    Probably. Hoshido didn't:
-give psychopaths like Hans, Iago and Peri free reign
-send hordes of faceless to attack and massacre villages (like Mozu's)
-lead the other's leader into a trap under guise of peaceful discussion to assassinate him and kidnap Corrin
-subjugate a tribe and keep the leader's offspring as captives
-put down rebellions and then execute all as an example (I don't think anyone in Hoshido wanted to rebel against the leader)
-keep a member of the royal family locked up most of their life
-use said member for a suicide mission without telling them it was a suicide mission
Only thing I can think of Hoshido did that was questionable was kidnapping Azura. Even that pales in comparison to Nohr's lightest transgressions.
End of the day, you can say "Well Nohr did all that because it was Garon under Anankos control". But it doesn't excuse the countless servants "just following orders".
It's a shame. I really like a lot of the Nohrian characters. But when it comes down to the kingdom itself, they utterly failed to give it redeeming reasons for any of it's actions.
"It's always dark in Nohr and we don't have Hoshido's resources" doesn't cut it. Nohr has it's own obvious resources and industries. Trade deals could have been used instead of outright war.
    Anyway, that's just my take.

I was definitely overthinking on that one.

Hoshido is the most moral of the two. Fates barely even touches on any reason for Nohr to invade in favor of trying to make you so attached to your siblings that you forget that you were actually kidnapped and are attacking a kingdom of innocent people for basically no reason and murdering what you believe is your blood related family that just want you to come back home.

Now, that I think about it, you're right.

In my honest opinion it doesn't. The main villain has had barely any significance presence and it takes dlc to develop any form of sympathy towards them. Barely anything makes sense nor is it realistic. If I told you to trust me even though I lack any significant evidence to back my claims, would you? There's some vary rare moments that are decent but that's it. However if you like the cast then it's nice to see them band together and you have more options for pairings if that's your thing.

I guess that I shouldn't keep my expectations too high on it, then. I'm currently on chapter twenty of Conquest, so I'm gonna be starting Revelation soon.

You have to a certain mindset to enjoy Revelations, there's a reason the path gets trashed on a lot. Very gimmicky, unit balance is atrocious(without grinding almost half the cast is unusable and royals outclass everyone in their respective roles), and some maps are just a slog to get through. I for one liked my playthrough but only because I made everything a mess with the worst possible pairings and joke weapons for everyone.

Would you say that it has a good plot?

I had to fight the urge to be one of those jerks who would recommend Thracia 776. I've actually done that once to a friend and they refused to talk to me for a good while. The game is super anti-beginner. Seriously though you should be fine by trying out the gba titles especially Sacred Stones since it's very forgiving since Seth and grinding exists.

I'm working on Sacred Stones right now, but I'm putting my focus on finishing Conquest first. I don't know which to play next Revelation or continue on Sacred Stones, though. I could play Revelation while I'm on the go, or I could multitask. I don't know yet.

Other DLC can give you grinding experiences, but most will only allow you to grind supports.  Boo Camp and Ghostly Gold are the only things you can get actual money and experience out of, and even they restrict gaining one or the other (Boo Camp only gives you experience, and Ghostly Gold only gives you money).

The alternatives are chipping bosses on thrones (but this is fixed so you can't keep earning EXP from one guy perpetually, and I also don't know if there are many bosses on healing tiles to begin with), taking on the invasions, My Castle battles (I think), and actually managing your money and experience in a responsible manner and sucking up to the game's natural difficulty.

Well, I'm up for a challenge then. I'm so used to have grinding options on Birthright, but I'll get used to Conquest.

So Birthright, right. The Fates trilogy is quite different from the rest of the series in terms of gameplay, the best step after your repertoire would be any one of the GBA games. Particularly Sacred Stones if you like grinding. Sacred Stones also features branching promotions (though not as variable as Fates), assuming you're into that. How do you like it so far?

Path of Radiance is relatively flawless and the best start for beginners. Assuming you have the hardware and aren't rich, it will hurt your wallet. Even more so if you lack the former. There's hope if your computer is good enough to run Dolphin.

I take back what I said about 6-14, I do not recommend Radiant Dawn for someone who's still trying to get a feel of the series. This game has the same accessibility issues as its sibling Path of Radiance. It is ultimately your choice in the end.

And Mystery of the Emblem isn't so bad for your level either. A bit dated, but I suggest it over FE12. How do you like Echoes' mechanics? It and the original Gaiden are the black sheep of the FE family, and if you like their mechanics, Kaga era FE may be for you.

I do not recommend Genealogy of the Holy War yet, unless you like wiping out hordes of enemies effortlessly with 1-4 units. I mean, you might because that's kinda what Birthright is. The mechanics are very different from what you're used to but there's plenty of guides and people to help you if you need it.

Stay away from Thracia for now.

I'm liking Sacred Stones so far and I haven't got far since I've been rotating between Conquest and Echoes lately, which I also really like the mechanics in Echoes in. I heard from a friend that Thracia is one of the hardest FE games out there, so I'm gonna stay away from that for a while until I get more into the series.  A friend offered to lend me his copy of Path of Radiance, so I'll have that to keep in mind for now. I'm gonna try Genealogy of the Holy War for sure, but not right now since I'm having enough trouble chapter ten on Conquest as it is right now.

I think all of the ones you've played and the ones you're playing through are good for newcomers.  Some of those games might not be good for someone who has never played a FE game before, but with your experience I think they should be fine.

As an experience, FE Awakening or New Mystery were probably my favorites.  I also enjoyed Birthright the first time through.

As for other games, I'd recommend either one of the Mystery of the Emblem games or Blazing Blade.  Both are fairly classic and reasonably challenging.  And I particularly like the story in Mystery, as well as the assassins' side story in New Mystery (all the feels for Katarina and her adoptive sister).  Unfortunately, both Mystery games only ever released in Japan, so one might need to go through certain hoops to get those ones and get them in English...

Really, I don't think you can go wrong trying any of the games in the series, though you'll definitely feel a dent in your wallet if you intend to buy Path of Radiance or Radiant Dawn nowadays.  More than ten years later, and many outlets still sell them for $60 or more.

On an aside, how long have you been playing FE?  A year or two?  Just curious.

I've been playing since sometime last year. I started out with Awakening and I'm completely addicted to FE now.

I wish we had a counter for how many times this question was asked.  "Best" is subjective, my definition may not match yours.

For a new player, anything between 6-14 is good.

Which of those games did you enjoy the most? I can recommend a particular game based on what you like. There's also the matter of accessibility.

I really enjoy Fates, especially Birthright. I'm really enjoying Conquest and Echoes as well. I'm drawn to the story in Fates and in Echoes.
