  1. Yeah, I like him. He's silly and him being Done and/or Confused with people amuses me. As a unit, he turned out fine, pretty strong, no RNG screw-ups. No reason for me to hate.
  2. Ryoma for me... I picked Hana over Hinata and she was a star for a while. But late game her lack of defense was becoming way too apparent, and eventually I treated her like I treat my healers and strategists: always keeping her behind the front lines and out of enemy range. Soooo she somewhat lost her purpose; most of the time I couldn't make her hit at all because she was either going to get severely damaged or die. As a character, she started to bore me because most of supports I've read she doesn't do anything else other than Train for Sakura. I know most FE characters are pretty 2d like this, but if I like the one-to-two traits the character has, I'll keep liking them. (Ex. never get tired of Kaden's vain commentary, and of Felicia's clumsiness.) Hana still has a cute design, though. Hinata, I didn't get to try at all yet (in middle of second path so still doing first playthrough of Fates), but I'm not sure if I'll use him ever... No interest... Have Revelations team somewhat planned and it doesn't include him. Sorry you don't get a chance man... Finally, Ryoma hasn't failed me. I think there was maybe one time or two he got badly hurt, but didn't die. This is why he wins.
  3. I already knew of Fire Emblem through Smash Bros, but I didn't really look into it until Awakening in summer 2014. So I'm late to the series. After I finished, I quickly got to work on playing the older ones. Completed FE9, FE7, and simultaneously in the middle of FE6, FE10, and FE14. Got busy throughout this school year, so they were all on hold. I have FE8 ready, too. Although, I've lost access to my friend's FE10 on wii, so I'm currently trying to find a way to emulate it. Dolphin giving me issues ehhh and I'm not computer-smart.
  4. I voted slow and steady completionist: mix of turtler and completionist, but I can get LTCer too and I'm eager to finish the story so I have a somewhat fast pace. I'm a defensive player, but I want to finish the map as efficiently as possible. But if I see that my team can't handle the enemies ahead, I will gladly take it as slow as needed to ensure survival. I want to collect all units and chests, but I don't collect all the supports so I'm more of a half-completionist. As for second poll, I voted No, don't let any units die, but I play casual mode. This is because I take the retreat as death, so I still reset. I only prefer casual mode just for the battle save. Don't want to waste too many hours restarting maps because of one bad move. And, I'm always on hard mode. Normal too easy, and I'm too lazy to think more for lunatic.
  5. I'm surprised no one has mentioned Lucina yet because Awakening plot just screams for her as protagonist. She's the one who pursues the antagonist with the most determination, she has gripe with Grima more than Chrom and Robin (after all Robin isn't even completely aware until way later, and Chrom is just like What???). The Future Past 3 was basically another way of telling the same story, and arguably has a more suitable ending than the main one. If the developers were really dedicated to it, they could've even approached the story by starting in future Ylisse with Lucina, and we could've watched her + squad go back in time -> building up to final climax. In addition, I feel like she is more of the "main face" of the game more than Chrom and Robin. Although, Awakening story is fun from Robin's POV, gotta give it that.
  6. 1. Story/writing. Given. 2. Remove child unit system and Awakening clones. Should've stayed in Awakening. 3. Add more avatar design options. Diversity, please. 4. Hmm arguably bring back weapon durability. It's true that it discourages using legendary weapons, but I think that can be solvable; maybe give a way longer number of uses? I've also read people saying they're solely an inventory management pain and nothing more--but I think that's the point. I like having to be careful with my resources, makes me think even more how to go about the battle. On that topic, kind of wondering at the thought of bringing back exp bonus too, from PoR and RD. Might make game easier, but I like that its point was being picky over which units to give exp to.
  7. I like Awakening more than Fates. Okay, this is basically a big complaint post... I find Fates gameplay just as enjoyable as Awakening's. My problem is the story. Firstly, it's a given that FE stories are generally simple. And that's fine, nothing wrong with simplicity. The one thing they could all really improve on is having a more dimensional antagonist, but whatever. It's more about the gameplay than having a "meaningful" narrative. So with that said... Awakening plot is pretty solid, simple enough ("kids go back to past to prevent disaster"), but writing is meh. Could be more concise, less cheesy. But Fates' writing is even worse. Even less concise, cheesier, more one-dimensional, and dialogue sounds more unnatural. I haven't finished Fates yet (went through Birthright, currently nearly at the end of Conquest) so I can't rightfully judge the plot, but whatever "big surprise" is being set up feels more complicated than it needs to be... Even if I'm wrong on that, the writing alone is enough for me to favor Awakening more. Tropes and characterizations are fine, but executions are disappointing via supports. Ex. repetitive patterns in conversation (a lot of them apologize to another for offending them, saying "Wait!" a lot) and unrealistic patterns (many are invasive so quickly like ???). There are lots of ways to write developing friendships. Most of all, I strongly dislike the Awakening clones, the reincarnation stories behind them (they were not creative about it + I reiterate bad execution), and bringing back child units. Do I really have to point out the obvious plot device excuse for the children's existences? Seriously: what was in Awakening should have stayed there. The children are completely irrelevant to the plot, and while I understand that they were an exciting and popular change for gameplay, I think they should've stayed as an Awakening thing. It makes sense that they were there. Instead of reusing a game aspect that wasn't as successful narrative-wise, they could've found another new thing to do. Despite all that said, I am immensely enjoying Fates, and still love my fav characters. And to not completely bash on it and be fair, there are some saving supports. A lot of Felicia's, Kaden's, and Jakob's supports are decent. Jakob+Takumi crack me up.
  8. I really think Birthright was meant to be played first. You will definitely care less about Birthright cast if you go Conquest first; at least in the beginning the story establishes relationships with Nohr siblings well enough to feel some sympathy for them when encountered in Birthright. They feel more intimate compared to Hoshido siblings' introductions. Plus, the script pushes for the player to side with Hoshido more than Nohr. Overall the story feels better when revealed in Birthright -> Conquest order. Feels more "canon." This is just my opinion though. Above all else, pick the one you are interested in more.
  9. Bless you, yo! Just picked it up. :)
  10. Does anyone have Leo with Vantage, and can put him up if so? Thanks.
