Oh yeah, let me add that to the original post. All PRF weapons (Including the holy swords) now belong to the unit who replaced them. So Juni can use Holmes' holy sword, Tia can use Runan's holy sword, etc.

Oh no, Yuni replacing Holmes scares me to the point that I almost don't want to play this...

There are a also a few unique situations regarding PRFs:

    • Alicia and Meriel swap places, so Alicia gets a thunder magic version of Starlight (called Starstorm lol) and Meriel gets Dire Light (Which replaces Dire Thunder). Alicia also gets Aura rain, but that is still light magic, so you will have to promote Alicia if you want to be able to use Aura rain.
    • Esther replaces Rishel, so she gets the Sunspear, which is a 1-3 range spear that replaces Sunflame.

Rishel and especially Alicia (Brenthunder + Flurry LOL OK BYE) were two of the most blatantly OP units in the OG Game, wonder how they and their replacements will play out in this one.

Anyways, thanks for giving me a reason to get back into this game. Appreciate it! :)

EDIT: Oh man, Tia, Sennet and Alfred in the starting party? Amazing. And Verna is just OP LOL

  2. Dear Nintendo,

I won't spend a penny on this godforsaken game (as much as I want to) until the pricing imbalance is fixed.
When will you realize that 80 DOLLARS ARE NOT 80 EUROS for fuck's sake!

This was probably dicussed a lot, but in case you didn't know, the average European citizen pays 15 Dollars more for 140 Orbs than an American does, which is ridiculous, not in my opionion but for a fact.
I don't know what is going through their heads, but this seriuously needs fixing. Until this does't change, I and many other Europeas will not pay for this game.
It's just bullshit. I could go buy something for 65 Dollars and then burn the remaining 15 to ash. The result is the same.

Is there any reasonable explanation for that pricing? If there is, please enlighten me.

  3. There's not much to be said and there's nothing with which any sort of (programming) knowledgde would help regarding FE 11 hacking unfortunately.

Text Editing was documented by Blazer in his Nightmare Modules and it is fairly straightforward. Reading the doc should do the job. You can change BGs, Portraits and well... the text.
Eventing, as in fully customizing cutscenes, on the other hand is not possible with what we know. You can customize the gamplay (Enemy/Player Units, Items etc.) though.

You can find the basic FE11 stuff on Blazer's Website. It comes with the basic Modules and Documentation.
Some Modules are missing or incomplete, so I'd suggest you look in the resource thread here on SF for more Modules.

ALSO! In the Doc he tells you to use "Nintenlord's Compressor" for decompressing the files... DON'T DO IT. Thanks to General Horace we now know to use Batch LZ77. It does basically the same (that applies for the Unit Disposition Files, the other files can be compressed/decompressed with Nintenlord's Tool as well).

  4. I attempted to create some unique Skill Activation Animations for the Custom FE8 skill system, which so far only has one for all skills.

Basically what I did (so far) was recoloring other FE GBA spells and throwing them togehter into one script. I've included everything in the download, so you can easily change something if you want to.
I created them with Circles's Skill Animation Creator, and all you have to do is change the ORG$ in the .event file and then assembe it to your ROM.

So far, animations for Astra, Sol, Lethality were created (there's also a beta Adept animation (sort of) which I will redo someday).

EDIT: I will also link posts of other people's animation here, just because why not?

  5. Maybe they'll stick to canon pairs in FE history. It is highly unlikely to see entirely new characters coming in as seasonals (maybe they won't have Valentine's Day outfits, but only the "live theme") ,but I could imagine them adding Louise/Pent, Anna/Jake, Harken/Isadora, Yuno/Zealot, Quan/Ethlyn, Callil/Largo... Man, there are so many options, but I guess it's coming down to something disappointing like Chrom/Robin and Corrin/Azura... Or maybe they'll throw in a Camilla instead.

Actually, I think the possibility of seasonal Sigurd/Deirdre is quite high. Or Alm/Celica... Or even Marth/Shiida, Clive/Mathilda, Boey/Mae... Looks like this time we have a chance of getting NEW and REFRESHING characters in a seasonal banner

  6. Using fire magic is essentiall like wielding a sword. 1v1. Oil and Fire is more the "kill them all in one swift sweep" kind of thing.
Comparing that to our time, the Fire Magic is maybe equivalent to stabbing someone with a knife or shooting them, while a method like Oil and Fire would be aquivalent to usage of bombs or chemical weaponry. You can probably see the difference.
I think Sanaki was pointing out the ruthlesness of Daein by resorting to such "unfair"/"dirty" or immoral tatics.

  7. Eirika having Gleipnir makes me believe they'll give Knoll a basic red tome (Fenrir+), but his assis skill will probably be Summon or something like that, since that's bascially his selling point in FE8 and noone else can do that (yes, I'm aware of the fact that Ewan can become a Summoner, but his "canon" path is Sage probably).
Summoning 1HP distractions would most likely be absolutely OP, but I hope that's what they have in store for Knoll.

  8. So I replayed FE8 recently and it seenms I really undervalued Garcia. He's amazing in the earlygame, both tanky and hard-hitting + a prettty accurate 1-2 axe weapon (hatchet). He can hold his own up until CH 8, and after Gerik joins he is eaaenstially a worse version of him, but still good at what he does. I moved Garcia up a whole tier. I moved Forde down a little since his stats really aren't good and using 5x to give Kyle some levels usually turns out to be the better choice... Nontheless, Forde can be almost as good, but I don't think he deserves to be on the same spot as Kyle.

  9. Here's one for Saleh:tumblr_p0mijfsypu1wby3bpo2_500.png.c268d28b4985d5cafce84e8b5f45bbd2.png

  10. The map was really hard and it took my more than a few tries, but I managed to beat Infernal by putting my Spring Xander on the rightmost defense tile and letting him slowly take down the fliers, while on the left, Tiki (Y) (placed on the bottom left defense tile) was taking care of the Armor Knight with support from Merric and Priscilla.
    Tiki (Y) (+Def/-Spd): W: Flametongue+; S: Bonfire +Def/-Spd A: Defense +2; B: Brash Assault 2 SS: Close Def 2
Merric (+Def/-Res)(+2)(Summoner Support): W: Dark Excalibur; As: Resposition; S: Moonbow; A: Close Counter; B: Quick Riposte 2; C: Threaten Res 3; SS: Distant Def 3
    Priscilla (+Res/-HP):
    W: Panic+ (Dazzling Staff 3); As: Rehabilitate+; S: Imbue; A: Speed +3; B: Wrathful Staff 3; C: Hone Cavalry
    Spring!Xander (+Def/-Spd): W: Carrot Lance (Def +4); As: Swap; S: Bonfire; A: Fortress Defense 3; B:Seal Atk 2; C: Defense Ploy 2

  11. So I've decided to make some small changes here and there based on the comments:

    • Swapped Neimi (E to D) and Ewan (D to E). Reason: Neimi can chip in earlygame, help break down walls etc. Ewan does none of these things.
    • Separated Cormag and Innes for the route split
    • Moved Duessel (Ephraim) down from A to B, and Duessel (Eirika) from B to C
    • Made some changes within the tiers, such as Ross, Lute and Gilliam (I couldn't justify raising/dropping these unit a whole tier, even if they are a bit more useful than initially assumed)
  12. I could list one thousand, but I'll go with just two...

Hades's Heart aka retarded Bomberman - Kid Icarus Uprising:
I'm sure everyone who has played this game know how big of a bullshit this fight is. The idea is amzing, havin a 3D bomerman-esque fight, but man this boss... It's so random, and then there are two of them, then he's invinible and the the other explodes and then theres the mine... you can't react to all of this... Jesus... An Honorable Mention from Uprising is the ResetBombGenerator. Also retarded.

Lazm - Treasure of the Rudras:
Compared to Riaz's and Sion's story, Surelnt's scenario had either the hardest bosses, or the easiest. Ironically, Lazm is both. I've seen people kill hin in 2 turns... But... So here's the problem: He uses thunder and wind attacks/mantras, so for defense it's best to go neutral to not get fucked over by the other element. I had items boosting wind defense on almost everyone, except Surlent himself. And the first half was pretty ok, but the he pulled out his super ultra nuke: ラズムサンダー! ...aka Lazm Thunder. Not only is it strong as hell, but it hit your whole party AND it's thunder type. On top of THAT, at that point I didn't know that you could change your characters position in battle between front and back, and all of them were in front and took more damage than they had to...
At first I tried randomly creating new mantras, i came up with some OP Light Mantras like STELLASTAR and others like KIONSOANE, but ultimately i had to look up new Mantras on the internet, and I enscribed some retarded wind mantras, GRANKIULUSNA or somehow like that. It was OP as hell until I later, gain randomly, enscribed a ridisculously dumb Light Mantra (thos are OP, srs). The Final Boss had a similarly overpowered move like Lazm's Lazm Thunder, called Flow, but I found it less annoying and broken than Lazm's attack.

Anyways, yeah, those are the first that come to my mind when I think about bosses i hate.

  13. There's a palette error with the enemy Adventurers. This one's from Raven's Tale.

Also, Priscilla X Guy Talk Conversation gives you this:

Sain and Erk's death quotes conversation play a tlk convo between Rebecca and Dart I think.

The village which gives you the Pugilist does not close after visiting with Shen, so at the end of pt. 1 I had this:

The armory in Raven's Tale pt. 2 does not work and after killing Arcard, the games loops he same events over and over again.

  14. In Karel`s tale, the last coversation between Kaherdin and Karel is not displayed correcty. Instead, a Support Convo between Canas and Vaida is shown.

    • It's super easy to create new Reclass sets. I set Thief, Ballistician, and Soldier to Reclass Set 0x07 and it works perfectly fine

It is kind of new since it was never really documented, but someone who's familiar with hacking will probably know of it. Also, if it's just a byte that determines somethig you can usualy modfiy it by adding already discovered bytes together ot expanding the list, as you did with the reclass sets, which only goes up to 0x06 IIRC. Still, this should be included in the editor. Thanks for discovering it.

    And, I've actually made a few discoveries! I don't know if they're new, but…

    • The two-digit value labeled "Unknown" in the Character Editor Module that ranges from 00 to 0A is hair color! The hair colors each value corresponds to are as follows:
      • 00 - Blue
      • 01 - Green
      • 02 - Pink (Blue on male units)
      • 03 - Gray (Blue on female units)
      • 04 - Red
      • 05 - Purple
      • 06 - Brown
      • 07 - Blonde
      • 08 - unknown
      • 09 - unknown; seems to be used by all bosses
      • 0A - Bald (Blue hair on female units)
    • Marth, Julian, Rickard, Bantu, Jake, Beck, Xane, Tiki, and Nagi are all assigned hair color values matching their appearances, despite that that can never be seen because none of their classes have variable hair color implemented.
…Actually, Freelancer/Chameleon and female Manakete might; I actually didn't test that, but none of the other classes have the character's hair visible at all in their battle sprite aside from Lord, which I know for a fact does not support changing hair colors (unless somebody would like to prove me wrong on that).

Curiously, Purple and Blonde hair for female characters seem to be fully-implemented and working just fine in Shadow Dragon, despite that neither hair color is ever actually used by a female character in that game. Now that I think about it, it's probably a relic of Avatar creation having originally been planned to debut in Shadow Dragon… or perhaps they had planned at one point to make a Mystery of the Emblem remake that contained all the content on that game's original SNES cartridge? I'm not really sure, but I'd wager it's probably the former.

Now that is interesting. Always wondered how that was determined, but I never saw this documented anywhere. I wonder what else there is in the character editor that we don't know...

  16. So after reading through all this I did some changes:

    • Colm up to C. Honestly, I didn't know what I was thinking when putting him on the same place as Rennac.
    • Ewan down to D. He's a mage and thus can be level up easier than Amelia. Plus, he get's summons/horse (eventually), so he is automatically better than Amelia (who can get a horse too, but leveling her up is awful, and you already have like 4 mounts.
    • Tana and Cormag up to A. Reasons were already provided. More MOV + Cant + Flier. Condidered reanking Cormang separately for Ephraim and Eirika, but it would probably be the same tier anyways, just a few ranks apart, so I decided against it.
    • Myrrh up to C. She's basically a god. A god with 50 uses.
    • Made some switches within tiers.

And most importantly... I fixed the Eirika spelling. Erika, Eirikia and Erikia are now all Eirika.

Some other things I'd like to say:

    • Imo, Gerik is a lot better than Garcia. Garcia does a little here and there in ealygame, and he's a passable unit overall. But his stats as a 20/1 hero are still  worse than Geriks stats as a 10/1 Hero (bar strength). Also, if you want him to, Gerik can get a mount. Garcia cannot.
Joshua is locked to swords and thus 1 range. His promotion gives him +15 crit, and that's all. Even Eirika is better than that. She at least gets a mount and 1 MOV more. Gerik can get any of those: Axes and 1-2 range as a hero, or a mount and 1/2 range with bows or swords. +15 crit is not good enough to make up for it. Joshua is a decent unit, but Gerik is both stronger and more flexible. (The only things a, say, 16/1 Swordmaster Joshua has over a 10/1 Hero Gerik are better skill and speed and +15 crit. At the expense of 1-2 range, better strength, def and res. And Gerik will double almost anything regardless of a few speed points. For me, it's not rewarding enough to train joshua. Trained up, he sure is good, and he can do a lot of stuff, but gerik can do more, without any training.)
    • For me, Franz and Vasessa are probably the same in terms of usefulness, but I just find that the importance of good combat should not be overlooked. Vanessa certainly doesn't suck, but she has difficulties, such as her low CON, which really hampers her damage output and use of the Javelin (though once she gets some speed that problem is not that significant anymore). But she's still frail and while her utility is obviosly her main selling point, combat is still more imortant that utility. Additionally, there are some chapter in whic Vanessa can't contribute at all, mainly indoor chapters such as Ch3 and Ch8. But she is amazing regardless.
  17. 1 hour ago, Kazuya said:

I disagree with Ewan's placement but Amelia is the worst, so I can't complain.

The main reason I placed him so low is because I felt like he would never catch up with the other units. But thinking back... In Eirika's Chapter you can easily grind him on the stationary Bonewalker and on Ephraim's route there is the arena. And I guess since he's 1-2 Range that would make him easier to train than Amelia... He should probably go up a bit.

  18. Tierlists can be a really controversial thing, but I just felt like sharing my opinion on this game's ranking and discussing it.
I'll be assuming that Seth is not being (ab)used and grinding is not allowed.

    Tier Explanations:

    Spoiler

Lord Tier: You have to bring him/her. They will always contribute, in one way or another. Even if it's just a little. Ranking them makes little sense.
Seth Tier: Units that completely break the game. They're OP and can do everything. Using them renders the whole cast redundant. If they're not banned from use, they'll function as the main Lord.
S-Tier: Units that contribute immediately and effectively upon joining. They have amazing availability, combat performance and/or utility. There are no reasons not to deploy these units.
A-Tier: Units that contribute a lot in the course of the game. Some investment may be required, but it's easy to do and the reward will be worth it.They have outstanding availability, combat performance and/or utility. There are hardly any reasons not to deploy these units.
B-Tier: Units that can contribute well, but they either require some investment in order to do so or join later in game. They have some weaknesses, but their strenghts outmatch them. Deploying these is generally speaking a good decision.
C-Tier: Units than can contribute decently, but are hindered by either their jointime, combat performance and/or utility. Deploying these units can be useful depending on the situation.
D-Tier: Units that can provide decent utility and/or fill a niche. They have huge negatives that hinder them from being effective, but they can pull off their job just fine. If you need a niche-filler you can consider deploying these.
E-Tier: Units that can't contribute to anything meaningfull at all, except if major investment is put into them. They will usually be a hindrance, and raising them is extremely difficult or not rewarding. They have absolutely no utility and they are outclassed by other units. There are PLENTY of reasons not to deploy these.

The names inside the () indicates the Road Taken by the player.
The Units are ranked within the seperate tiers... kind of.

    Lord Tier:
    Eirika (Eirika)
    Ephraim (Ephraim)

    Seth Tier:
    Seth

    S-Tier:
    Franz
    Vanessa

    Moulder
    Gerik
    Cormag (Ephraim)

    Ewan
    Marisa
    Amelia

    Reasoning:

    Spoiler

    S-Tier

Franz: He is a cavalier that joins in Ch 1. His stats are well rounded, with a bit more emphasis on offense. He is a competent combat unit, and one of your most valueable ones for the earlygame. After promotion he becomes even better. I don't think I have to explain why paladins are amazing. He's there from start to end and he's amazing throughout.
Vanessa: Flier joining in Ch 2. The earlygame of FE8 are mostly wide outdoor-maps, so you'll always want to have her, whether it's for tradechains, rescuechains, saving villages, saving NPCs, ferrying units or for combat. Her attack and defense are not impressive, but she basically doubles anything.
    Tethys: Dancer.
Saleh (Eirika): Joining in Ch 12, right at the mid of the game, he's your Pent of FE8. "(Pent) - 3" since his bases are exactly Pent's, but -3 in every stat (except for one stat I think, but whatever). So he's a prepromoted Sage with amazing bases, good CON and good weapon ranks. Sadly, Physic is a B Staff, but the first Physic Staff comes around Ch 14, so you'll have some time to level up his Staff rank with the Barrier Staff you get in the Chapter he joins in. His combat performance is outstanding. He can do anything your other mages can at that point in the game. [I originally intended him to be in Tier A, but I chose to move him up to "low" S-Tier]

    A-Tier

Arthur: He's a pretty god Light mage from the start. He can easily keep up with the rest and once he promotes he gets Slayer and also a pretty handy C-Rank in staves. Together with Moulder, he's one of top contendors for the first Guiding Ring.
Gerik: His base stats are absolutely amazing, and he even brings his own Hero Crest. You can either feed him some Levels or just promote him instantly. Both promotion are good in their own way. Ranger gives him 7 MOV and a horse, while Hero gives him access to 1-2 range via hand axe. Outstanding unit that requires 0 investment.
Moulder: Starting as a healer, his comabt performance is noneistant. He is your only healer for a few chapter, and even once Natasha joins, he'll be in a better position than her due to his better bulk and magic. Once he promotes he gets Slayer and D in Light, which allows him to use Shine times from the get-go. He's one of the best candidates for the first Guiding Ring, but Arthur is usually the preferred choice.
Cormag (Ephraim): He joins a lot earlier in Ephraim's route, which gives him more chapters to do stuff and more EXP to gain. His combat perfomance is a lot better than Tana's, although his untility is a little worse due to his CON. Just as Gerik, he already has his promotion item in the inventory. He'll only need one Level to promote, which is fairly easy gained.

    **will be done eventually**

  19. The only viable choice for Amelia is Paladin. If you go General, then you can probably immediately bench her as she won't see any combat at all due to 5 MOV. Yes, you can use the Boots, but why not use the Boots on a Paladin Amelia instead, giving her 10 MOV so she is more mobile. Mounted units get so much more out of 2 MOV, and don't even get me started on Canto.
And regarding Caps, you'll never hit them. Unless you grind A LOT after finishing the game. It doesn't matter that the General has 4 more STR, a few mor SKL and 5 more DEF.
Access to Axes can be usful, if your that desperate for Hand Axes.

Sure, variety can be fun and I personally like it too, but NOT if the alternatives to an amazing class (Paladin) are underwhelming (Great Knight) or downright awful (General).
    I'd always say go Recruit>Cavalier>Paladin.
