  1. First of all, this game is not “Murphy’s Law: The Game”. RNG, especially when it comes to a dodgy/accurate unit like Ryoma, is basically always in your favor. It’s just not as much as GBA. Anyways, On Scarlet, that wasn’t really the point, although what you said hardly opposes it. I was pointing out that basically every ranged situation is advantageous to Ryoma compared to Scarlet. Ryoma can double basically every enemy with range (except maybe ninjas, but there are ways to fix that), allowing him to activate a dual guard every other enemy (assuming no crits), meaning that his durability is increased two fold, compared to say Scarlet’s 50%. It also applies to other bulky units with mediocre range, such as Oboro and Silas. On everything else: it’s quite obvious to me that you didn’t read what I said (or you didn’t care), so I’ll just quickly say - I didn’t mention evade once (although it’s hardly a point against him). Maybe talk to me again when you actually read what I said.
  2. What the heck are you talking about? Ryoma is like one of the bulkiest units in Birthright. As far as Raw durability goes 36 HP 17 Def and 14 Res is okay for a level 4 promoted unit (which is super high for his join time, which in case you forgot is basically 1/3rd of the way through the game), but his durability really shines in other areas. Against ranged enemies Ryoma is one of the bulkiest units, simply because he’s one of the few people who can double on the counter, allowing him a quick dual guard. Worst case scenario is that he crit kills a bunch of enemies immediately on counters, delaying his guard from every other enemy to once every three enemies, but that isn’t too likely and isn’t a concern at all once he gets into vantage range, where he’s basically guaranteed to block every other enemy (it’s likely more). He also is one of the units that benefits the most from a bulk pair up, as his offense is unrivaled and his defense is adequate. And if you pair him up with GK Silas he has access to Cavalier skills, letting him get a sizable boost to his offenses and defenses (+6 attack, +3 defense, +2 resistance as a Paladin). And as far as I’m concerned, he’s way bulkier than a unit like Scarlet, since in any ranged combat scenario he has a big advantage in Raijinto.
  3. Well, if it’s between Serra and Priscilla, then Priscilla is definitely far and away the better unit statistically, healing more, doing more damage, having more move, and having near identical avoid and bulk, at the same level as Serra. And it’s unlikely Serra will have gotten a noticeable level leave by the time Priscilla arrives, especially not one noticeable enough to make up for Priscilla’s horse.
  4. Alright, I admit that I made a mistake there, I meant Hyman. I assumed you were talking about Hyman, just because he was the one I found most comparable to Henning, and I didn’t bother to check. My bad, (although context should’ve told you that I messed up the names, not literally everything else, but whatever). However, I would have to disagree with you on earlygame being unfair, considering for tough chapters you have the tools to deal with them. Marcus can put in a lot of work to make Chapter 4 and 7 easier (so can Zealot for Ch. 7). And the other chapters are really not bad at all if you use Marcus. Both Ch. 4 and Ch. 7 are still tough, but you can mitigate luck by using your resources well (although I will admit that I have gotten very frustrated when I miss important attacks in those maps). But I’d hardly classify any of the rest of the early game as hard, most of them go down easily with Marcus. Anyways, on Henning, you do have other options for dealing with him, although they are less efficient.15/1 Dieck, with a killing edge and some support (I.E. other units attacking him), has roughly a 60% chance of killing Henning in 5 rounds, and a 75% chance in 7 rounds. You can also do some tricks to attack 3 times with the killing edge in a turn (a turn being player phase + enemy phase in this case). If he has his steel blade equiped, Marcus has 40% chance (true hit) to do 9 damage to him with the Silver Lance at base without fear of being doubled or crit. You have ways to mitigate the RNG w/ Henning without using Rutger, although, like I said, Rutger is obviously the best option.
  5. Oof that edge. Also post actual odds of things happening - “exaggerating” posting feelings on how viable something is “not exaggerating” You really need to stop doing this, because I’ve seen you do this in almost every thread you’re in. Alright, first of all, Gazzak is probably the best of the first three bosses in Hard 5, just because there’s a decently viable way to take him out quickly, unlike the other two. Second, Henning can definitely go down fairly quickly if you put in some actual strategy to the fight, even without a promoted Rutger. You can have two people attack w/ the same killing edge in a turn (have someone who can bait out the hand axe trade then rescue), and slowly whittle him down. Obviously this isn’t optimal, but it’s kinda hard to complain about it when the optimal strategy is always viable. Although w/ a trained Rutger (average 14/1), Henning isn’t putting up much of a fight, since in a player + enemy phase + player phase situation (w/ hand axe equipped for first player phase), Rutger has an opproximately 98% chance of killing him. I do believe that you mentioned that you have to get Lucky against bosses on thrones (specifically Henning), Mr. I’m not exaggerating? Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think Henning is good design for a boss, but he’s hardly material for the reason FE6 Hard Mode is terrible - for which he was your main cited reason, was he not? I’d hardly consider him Gazzak territory, since the most reliable strategy for him is like a 25% crit and a Devil Axe that has about a 25% chance to backfire. More to the point, don’t point to Henning to bitch about FE6’s hard mode. He’s annoying, but unless you have the 2011 mindset of never promoting early, he’s not a big deal. I will say that I have my problems w/ FE6 Hard mode, but I wouldn’t say any of it is enough to make me think it’s terrible, and even if I thought it did, I wouldn’t go out of my way to pick fights with people who like it. Which is 100% what you did.
  6. Certaintly understandable. Those bosses are some of the worst enemies I’ve ever had to face in Fire Emblem. Speaking of annoying bosses Alright man, saying that you have your reasons for being unnecessarily aggressive still does not excuse the fact that you were being unnecessarily aggressive. I don’t think anyone asked you to disagree with them, especially about their opinion. Anyways, Henning isn’t that bad, stop exaggerating. I think that Rutger could pull of being 14/1, which means he’s on average facing a 3% chance of crit, 56 hit 62 true hit w/ the steel blade (36 hit 26 true hit w/ hand axe), and survives a steel blade crit, while doing 8*2 damage (9*2 hand axe), w/ 64 hit 74 true hit (70 hit 82 true hit hand axe), and 64 crit. He will on average kill Henning in 2 rounds of combat no matter what weapon he wields (roughly 64% chance if Henning wields a steel blade for both battles, just for an idea), and can attack a third time if need be. Even if he’s 10/1 (or averaged lower than normal), he’ll on average still double Henning even w/ a hand axe, do 7*2 damage (8*2 hand axe), and, if you’re really feeling cautious, he survives a hand axe crit basically guarenteed (it’s about 4%, so it’s not exactly likely considering his hitrates). He’ll likely kill Henning in 2-3 rounds even if he’s underleveled. As for the other units, they can deal w/ Henning, but obviously they aren’t as good as Rutger, because after all, bosskilling is what Rutger is known for. Also there is no reason to use multiple question marks, like really.
  7. Favorite CQ Lunatic - it’s hard, but it’s generally fair. Most of the stuff it throws at you you have the tools to deal with SD H5 - Outside of the first 3 bosses (seriously who on earth thought they were a good idea) it’s pretty fun, Forging in this game is super nice, basically everyone is usable without statboosters (unlike it’s successor), and reclassing is a fun mechanic. I mean you can warpskip most of it but it’s not like you need to do that or anything, and a lot of the maps are pretty interesting. Least Favorite HHM - yeah I don’t like HHM. I hate the lower deployment slots, I dislike basically all the exclusive maps (2 units for a map is dumb, chapter 25 is like the easiest map in the game, Chapter 15 is just mediocre, and the Berserker map I just think is dumb), I dislike weather (it doesn’t appear often, but when it does I hate it), I dislike the quantity over quality emphasis on most maps (COD is probably the biggest offender), I dislike all the chapters that are basically down time, I’m just not a fan overall. FE9 HM - Yeah it’s a complete joke. Anyone who says Sacred stones is the easiest hard mode clearly hasn’t played FE9 english on hard mode, and from what I can tell, Maniac mode is bad in a different way - that being tedium. Is there any reason that you need to be so aggressive about someone stating their opinion? Like seriously. Anyways, I personally don’t find either of those things that bad, since Rutger doesn’t really need luck versus most bosses since he’s so accurate (that one dumb Sacae Swordmaster aside), and unit viability isn’t as bad as you’re making it out to be. I’d really only put a small amount of units in the next to useless category, it is after all, not FE12.
  8. HNM should honestly be fine. HNM is basically ENM -2 Eliwood chapters and +5 Hector chapters, with all other changes being fairly minor in comparison to HHM (biggest differences I can think of is Limstella gets Bolting and the Ch. 22 boss is in a corner).
  9. When I first played FE7 I remember following the gamefaq guides for it, and I remember thinking why the hell is Rebecca so bad? I thought she was supposed to be good. Now I have seen the light.
  10. Honestly got to disagree with you on the hero crest order, at least past Rutger/Dieck (although IMO it should be Rutger>Dieck on Hard Mode and reverse in normal mode since Dieck’s 1-2 range isn’t exactly impressive on hard mode). Everyone past those two is really mediocre-bad. Fir and Lot of the remaining 2 are probably the least bad, but Fir’s bosskilling Niche is probably already taken up, and isn’t super good for much else, and Lot’s just isn’t in a good class, although he comes early enough to help out. The other 4 are outright bad IMO, Gonzales having massive hit issues and being too fat (only 2 promoted mounted units can rescue his promoted ass, one of which is route exclusive), Geese just being weak overall (10 base strength and 9 base speed is just not good for his join time), Oujay is only usable because he comes before the isles, but his bases are still bad for his join time (He’s getting 2 shot and not doing the same in return), and of course, as you said, Wade is trash. Although somewhat ironically his stats are really similar to FE7 Bartre Midgame, with Wade having +2 HP, +1 Strength, +1 Skill, +3 Luck, -1 Defense, and -7 Resistance compared to Bartre w/ both being 20/3.
  11. Here’s a point. Probably could’ve made it on the Rebecca topic but it’s being made here. Eliwood Hard mode isn’t that hard just saying. The biggest difference between Eliwood Normal and Hard is the EXP difference IIRC. I’m fairly certain that the enemies aren’t actually buffed statwise from the normal modes. I do think they get different weapons however (cough cough horseslayer Myrmidon cough cough). And I’m aware of lower deployement slots, at least in some maps (Ch. 28 comes to mind). Other than that I don’t believe it to be that challenging.
  12. Marcus joins 6 chapters earlier and generally the rest of your team then is worse compared to Marcus than compared to Zealot when he joins. He’s still good though, probably better than Marcus when he joins, and he’s pretty cool until like Ch. 13, then the desert hits, then his stats stop being good enough. In an efficient playthrough he’s probably used until like Ch. 13, then he’s probably not getting a whole lot of screen time afterwards.
  13. Holy shit do you have no self awareness? This comparison makes Marcus look blatantly better than Kent by a long shot. The only thing Kent has over him is +1 AS with weapons w/ less than 10 weight, but considering the javelin weighs 11, I see that Marcus has +1 AS using the best weapon. And this Marcus doubles so much of Midgame that it’s laughable to call these stats bad. Not to mention the +5 strength difference - shockingly enough this does make a big difference, especially when using weaker weapons like the javelin. Anyways, you say his speed isn’t impressive, but it doubles Basically all cavaliers All pegasus/Falcoknights (except the slim lance ones, and lol at those ones) all armors Basically all magic enemies (except the Valkyries, but he’s hitting a 2HKO w/ a brave lance at base, so...) all fighters/brigands Basically all archers/Snipers (the ones that come w/ Kishuna maybe not, as well as the ones in 24W, but the rest are easy doubles) Wyverns that are weighed down (like w/ axereavers or steel lance) Can double/might be borderline doubling Nomads Wyverns that aren’t weighed down Really weighed down units that aren’t mentioned above (I.E. mercenaries, Myrmidons, Paladins, Wyvern Lords) Will probably double Marcus Swordmasters Valkyries Some bosses Something of note is that of the units that Marcus doesn’t double, quite a few are unpromoted sword users (Myrms, Mercs, thieves) which are quite awful against Marcus, most are rare as hell (Nomad troopers only appear in like 2 maps, one of which is the worse choice of a route split, Valkyries also appear in 2 maps, although you can beat one of the maps before they even show up, Warriors and Berserkers to my knowledge only appear in one map each, Wyvern Lords, Swordmasters, and Paladins I’m fairly sure number 5 or less each) and Heroes, while somewhat common, don’t exactly appear in super large numbers (it’s like 1-3 per map they show up in). All in all I don’t see how Marcus’s speed is all that bad, considering all of this
  14. Did you? Eh. Hardly matters though, since plenty of people who have completed ranked runs disagree with you. It’s not his fault you made a mistake. You know, he is doubling a good deal of them. In fact, a well leveled Marcus doubles the majority of the enemies on this list. I know since I used Marcus on the run I recorded this in.
  15. That format for the stat compilation is super good! Gets all the information needed across. Although I imagine that including Luck is a bit redundant for this game if you know what I mean.
