  1. I usually try to one turn chapter 13, so it's not too fresh on my mind. The reason I think it's acceptable is it changed the way you played the chapter in a unique way; survive the onslaught from all sides and wait for Cormag. Or not realize Cormag shows up in that chapter and skip it like me >>
  2. When are you navigating Ephraim down unpopulated hallways in 5x? I secede your point on 7, although the counter would be the introduction of the ballista that chapter. I am not a fan of Eirika's route as I am Ephraim's, but 11 doesn't have any mountains. Do you mean 12, Saleh's chapter? The lower three rows don't need to exist, but the narrow corridor you have to traverse with those spiders coming down at you from each side. 13 never felt barren with how many enemies swarm you. 17... just needed harder enemies and not a couple dozen eggs. From what I've seen of Yooka-Laylee, it's a good game. It's major faults were it's a collect-a-thon with old style camera controls [the actual mechanic] and the framerates. It's no rebirth of a genre like Shovel Knight, but it's a step in the right direction. Echoes feels like it's gonna be much better than Yooka-Laylee too.
  3. Those two seem to be the ones most requested by people, or, if not Sacred Stones, the other two GBA. Hmmm.... In general, if any of you were lead designer on future remakes of 4-8 [since we technically do have New Mystery], how would you go about remaking them? Introduce the complex skill system of other games to the GBA titles? New classes? Any changes to the maps/story?

  5. Review scores are sometimes the best we have. Case in your favor would probably be the negative review scores of Yooka Laylee and it's poor framerates. Those were unfair with the day one patch. Yet were the majority of Zelda and Horizon are in agreeance that they were good games. As for maps, Conquest had some bad maps. For example, chapter... 8? The ice village was unfair. Too many cheap deaths from being unable to move. Sacred Stones, however... Outside of Ephraim desert, quality design looking back.
  6. True, but Shadow Dragon is a medieval setting, see castles and armor. Awakening is thousands of years after.
  7. Really? Well, if that's the case it's simultaneously obvious and sad. Obvious that it could get confusing as a subseries, sad that it would be kinda cool to give these "echoes of the past" some love. Speaking of past, why is Awakening still in medieval... Never mind. Topic for another post.
  8. That's not 100% true. SoV looks like it has plenty of mapwork for modern appeal and game flow. Just look at the early snapshots of game comparison. Famitsu gave the game glowing scores, and while a couple gameplay features may be questionable choices, the game as a whole looks like a very good rework of the original. As for potential other remakes, I would love 4-6 especially to come over to the Americas. I have heard too many people praise Genealogy and not having a good way to play it is a bummer. Having Roy and Marcus with actual good growths would be nice too... And remakes of 7/8 would be a nicety, if not necessary right now. The former is the oldest western release, of course, and being able to manage Lyn's tutorial chapters would be nice. A Sacred Stones sequel would be pointless? Uhh... The potential fight over the final Stone isn't an interesting concept? And we learned too little of the countries whose names weren't Renais or Grado.
  9. It'd be impossible with RNG stats and character placement at the beginning of maps to do that for the entire game; however, I don't mind that.
  10. You will get to use him after Chapter 8; other than that, I don't think so. I personally love how well written the game is. Also hello! First post around the forums, and it's an in depth post on a hack. I'm currently on chapter 1 of Requiem, and I will applaud how intricately designed the maps are. It feels almost puzzle like with precise placements of units necessary in order to finish each chapter, and I for one am loving it. Good job hack creator on that and previously mentioned story elements. Engrossing and enjoyable while definitely requiring previous FE experience.
