  1. Cog of Destiny? Harken/Pent/Priscilla/Florina. Done. Er, quantity is not better than quality. For starters, FE7's supports are actually horrendously poorly written. Go read Dart/Geitz and see if it makes any sense. Renault is really the only saving grace in this game as far as supports go. Even the so-called "funny" supports (oh haha Serra thinks Lucius is a girl, how fucking amusing) pale in comparison to anything Rennac or Lute dish out. The best thing about FESS as far as supports go is that even the boring as fuck characters like Vanessa and Moulder can actually have good supports (Vannessa/Moulder B is probably one of the better supports in any of the games which have supports). Furthermore, FE7 has a whole slew of characters who are oddly out-of-place or otherwise put in only as nods to FE6 characters. What purpose does Karel have in FE7? None. He shows up, Joins you. For no real reason. Just cuz. Geitz, Vaida, Priscilla, Legault also follow this pattern. Many characters just seem like obstacles thrust in to a map to make them more complicated (Guy, Priscilla, Raven, Legault again, Fiora, Farina). In FESS, most characters have a real reason for joining your team, or at least their cause is more explictly detailed in the actual story. Garcia/Ross, Neimi/Colm, and Joshua/Natasha all have chapters where they are pertinent to what happens. Of course there are exceptions (Artur/Lute), but even then, Artur and Lute at least appear in the actual plot of the chapter instead of OH LOOK OTHER UNIT MUST RECRUIT. And as far as villains go. Valter Caellach and Orson murdalize anything FE7 can come up with, considering half of FE7's enemies are soulless puppets.
  2. I'm gonna throw out that Ghost Ship is more difficult than anything HHM has to offer. Although I'll agree that HHM as a whole is more difficult.
  3. That's funny, considering the plot has to dance around FE6's plot considerably, the main villain's motivations are disgustingly one-dimensional, and one of the main characters (Lyn) has absolutely no reason for existing after Chapter 16, and yet persists to stand around and say things until endgame. Furthermore, Lyn and Eliwood are unbelievably bland. And the cumulation of the plot is to fight something that was a generic enemy in FE6.
  4. Er... what exactly is supposed to be good about FE7's story?
  5. Mostly it's because people played FE7 first. FE7 is waaaaaaay worse in terms of story, characters, and gameplay.
  6. I play FESS because it's one of the better American FEs. In fact, probably the best.
  7. The average player doesn't do an efficiency playthrough :V
  8. I'm tempted to say that if someone has the patience to sit through two or so hours of tower/arena abuse, they DESERVE to have the game made easier for them.
  9. He recorded a runthrough but just has to convert it to actual video. He's old school, no emulators for him. Gameboy Player and such.
  10. The thing is that it gets to a point where exp gains are so tortoise-like that there's really little difference between soloing Lyn's mode and using two or three characters. She starts to gain like less than 5 exp per kill at a certain point.
  11. I've done a Lyn Solo of Lyn's Mode and she only got to like 14 or 15. No way is Sain hitting 18 in any normal playthrough.
  12. Yes yes, I cannot take sole credit for this, Othin and I worked in tandem. >.> Although I was the first to do it!
  13. The thing is, boss abuse is ridiculously time-consuming and slow. BEXP use is readily available and easy to use by anyone. If you really want to boss abuse Sain or someone to promotion by the end of Lyn's Mode, fine, but it's gonna take you like an hour or two. Bexp is there, in the open, requires no extra work whatsoever to use. Even Valni requires you to work at least somewhat to level up your characters; with Bexp, there is no effort whatsoever.
  14. The way I did it Lowen was never really in danger. I'm working on getting a video of it to show you guys.
  15. Even with Seth dicking around and doing stuff, Franz is the only other viable frontline combat unit until Vanessa gains a coupla levels. And also, considering that the exp nerfs in HM only start happening on Chapter 9, it's prudent to get your guys as highly leveled as possible before then, when they can still get 30 exp a kill even if they're somewhat overleveled.
  16. I've done it in 4. So it's possible. It does take some RNG abuse though. Marcus needs to crit the boss in order to ORKO him.
  17. There's a huge difference between not using Seth at all and using him as a crutch. But wait NEVERMIND EFFICIENCY
  18. BEXP in PoR is worse than Valni abuse due to it being so quick, exploitable, and readily available. I mean, by the time Valni becomes available in FESS, people like Franz should only be making like 5 exp per kill there.
  19. I think the main thing is the the exp. In FESS, exp gains suddenly turn to a crawl after Chapter 8. Tower abuse of course exists to remedy this, but by the time your units hit level 10 or so they start gaining very little exp from Valni as well. In PoR meanwhile there isn't very much of a decrease in exp gains and bexp is at times ridiculous. It's hardly even an issue to have characters promoted by Ch 13 or 14. Furthermore, the characters in PoR are overall better statistically than those in FESS, and the enemy stats aren't any better--at times even worse. And also, PoR has no chapter that's as difficult as even Ch 19 in FESS, let alone Phantom Ship. FESS actually gets a bum rap on the difficulty level, but I feel it's a tad underrated. I'd even say it's more difficult than EHM.
  20. What IS subjective is the interpretation of the post to which I was saying was ironic. But I'm not going to argue about irony with you. Durrrrrr don't think I don't know how Bexp levels work. Haar's capped str, skl, and def by level 19, which gives you a good level up there for spd, and he's capped skl and def far earlier than that, so it's quite likely to get spd bexp level ups as early as --/16. Of course, nobody seems to realize this and instead says 'HEY GUYS LET'S GO AND USE A MASTER CROWN ON HIM RIGHT AWAY !!!!!" and then say "Damn that Haar! He wastes a Master Crown AND has no speed!" If the speed issue is such a big deal, DON'T PROMOTE HIM EARLY. If the Master Crown issue is such a big deal, DON'T PROMOTE HIM EARLY. You can't complain that both of those are points against Haar when they're completely avoidable. And don't start with the whole "But he gets promotion bonuses!" because Haar does not immediately need more str, skl, or def than he already has, and not promoting him and using one or two levels of bexp gets him EVEN MORE speed than he'd get regularly. And furthermore, boss abuse =/= taking the time to kill most enemies. You can easily draw a line where the so-called "abuse" stops, it doesn't have to be an all-or-nothing "EFFICIENCY EFFICIENCY EFFICIENCY" kind of deal.
  21. But if you think I'm going to sit around here and argue about irony with you... then you are sorely mistaken. Much more affordable? There's no point in this game where you can't afford weapons. >.> Haar doesn't need a Crown either, unless you guys are only playing the Japanese version which would make no sense because I don't think any of you are Japanese. Haar doesn't need a Speedwing, he needs two levels of Bexp. Haar also doesn't need Savior because he can go off and do basically anything in Part 3 all by himself, and not with any weaker or less useful buddies. And no, Fiona would not be better than Titania, because babying is not the same as spending an extra three turns per chapter to rout most of the enemy units. And seriously, if you think there's a "casual" way to play FERD HM, you yourself have played the game far too much.
  22. Ironically, that was specifically what I intended to do, but I should have realized it wouldn't work.
