Stats +4 from the merges. I honestly don't think there's any excuse for not having that by now.

Although part of me kinda likes the challenge of using them for BHB quests without any investment.

Wait, people still try in Aether Raids? Even I'm not machoistic enough for that shit.

I still do it. I just do well enough not to drop tiers but I hardly care about making optimized teams. For the most part I just let Autocreate make my teams.

I don’t think I have bothered to look at my defense teams in over a year, outside of maybe switching a couple of units.

Only mode I don’t care for is Summoner Duels. I’m still missing most of the fixed rewards there.

  4. Good thing I skipped the Arval banner because I kinda want all of these characters.

I'm sure there are other characters who score just as well or better than them who aren't getting as many alts as they are

Pretty sure Fjorm x Laegjarn was a very highly requested Duo, though. This was definitely not a random choice.

    • Can I be honest, as someone who likes Eir? That music playing during her reveal... I'm not a fan of it. I know Eir isn't exactly the most chipper girl out there, and her entire background stands on a mountain of rotting corpses and despairing souls, but the music just sounds somber without even a shard of hope for what's to come, which by now Eir should have.

That's the Love Theme from FE3/12. Considering the scenes it plays in that game, it's actually a very fitting choice for Ascended Eir.

  6. Definitely going for Robin and Eir. Hope I get at least one of the two so I can spark the other.

Well, that's bizarre. I was expecting to hit Fates/Archanea/Tellius before Awakening, and the lineup is... Where's Kellam, or Laurent, or Validar? Or Vaike??? Why are any of these four getting in before them?

I mean, the remaining playable male characters from Awakening are pretty much equal in terms of importance and popularity, so they could have released any combination of two of Ricken/Gregor/Kellam/Vaike/Laurent and the banner wouldn't have been that much different. People were likely going to complain/celebrate regardless. Also, I think with Phila, every Awakening waifu is in the game in some form.

And I've said it before, and I'll say it until the very end. Kellam needs to be added to the game by simply adding him to your barracks as a 4*. No notice, no banner, no announcement, nothing. You start the game and he's there. That's it. And his first castle quote is that he says he's been there the whole time. Then he's added to the Grail Units in the next update.

  7. I'm honestly really excited about this. I like the concept a lot. Game looks visually outstanding, being the most colorful entry in the series. Character design is okay outside of a couple of characters, but I like it. Game comes out on the day after my Birthday so this will be a perfect present from me to me.

I probably won't talk about the game here, but I sincerely hope the game is good and you people enjoy it.

It seems part of this is based on the phallacy of you thinking they aren't the same character...but they are. Factually speaking, they are the same character. Now, a lot of time has passed and clearly their fan bases don't fully mesh which could give you practical reasons to say they are different, but they are the same person at different points in her life.

They’re the same person, yes. But still different characters. The concept of one person being used to portray two different characters is nothing new, which includes the concept of two characters being the same person at different points in time. Mario and Baby Mario are the same person but different characters. Same with Link and Young Link in OoT. Because that’s what the people handling the characters considers them to be, and Small Tiki and Big Tiki are no different in that aspect.

  9. Eh, okay banner. Est was expected I'm glad about Kamui and Atlas. Ymir is good too. Nooot sure how I feel about Lords getting Ascended variants. On one hand, it means another potential Micaiah, but on the other hand, it means another potential Micaiah.

Just yeet him into your reserves after grinding out his HM and forget he ever existed.

Do people seriously do this? I know there's people that have gotten every character to 8,000 HM, but it's such a grindy process that I can't even fathom why would you "Just do it and get rid of them" for a character you don't even like.

The story in the 2018 Halloween Tempest Trials kinda contradicts what you just said because both Dorcas and Mia recognize “Marth” from the Farfetched Heroes TT. Halloween Mia is even labeled as being from Radiant Dawn while base Mia is from Path of Radiance.

That, and the entire basis of Mia and “Marth” being a Harmonized duo is because they met in Askr (because otherwise, Mia and Lucina don’t have any particular major commonalities besides a very basic “they’re both swordswomen”) The different versions of a given character can be from different times but at the same time still retain memories they made in Askr previously.

I mean it doesn't really, because there's nothing  in Summer Micaiah and Elincia's dialogue that indicates they're the same people from the Hoshidan Summer event.

The Halloween TT with Mia, Dorcas and "Marth" and the Harmonized Duo of Mia and "Marth" definitely feels more like an exception since they intentionally wrote it that way. Almost every other event that references or features multiple versions of a character treats them as different people.

PFFF okay, so in the TT+, Miciah was wishing Sothe was there and Elincia talked about how she wishes various others were there (probably her uncle, Lucia, and Geoffrey.) Wow, even the characters here realize that this was a weird, patchwork selection. Also, Elincia talked about how she hadn't been able to hang out with Miciah much before. Uh, did they (the characters) legit forget about the Hoshidan summer event?

They're referring to the fact that they (Micaiah and Elincia) barely got to interact in Radiant Dawn, not in previous events in FEH. It has been heavily established by now that every version of a character summoned to Askr is a different one from previous versions and therefore no memories after being summoned are shared between versions of the same character, which means Summer Elincia & Micaiah don't know what Hoshidan Elincia & Micaiah did (because they're technically different people).

Heck, the last Forging Bonds made a huge deal on how the Retainers have to deal with tons of different versions of their respective Lords.
