  1. The world's most kawaii date ensues. They talk about their different cultures and their families, but things take a turn for the worse when it comes time to talk about Corrin. The date ends on a sour note, with both of them agreeing to bring Corrin with them so their sibling themself can settle things once and for all. Sully bumps into Kent at a meeting of the Crimson Cavalier Convention (lol, alliteration).
  2. Opinions exist. That's the entire point of this thread! I'm not going to go around asking people if they enjoy walking for 7 and a half hours because they like Genealogy while I do not. I too think Three Houses' gameplay is lackluster, but you don't have to destroy people's opinions like that.
  3. If there IS one flaw to FE3 other than it being an older, clunkier game, it's exposition. Jagen is always giving details on the situation at the start or end of battles. But hey, less main character worship than the remake (where everyone loves both Marth and Kris, the remake's avatar unit).
  4. Yep. It actually ties into a twist related to Marth's heritage.
  5. Wait, no, we've been thinking about this all wrong. I say, keep Mark, make them more customizable, I like having a personal character. Heck, give them Bioware-style dialogue options. But don't make them PLAYABLE. Between chapters, you'll be at various "base camps" that control sorta like the Monastery. However, Mark never takes the field themself. You could even build support like this. While most characters build support with each other the traditional way, Mark would build support with them based on how "well" they're used. They'd have much slower support gains than the rest, but instead, depending on who was fielded and how many of the rating benchmarks they hit, they'd build more support. For example, say you got 5* Tactics, 5* Combat, and 5* Experience on a given chapter, you'd get the maximum support gain for that map. It would scale by chapter, so a map like "Birds of a Feather" wouldn't be a lot. However, it would scale based on chapter, and maps like "Cog of Destiny" and "Victory or Death" would have massive support yields for those maps if getting three 5* ratings. You could also build support at the Base Camps, by appealing to each unit's interests: setting Sain up with Fiora, calling the third magic type "Elder" magic in front of Canas, and complimenting Guy's bladework would all build support in some way.
  6. There was no date, partially because Bernadetta was too scared to show up, and partially because Marianne was adamant that someone else go in her stead. But hey, that someone else was Claude, who got the table to himself. Huh, so I guess it's my turn now... Hm. I don't really have a huge list of ideas. Um. I just thought of a crack pairing. Some idiot (me) sets Serra up on a blind date with Gonzales.
  7. welp may as well send you two the discord link not like anyone else plans on showing up
  8. HERESY of the highest degree! Denying Classic Mode is denying Fire Emblem! Although... if you really don't like it, that's your opinion and you're entitled to it. I can't stop you.
  9. Personally? I say that just playing FE3 on its own is good enough. It's arguably my favorite of the Archanea games. Furthermore, if you decide to play Book 2, there are actually a bunch of plot elements that got axed from FE12. It's really an interesting play.
  10. well it means we might actually have a bench but what the frack, why not
  11. That... does raise a valid point. They try to make the fact that people could easily die as much of a plot point as the rest of the story. Either make it a fair deal in the narrative (like, POR-levels) or only bring it up in the tutorial.
  12. Permadeath is what makes Fire Emblem... well, Fire Emblem. I always hated how, instead of being fair, Three Houses built its entire game around abusing Divine Pulse. I guess Casual Mode is a good entry point, but it's not the full experience. Again, I have to hearken back to Chaz's video on the topic: Permadeath lost all meaning when everyone has to be built from the ground up- which, really, started around Awakening. The cast is so frontloaded that if someone dies you can't replace them easily (unless there's a paralogue somewhere you haven't played yet). I still love Awakening... but... geez, it started the unhappy trend of everyone being growth units.
  13. Well, there's two of us and I'd hate to start it now. Just giving this thing a bump so more might notice. Also, that "cosmetic edits" allowance I made can even include text. Like if you want to, you can overhaul the story so that Hector lives and stuff. But you can't bring that into gameplay; giving players a level 20 general on Chapter 4 is a bit much.
  14. I would like to announce that if you want to dump a cosmetic mod onto your rom, you can. But ONLY cosmetic. You can't go editing a unit's stats, but you can edit their colors, sprites and even their identity so long as you don't change their stats and join time. In other words, the units have to PLAY the same, and the same goes for enemy formations and weapons. But as long as the game PLAYS just like vanilla FE6, it can look however you want.
  15. Free Deke is fair for me. (Even though its officially Dieck, I say Deke. Sounds less... you know.)
  16. Well, I've had a couple ideas for how to resolve holes like that, but nothing serious. Full freedom until Chapter 5 does sound fair, although it kinda defeats the purpose of a DRAFT for that stage of the game.
  17. I'm not gonna rig, but states are fair game. How else does whoever gets Gwendolyn and/or Sophia expect to use them?
  18. Personally? Even if Byleth is the face of the game, his/her three potential proteges are the real stars of the show. Sure, Byleth is the POV character. But he/she is a blank slate. Like, literally, Byleth has no personality, it's even commented on. Now, Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude are the three that should represent Three Houses to the world in my opinion.
  19. Personally? After 3H it's not like a lot is going to impress. However, there are a few suggestions I could make. Both Blazing Blade and Path of Radiance have very in-depth tutorials on their mechanics, so it would be simple enough to start from one of those. The problem with the former is that it hand-holds fiercely, while the latter is considered moderately difficult for a new player. Binding Blade and Shadow Dragon are fierce contenders for hitting players over the head with "Anyone can die, but that's okay because you can get replacements." If one's first run in these games is a "soft ironman," where you are allowed to reset over your lord but not other units, they're both excellent games to do just that in. Echoes is an interesting one, but if she's grown used to Divine Pulse, Mila's Turnwheel should feel overwhelmingly familiar. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT start with Genealogy of the Holy War unless you plan on explaining the more nuanced mechanics of the game. It's honestly my personal nightmare to figure out, it's annoying at times and it's the one FE game I still don't fully understand the mechanics of. Thracia 776, New Mystery of the Emblem and Radiant Dawn are also bad games to push her into the water with, as they're a midquel and direct sequels respectively. As such, she won't know the stories of their predecessors. Awakening gets a pass due to being an indirect sequel to Shadow Dragon though. Fates is an odd entry, so I won't comment on it here. I don't know how to answer it. Lastly, Sacred Stones is about the easiest game in the series, and while it doesn't have Casual Mode or a Divine Pulse mechanic, it's simple enough for anyone to understand. My personal choice out of all of these would be Binding Blade. It's challenging, and several units of similar classes means that units who die can be replaced by the survivors. It helps that FEGBA isn't exactly squeaky with its enemy quality, with unpromoted foes still lying around near the endgame. Its Divine Weapons mechanic is odd, but it'll work wonders for teaching the importance of resource management. You have these seven super-strong weapons, but they're incredibly limited in their durability, and, if you do get all seven, you can't use them up until after you've beaten the mad king or you lose your chance at the true ending. The only issue is the very unforgiving hitrates, but... eh. I can overlook that at times. Maybe it would be wiser to ease her in with Blazing Blade though, as that would get her introduced to the world and mechanics in an easier way. The cast is also loads more memorable than Binding's, so that would fill that criteria.

  21. I had no idea content was cut from FE3 when they made FE12. I'll have to play this thing.
  22. they could remaster (not remake, if they remake it they redo everything) FE7 in this day and age and people would eat that s--- up because despite its many flaws FE7 is still such a beloved game
