Hello Friends,
I've lurked here for a good while but never posted. I thought I'd jump in and let you guys know about this thing they're doing at the Smithsonian. I did a search and nothing came up.
Anyway,The Art of Video Games will be a Smithsonian exhibit that will be on display at the museum in 2012. It's an exhibit designed to take you through the evolution of game artwork from several genres from Atari to the current generation systems. They are currently taking votes from the public for suggestions on which games to showcase, which is where you come in.
One of the games up for consideration is the Gamecube's Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. I was both surprised and excited that Fire Emblem had a shot at being represented in the prestigious Smithsonian American Art Museum. Path of Radiance is fighting for the strategy spot for the Gamecube against Pikmin 2 and Battalion Wars, so it has a good shot of making it in.
The site is a little confusing to navigate, but here are the basics: The times are divided into Eras, Eras are then divided into systems, which are further divided into genres. Each genre has three games to choose from per system per era. You have something like 80 votes so you can vote for one game in each genre per system.
Some games, specifically Nintendo games, are awaiting the final OK, but don't hesitate to vote for them. I thought if we could spread the link throughout the Fire Emblem community we could see the series take it's place among the history of video game art.
