  1. I never knew the man or experienced anything he created, but hearing about anyone's passing -- suicide especially -- hurts. No cry for help should ever be taken for granted.

    To everyone:

If you're in a good place, please do everything in your power to contribute towards the small but significant amount of goodness that exists on the internet. Every little day-to-day interaction contributes towards our state of mind, and you never know when something you say will make a difference to someone else.

If you're in a bad place, please do everything in your power to avoid all of the negativity that dominates the internet -- even if that means going offline entirely. Find the people who make you feel like you matter, who spend time with you, who make you smile. There's no quick fix for anything you're going through, but if you can go to sleep later thinking today was pretty good, tomorrow can be too.

Does anyone have any idea for a good enemy phase archer that can counter "flier balls"?

I want one that is bulky and strong enough to one shot fliers.

For CC against physical units, the best common options are probably Jamke and Leon. Niles or Jeorge for mages obviously. Not a budget option, but I use Hinoka myself since she covers armors as well.

Considering it mostly only matters for the jump from Tier 20 to Tier 21, it doesn't seem like all that big of a deal, especially with how little Lift reduction prevention actually does compared to the Lift boost.

The 18-20 range makes up the overwhelming majority of AR players at this point. Any bone thrown to them is going to earn IS some cred with the community.

Well, a lot of these are just.. unuseable for me. What I need is an approach where the two Eirs I'm forced to use actually help since they already waste two slots.

This is probably unthinkable to a lot of people: what if you set a team or two with one Eir and 4 blessed? Dropping an Eir is scoring-wise equivalent to one death, but you might find that to be a better trade-off to using twosies against some teams.

The only other solution to two Eirs I can think of is to radically transform one of them. Give em some sort of seasonal effectiveness dagger, have one as a Res tank and one as an attacker, that sort of thing.

The amount of Aether required for battle will be capped at 50, so getting into Tier 21 should not be too hard during Light season, and it might even be possible during Astra season as well.

You're capped at 15 fights from at least T20 onwards, so 1500 max lift on Astra (except this week where it was 1900). With one Eir in a 5 day week like next week, the max is 1540.

This week had a max of 1900, so a few lucky players might actually promote.

Also, lul at that 5 day Light season. Technically I would've been able to make it to T21 in 5 days---I had 11,020 on my 5th day when I did my climb---but god damn.

If I don't make it into T21 this week (I can only lose 80 more lift between now and Wednesday), I'm definitely stuck in T20 for the next two without question since I'm part of the One Eir Club. Seems strange to me that you'd still need 1600 for T21 but the tiers after it are just 400 each.

I hate having the last day on Monday.  When it was Sunday, I could almost always find the time to do it before 5PM, but Monday, if often busy and don't get off work until later.  I can try to rush doing them between surgeries or something, but that leads to mistakes.

Oh god I just realized they're probably moving it to Wednesdays, those are even worse for me. March 10th can't come soon enough.

honestly, given dheginsea's allegiance to ashera and his moral compass being very aligned with order (he was the only laguz king to say no to the alliance and war with begnion), dark makes the least sense if you want to talk about characterisation, I think light, or anima make the most sense.

Reminder that our only light hero is affiliated with the underworld.

  9. Gonna dump all my votes into Chrom and Micaiah, I have better hopes on the latter though. Shame Camus is still split between Camus/Zeke/Sirius and Zelgius is still different from BK. Bigger shame that we're still missing those three L's from Radiant Dawn (Lekain, Levail, Ludveck).

  10. Divine Naga looks to be the better option for Julia unless you're in need of a green EP dragon counter specifically. It's completely superior on PP too.

Both Nagas: Effective against dragons, disables dragons from targetting Def/Res

Naga: Def/Res+4 while defending, Close Counter vs. dragons

Divine Naga: Nullify all enemy Hone/Fortify, disables all enemies from targetting Def/Res, Atk/Spd/Def/Res+3 when Res is 3+ over enemy's

I personally think this is actually a smarter choice as opposed to the Smash 4 way of doing things. You select a ruleset, then you pick a stage conducive to that ruleset, and then you pick a character that works with the stage. That and rules are actually saved as opposed to needing to go back into the menu to change it to stock everytime you wanted to play with stocks.

I don't own Switch Online, so I can't comment on how good it is, although I won't be buying it if the issues I keep hearing with it and with Smash's online aren't resolved.

The ruleset thing actually isn't bad for long-time fans, but newcomers are gonna want to pick characters first and sort out details later. Even as someone who knows everything I'm getting into, I like picking my character first just to set the mood. Not remembering who you picked last is pretty dumb though.

Online itself is actually decent in terms of connection, it mostly just needs some enhancements with flexibility. Arena in particular needs to allow multiple users per Switch, CPU opponents, up to four fights running at a time instead of a queue, and to stay open when the owner leaves (assign a new owner instead, duh). If you found previous games' online to be acceptable, you'll probably feel the same about Ultimate.

  12. Didn't realize how close having only one Eir (+140) would make things. Think there were around 7k people starting in T19 or so, but 3 perfect runs and -80 on defense only puts me at Rank 3,328. Meanwhile my wife's +160 team is sitting at Rank 1,407. At least getting to T20 is gonna be easy with the extra day.

The update is sometime this week, right?

  13. More of the same, basically. Plays great, has a completely fucked balance of content, online is lacking but tolerable, etc.

Yay: Overall a very excellent good:bad newcomer ratio; Stamina as a regular mode; Spirits as a far more varied handicap system than ever before; Spirit fights themselves are awesome; the addition of online rooms with strangers; new items and ATs aren't overpowered; Beedle is in the game somewhere finally.

Nay: Single player modes are still poop, particularly WoL (which strangely lacks co-op); questionable menu decisions like having to design rulesets first and not remembering previous characters; online is still barebones and full of arbitrary problems with both Quickplay and Arena; far too much focus on older stages over new ones.

My expectations for DLC are extraordinarily low given the first two they've revealed so far, but eh. It's still gonna be the game my brother and I inevitably play everytime we hang out at his house.

The attacker promptly surrendered the next turn (even though he probably could have picked my team without a terrible amount of difficulty, I guess he decided to evoke the Escape Ladder).

Had someone surrender to me last Monday just for losing one unit on turn 1 or 2 even though they were otherwise in good shape. Thought it was really early to use the Escape Ladder, but eh. People definitely overestimate the need for perfect runs even on non-Light weeks.
