What should a Binding Blade remake do with Merlinus?
Finian replied to Silent Mercenary's topic in Fire Emblem: Binding Blade
You don't need to deploy Merlinus to send items that don't fit in your inventory to the convoy. You only need to deploy him to access the convoy during battles. -

Updated Translation Patch/Project Thread
Finian replied to Captain Karnage's topic in NES and SNES Era
Are there any plans to update this topic? The Thracia translation patch link has been broken for some time now. -
Support conversations don't really stick with me for very long, so I don't think I can pick a favorite. With that said, I just got Kent and Sain's B support in my current playthrough of FE7, and that may have been my favorite so far in that game. It's not super deep or anything, but I think Kent and Sain's interactions are one of the most entertaining parts of Blazing Sword. I get the sense that Sain's comments on Lyn's beauty and kindness actually come from a genuine place. Even still, he stays true to his character, mocking Kent and basically just acting like an ass about his "vast library of experience with women." I just really appreciated this support since Kent and Sain really take a back seat in Eliwood's story, and this interaction is a nice callback to their interactions during Lyn's tale.

What is your unpopular Fire Emblem opinion?
Finian replied to BlackSymphony's topic in General Fire Emblem
If you never bothered to understand it, how can you be so sure it was a bad system? I thought Con was a great idea; it only makes sense that a huge knight in armor can more effectively wield a heavy lance than a skinny Pegasus Knight. -
Thabes Labyrinth - Stupidly Broken?
Finian replied to Leonarth's topic in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
I'm sorry, but it's just a pet peeve of mine when people misuse "penultimate." The word means "second-to-last." "Ultimate" means final. Thabes labyrinth is the *ultimate* dungeon. -
Should there be an Avatar?
Finian replied to dragonlordsd's topic in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
Part of the reason I'm not a fan of the Avatar as a main character is that I don't like customizing and naming my own character and then having their personality completely out of my hands. I like the idea of an Avatar as a villager whose base stats and growths can be influenced by the player, but who is otherwise a silent side character. The avatar doesn't need to be special. -
Should there be an Avatar?
Finian replied to dragonlordsd's topic in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
I think Robin being you know who works in the context of Awakening's story, but as a personal preference I wouldn't want another avatar being as important to the plot, especially after Corrin. -
If by "mature content" you mean deeper plots with more politics and nuanced characters than 100% yes. If you mean more tits and ass and other stuff that middle school boys consider "mature" than 100% no.

Should there be an Avatar?
Finian replied to dragonlordsd's topic in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
Oh, okay. Got it. -
I like the 3DS games, especially Conquest, but I hope they try something new. I'm fairly confident this will happen, as Nintendo has historically tried new things on each new console with pretty much all of their series. I'm sure the new game will keep elements of the 3DS games, but I hope they change it up a lot. For one, I'd love is pair-up were removed. As they said in the Echoes trailer, "such pillars of modern warfare... have no place on the battlefield." But in addition to removing certain 3DS features, I hope they introduce a new mechanic that we haven't seen before, like how GBA introduced supports and 3DA introduced pair-up. I love when series try something new, even if it ends up not being the best feature in the world.

Should there be an Avatar?
Finian replied to dragonlordsd's topic in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
I have to disagree with you about Robin being well executed. He was certainly better than Corrin, but that's a low bar to clear. Robin was still far too important to the main story, being G***a and all. If they do an Avatar again, they really do need to be a side character. -

Should there be an Avatar?
Finian replied to dragonlordsd's topic in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
I voted no, but I think that out of all the FE games, Gaiden is the one that could most naturally incorporate an Avatar. I like the idea of an Avatar that isn't a main character, but still has supports and is a decent unit. In Garden, we have the group of villagers you recruit at the beginning (Grey, Cliff, etc.). I think it would actually work pretty well to have one of the villagers be an Avatar character. That way, you're Avatar is there from the beginning but not particularly vital to the story. Said Avatar could have supports with the other villagers, but not with more important plot characters. I think that if an avatar were to be added, that would be the best way to go about it. -
Special Edition restock when?
Finian replied to Generic Nameless Soldier's topic in Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
To be honest, I think you may be out of luck. It's called the "Limited" edition for a reason. AFAIK, in-store pre-orders are the easiest way to get limited items like that — that's the only way I was able to pre-order my copy — but from what you've said and what people I know in real life have said, stores seem to be all out, unfortunately. The price on eBay may fall once the game is actually out, but I think you're just gonna have to wait and see.
