    As some mention there was:

    -Mercedes

    -Hilda

    -Brown haired mage girl

-A black haired archer(not talking about Claude)

-a older guy with a mustache(I'll safely assume he'll be the Gunter/Jagen or even Nomah of the game)

    -purple hair guy

    -and a brown? haired guy

Yeah, that's what I mean! Also, Regal Edelgard Axe Master, is a really cool title!

These 4 stand out to me in the trailer(as well as Mercedes) because they are all named characters(presumably), and have unique portraits. This leads me to believe one of two things, either:
    1. We are fighting a mercenary company who we recruit when the battle concludes.
    2. This is a mock battle style mode where you split your units into two groups, with one you control and one you fight against.
I think the latter is more likely for 2 reasons. Mercedes seems to be on a different map than the others, suggesting that this happens more than once through the game, and I doubt we'll have more than one skirmish against different mercenary bands unless the party is REALLY desperate for troops. The terrain in the Mercedes shot and in the Hilda shot are pretty similar to a shot later in the trailer presumably near Edelgard's castle. This suggests to me that they are only fighting outside the castle grounds, which would explain a mock battle a lot easier, AND Edelgard does explicitly mention mock battles in the trailer's dialogue too. But eh the terrain thing might just be me trying to find an explanation.

Either explanation would work. Fighting a mercenary company to recruit characters sounds great, though mock battles sound interesting in concept. Although, would this be an alternative for gaining experience, or no? Now there's something worth discussing.

Went to their website and their portfolio page returned a 404 error. The level of professionalism.. Though, their "projects" page did work(please just settle on one, thanks CoT). Well, they did SoV and Awakening and those were pretty solid in terms of the dub quality. Still, could you please provide a source? Because I haven't heard any of this and of course, it isn't on their projects page.

    It's in the trivia section.

I think the avatar being a close mentor/teacher to the main characters is a subtle nod to the FE fanbase's passion for building units and letting them grow. I doubt Byleth will have much of a backstory and I don't think it's a good idea to let the avatar be able to romance his students, so maybe he is more of an enigma and his supports are almost entirely platonic? That'd be an interesting idea.

I agree, that would be interesting. And, yeah, it would be really weird if they could romance the students.

Its fine if you feel that way, but for others its really important. I wouldn't lose any sleep over other people's happiness.
Its true Claude's existence couldn't save a trash-fire game from being, yaknow, thrown in the trash-fire, but if his inclusion brings a smile to someone's face then I think that's at least a small victory.

Unrelated, but, where did you find this?:

This is a theory I came up after noticing a few things (and after other things were pointed out to me). Here's my evidence: (and sorry that I can't provide pictures; I'll try to give the times at which each thing appears in the trailer)

    1. right away, the name Fergus is an anglicization of the Scottish Gaelic Fearghas, which means man of vigour. Now, Fire Emblem has used plenty of names from many different parts of the world before. So, what makes this any different? That leads me to my next pieces of evidence.

    2. The swordsman about to attack the Emmeryn-Impersonator in the trailer, the one in the spiked armour, is wearing a red-and-white tartan cape. Now, a tartan cape isn't much, but it is distinct, and it is the first case (if I'm not mistaken; someone correct me if I'm wrong) of a character wearing anything tartan in an FE game, and this isn't the only case in the trailer of tartan: the charging axe warriors at around 0:54 into the trailer are each wearing a blue tartan outfit that looks suspiciously similar to a kilt.

So, why do I think this is Fergus, and not one of the other kingdoms? Well, in addition to the Scottish name, the kingdom of Fergus sits the furthest north on the map of the continent in the trailer. Typically in FE, the northernmost nations are also the coldest, and most likely to have chapters where the characters fight in ice and snow. Daein in Path of Radiance, Regna Ferox in Awakening, and the Rigelian Empire in SoV are all great examples of this. Why is this important? That swordsman with the red tartan cape, and the axe-wielding warriors in the blue tartan kilts, are also wearing fur. In FE; most notably in Echoes, fur indicates that the character hails from that cold, northern region where the heroes inevitably fight there in the winter, and these guys are the ones wearing furs. Everyone else is wearing (likely linen) cloth.

So, what do you think of my theory?

It seems like a possibility. Hopefully more information about this game comes around at some point.

The validity of one leak doesn't verify every leak associated. I wouldn't jump to any conclusions.

I agree. But, yeah, I was a little surprised to see Paladins coming to the Switch.
