I'm going to nitpick because that's what I do as a former spriter and a current web developer.

    • The fonts look really out of place. I think a lot of it is because the game UI uses a border to add contrast between the characters and the background.
    • I'm not fond of italics being used for display of a single element.
    • Elements are not lined up properly with each other. The stats in a single row should share a base line with each other, and the stats in a single column should be left-, center-, or right-aligned.
    • "4*" and "5*" look rather unprofessional. I recommend actually using the star icons from the game assets. Plus, who doesn't like shiny stars next to their characters? Alternatively, you can use the gold/silver/bronze/gray/blue borders instead (or in addition) if you can find the assets.

Now I remember that I used to work with Photoshop for signatures. Participated in a gaming community forum, and one of the sections was actually signature presentations. Would have duels, contests and such.
My best work so far was a Master Chief signature with slight fog from behind, and my nickname at the time would have the bright visor of the helmet (forgot the name of that technique to render images through text).

Should've looked further into Spriters Resource's website - they actually have the stars :V

TBH, I wasn't tryharding with these two banners, but could tryhard for future ones. Need to relearn what I did years before.

    Thanks for feedback!

I like it.  I thought about making a Python program that automatically generates something similar, but I decided I was too busy xD

Pixlr is great, I've been using it for years.  Still plan on buying photoshop one day, it's only $100.00 a year these days. Is it possible to upload pixlr files?  I'd love to get ahold of this to make a few of my own varients, assuming the stats are text.

No idea, does pixlr files need an account? I use the editor when I suddenly have something in mind (Sorry for this, but I generally do not save after creating an image).

As for the assets, I googled around a while so....

    • Character renders can be found at a nice quality in the fire emblem wikia (did not look into the other fan wiki which is fireemblemwikia)
    • Found a render sheet of UI assets in Spriters Resource (also has other stuff if you want)
    • Stat icons are from a specific google search (League of Legends stat icons, should pop up)

That's pretty cool! I think a lot of people would like to use this sort of thing as signatures.

Now that I think about it, it looks more like a signature rather than anything. If anyone likes the concept for their videos then it is a bonus.

Got inspired again and pulled out my invested Palla (preparation for Flier Emblem, swapped Goad Fliers for Fortify Fliers). This didn't come out as thought but I think it is okay:

(Note for future unit banners: Add their weapon and movement type icons)

  3. These banners are usually seen when you watch a video of arena runs, GHBs describing the team used.

Taking inspiration on character splash arts with blur around focus area (League of Legends' skin selection when already locked in a champion), I attempted an Alfonse banner.

Since I do not have Photoshop, this was done in Pixlr (on browser, quite limited in comparison to Photoshop). Left attached a screenshot for stats reference.

  4. Got a -HP/+SPD Bridal Lyn after a summoning reset from pulling a second 4* Priscilla. I will go for the others in this order:

    Caeda>Cordelia>Charlotte

Never seen much of Charlotte, so hence the order. Caeda completely looks as another blue haired waifu if it wasn't for the different artist and the fact that you knew it was her.

(noted something about Lyn being tsundere in this dress, but stand corrected by Ice Dragon lel)

Alm doesn't act like Walhart even when Celica isn't around.

The thing is that Alm is somewhat fine during the story until he defeats Rudolf and learns of his origin. The feeling of being lied to in addition to the fact that he killed his very own father is devastating. If Celica wasn't there for him, being the sole king of an entire continent would be difficult knowing the things that he went through before.

Celica dying to Falchion and not being saved by Mila could trigger this route.

  6. Back to my days in Tower of Saviors, what they used to do is the following (not sure since I did not touch that game for years):

    - One diamond per day (5 diamonds to pull for diamond seal, from gold->platinum->perhaps rainbow best rarity card?)
        - Story divided in chapters and parts, one diamond for clearing the entire chapter.
    - Enough friend points for the friend seal (200 minimun daily, +5 or +10 if used a random or a friend as a helper, only up to gold in rare cases)

I would eventually fall into the routine of logging in only for the daily diamond since not having a good team = get stuck in the story

    -----------

Here, in Fire Emblem Heroes, I would not mind having this kind of thing since this game makes every unit viable at some level, being able to work around them (of course some units perform better than others)

In TOS there is more diversity and of course more team comps than this game, but overpowered teams from diamond pulls reign supreme that some missions are literally impossible (for example having to one shot a monster who will one shot you right at the next turn, dealing 999999 damage on purpose and damage reduction skills not saving you)
Go full Bad Luck Brian on diamond pulls and you'll probably quit the game in no less than a month.

  7. I have watched the whole story of Echoes (not having money for a 3DS + the game sucks), and I found myself with this question:

    Spoiler

What if Celica was non-existent or died midway in the story, would have Alm ended up like Walhart in Awakening after finishing Duma?

The reason I ask this is because of a particular CGI at the end of Chapter 4. The shadowed face of Alm's angered face with glowing eyes reminds me of the colours also used for showing Rigel at the beginning. #mylifewasalie

As the epilogue implies, Celica is there to help him rule the kingdom, and personal issues he gets after the war.

When the enemy is so absurdly strong that the only way you can win si through spamming DEATH until it takes effect

Literally what I'm doing with Vanille in Gran Pulse, but because I choose to farm Adamantoises for the CP and Gil (maxing out Crystarium before 1st game completetion, FFXIII)

The absurd difficulty difference between enemies is something that I can relate to. This was the exact reason I stopped playing Tower of Saviors.
(Had hit that particular wall where you could only advance on the story with ridiculous overpowered units and extensive grinding was not enough, the time spent on that eventually bored me)

Persona and some SMT games do that quite a lot, same for FFXIII. When the leader dies, it's an instant game over. How nonsense is that, do the rest of the party just fuck off and dies?

Noticed that a lot while fighting the Manasvin Warmech at Lake Bresha (few tries, got always killed by that AOE attack). It's funny how Lightning dies while the rest are like "fuck this, we might as well surrender too"

    1. Go play a moba and you'll understand what a "toxic community" truly is.

    2. People in the internet like to just loosely toss around terms that become popular, some because they feel like they're smarter or more sophisticated for doing so or some other stupid reasons.

"Toxic community" should be use to defined a community that more frequently than not, you'll encounter people just full of hatred who have shoved the term "Self-Improvement" into the void and moved "It's everybody's else fault" into the front of their mindset. MOBA communities tend to be the most toxic because there's just flat out bigotry and racism in these. It is only in this type of game where I've heard people verbally assault someone in a game so fucking much that I wished I could just physically hurt them and destroy their sense of "no consequences" built up from anonymity.

The only thing "toxic" about THIS community is the obsession with pairings/ships.

    *cough*League of Legends*cough*

I have never been invested into a community enough to tell if they're toxic or not, except the one mentioned above.

You can resume that community with: Below my league are noobs, BM for most things and Champion Mastery spam for everything they do.

Getting back to Fire Emblem, I can see that couple wars are an issue, but that's also seen in other places (Anime for example)

  10. A game that is currently in the works. Not exactly the entirety of my intended project but rather a simplified build for a game competition arranged by my university (I'm currently studying Information Engineering)

This is not a hack, but rather built from beginning to end.

It is a Arena based combat system. The following lists all my interactions and most likely objectives (tried to format, comments being in italic, subject to changes):

    Spoiler
    • Arena based Combat (you can imagine the graphics as something similar to Hearthstone, cards attacking each other)
      • Attacking rules are the same, with bows and tomes attacking at preferred range (tomes can attack at melee range if desired, and perhaps make archers behave similarly to Gaiden)
    • Player Active Team is of five members, and number of enemies are divided by certain rules.
      • Battles are played in rounds.
      • Rule of Enemy Appearance: Units have a "size value" which dictates how many can appear on the screen at a time.
        • Infantry have a size of 1, Cavalry and flyers have a size of 2, and Armored have a size of 2 or 3 (Knights and Generals respectively).
        • They can appear in combinations too such as 2 infantry + 1 cavalry, 4 infantry, 1 knight + 2 infantry, etc.
        • Enemy bosses will appear alone at the last round, but can be sometimes accompanied by lesser enemies.
        • This is taken into account when rebalancing units (although stats are based on FE7 classes).
    • If a unit is defeated, the slot is closed for the remainder of the battle (This build will have only five playable characters, the team being complete at beginning of Chapter 2).
      • If the leader (the Avatar, default name "Eli") falls in battle, it is an automatic Game Over.
      • Upon beating a round, all living team members are healed by a small amount.
    • Recruitments only occur at the beginning of the chapter before battle and are forced.
    • The story starts out similar to Re:Zero with the Avatar being teleported to a field with no idea how to go back. After defending a group of nearby villagers from bandits with the help of Masashi (definitely not inserting myself into the story...), a myrmidon who is also on the same situation as the Avatar and has been there for years, they decide to work together in order to find a way home. (the Avatar takes the direction of the group)
      • Eli's gender can be defined by the player (stats differ slightly on gender).
      • Playable up to four Chapters only.

This is basically what I intend to present. I posted it here so as to ask for opinion about this, and whether should I reconsider about anything here.

    Any opinion is appreciated!

  11. Posting it here since I created a different thread without finding this one before.

Swordbreaker Alfonse. What's your opinion about this build?

    Alfonse - 5* Level 40

    43 HP / 43 ATK / 20 SPD / 32 DEF / 22 RES

    W - Brave Sword+
AS - Reposition (Thought of Pivot, but well)
WS - Moonbow (Had Draconic Aura first, wanted him to hit tanks hard too)
    A - Death Blow 3
    B - Swordbreaker 3
C - Spur ATK 2 (Might replace it for Threaten DEF 3)

Pros: ORKO on any sword unit, most green and colorless units (Takumi included)
Cons: Ultra weak on lance users (Sapphire Lance lel) and mages in general (they get to you first, but die on the contrary case)
              M!Robin is still too tanky

  12. Title says it all. What's your opinion about this build?

    43 HP / 43 ATK / 20 SPD / 32 DEF / 22 RES

    W - Brave Sword+

  13. If Moulder turned out bad, then I would go with Natasha, but you should be okay

My question is, why'd you make Ewan a Mage? Do you just prefer Mages to Shamans?

According to the wiki, both classes are fine for Ewan's growths. Never thought of having a druid, since I thought at first of having only Knoll as the single dark magic user.

I thought of making the opposite of every selection (except some) of promotions when playing Ephraim's route, so I'll try out Shaman/Druid Ewan.

  14. Ahhh, in that case, I'd just stick with Moulder, and bring in Saleh as a secondary Staff-user. L'Arachel also still has a niche as a mounted healer, too, which could be useful. Just take extra care to keep her safe if she's still so low-leveled.

Incidentally, where are Artur, Lute, Ewan, and Knoll, promotion-wise? Any of them could help out with Staff duty, too, if they've made it to second tier.

Lute is a fresh mage knight (I think she could have probably worked better as a sage), recently promoted Ewan into a Sage and the rest are still in their tier 1 class. (Artur at LV 12, Knoll at LV 10)

While favouring movement, sometimes raw power is better in some chapters.

  15. If you've made it that far, I'm assuming you've been using other characters for healing, in which case there isn't really any reason to bring Natasha up to speed, since there's really nothing important she can do that others can't.

It'd be helpful to know who you already have on Staff duty, (and if anybody is dead) although it probably doesn't really change things much.

The thing is that I used to switch between Moulder, L'Arachel and Natasha (would bring two of the three in apparently difficult chapters)

Most leveled up staff user is Moulder, being a LV 16 Priest with A rank on staffs. L'Arachel was left at the same level as Natasha, not promoted yet.

  16. Current chapter - 17.River of Regrets

Main Lord - Eirika (Great Lord LV.13)

For some reason I ended up ignoring Natasha (only used her for getting Joshua) and now she is only a lvl 5 cleric.

Does Natasha have any useful purpose, or should I go for other healers?

    Current stats

    LV 5 - Exp 88

    HP 20/20

    Mag 4 --- Move 5

    Skill 5 --- Con 4

    Spd 9 --- Aid 3

    Luck 9 --- Def 2

    Res 8

Extra info - I have been abusing the Tower of Valni for solo/duo level up runs.

  17. This topic has grown to a nice size, I like it.

Anyways, got another promotion variations to post today :V

Promotes from: Knights & Mercenary (only second variation)

1st Variation - Goliath (Feel free to suggest another name... oh well.)

    Description

Sluggish, heavy armoured knights that have the most of defenses.

    Class specifics/Opinions

Reinforced Armour - Takes 25% less damage from weapons that are not armour specialized.

Devastating Blow - Skill/4% chance to stun the opponent until next phase.

The Fortress - Stays in place, taking 50% reduced damage until dropping down to 30% health or cancelled early. Will take any ranged attack targeted at any ally behind. (talking of behind, the Goliath must be between the ally and the attacker for the absorption effect to take place)

Even slower than the current General class, the Goliath is solely dedicated to soak damage, with a little bit of crowd control effect to offer.

While it is capable of holding on its own on closed spaces, effectiveness is severely reduced in open areas.

2nd Variation - Sentinel (Mercenaries can promote to this)

    Description

Sentinels sacrifice a portion of their defenses to become mobile, supporting units.

    Class Specifics/Opinions

Their movement is a bit worse than heroes.

Guardian Shield - Chooses an ally to protect. Target ally within a 3-tile radius benefits from extra defense and resistance (gets weaker when getting away from the Sentinel), and periodically blocks attacks (takes 50% damage from critical strikes). Scales with level. Choosing can occur again after two turns.

Interception Charge (requires Guardian Shield ally within 5-tile radius) - If ally to protect is attacked, rush foward and force the attacker to initiate battle with you. Can only occur once per enemy phase.

Strong Bonds - Guardian Shield and Interception Charge will generate charges per performed action while near each other (half charge from each). At 3 charges, both you and protected ally with gain a damage boost, can reach the other on the map and both Guardian Shield and Interception Charge have boosted effects (will block more frecuently, 25% damage from critical strikes, Interception Charge can occur up to three times per enemy phase.). Lasts the current turn and has a two turn cooldown.

Dedicated shield to a valuable unit. Make your decision.

While weak by itself, it is strongest when paired with your protected unit.

  18. Have you ever tried to design your variations of promoting base classes and thought how they would work out?

Would they be underpowered, or broken if used? Let's share our classes in this topic! Also, feel free to state opinions for other people's classes.

(Sorry for wall of organized text)

    ----- My Classes -----

    Promotes from - Myrmidon

First Variation - Swordmaster (would replace current version of swordmasters)

    Description

Speed oriented fighters that wield dual blades for extreme offense.

Have inmense speed growth, but HP and general defenses growth lowered by a lot.

(Great damage output based on speed and avoid-tanking, but can die in a single round if hit)

    Class Specifics/Opinions

Can dual wield off-hand swords (tend to wield light swords - off-hand swords give +50% might but their weight is not ignored)

Every attack instance strikes twice (each strike can hit or miss on its own, up two 8 strikes with dual brave swords)

Skills are indirectly strengthened because of the above (e.g.: Astra will hit up to 40 times, but resulting in 250% total damage output instead of every attack at half damage for balancing)

Compared to the current swordmaster, has less hp and defenses but is faster and always hits twice.

    Second Variation - Samurai

    Description

Accurate fighters that strike hard and precise.

Speed stat limited on purpose, has high HP, skill and defenses growth.

(Can act as a lesser version of the General, though I think this class will surpass them in utility)

    Class Specifics/Opinions

Speed is limited to a certain limit raised by level, exceeding speed is converted to skill (this is marked as bonus stat, does not affect towards normal growth cap).

Critical strike chance is raised to 150%, but deal x2.5 damage.

Counter (class specific) - (low to medium chance of activation upon being hit) Return the next incoming damage back to the attacker.

Though they can tank and return full damage without being hurt, they are slow and expected to be doubled most of the time.
