  1. I'm just getting into this game in time for the Legendary Banner, and F!Grima is my favourite character, so you'd better believe I'm going to reroll like a madman until I have a good one. My question is: what is a good F!Grima? Her skillset says "tank", but her stats say "speedy attacker", and last I checked a unit couldn't run both in this game without a significant drawback.
  2. Thanks for the prompt replies guys. Getting as many 5* units as I'm gunning for is unrealistic, I realize. That said, I am a very stubborn person (as in "I will soft reset for a 1/8,000 Shiny Pokemon" stubborn) and this Legendary Banner is the best chance to do it, so I have nothing to lose in the attempt and nothing better to do with the time.
  3. I'd just like to take a moment to thank @Raven for suggesting I hold off on syncing my account before the new Legendary Banner. I just saw the reveal video and the character I wanted the most but was never expecting (F!Grima) comes from this banner. Crossing my fingers that I can use her with my earlier Fae pull with extra orbs. So now that we see what's on the banner, what units should I reroll for other than F!Grima? My immediate assumption is Brave Lyn (thankfully they're both colorless) and Zelgius (because then I wouldn't need to buy Black Knight), while I can pull Brave Ike off of the freebie 5* banner, but I'm not sure what the pros and cons are of the other featured units.
  4. Ehhhh, I am in no way able to invest anything into Fae with a fresh account, nevermind a dragon team. Guess I'll only keep her if I get a good roll on that account on the 29th. Thanks for the feedback!
  5. I can't believe I didn't think of that. I'll sit on it until the 29th and see how my rolls go. I was nonplussed to get that -Res on Fae, but +Spd makes her harder to double which kinda-sorta makes up for it? I haven't quite gotten into the gameplay yet so I'm not sure, I may just have dollar signs in my eyes from getting what is supposedly a top-tier 5* unit on my first roll.
  6. Another stupid reroll question: I was changing emulators since my first one seems irreparable, and while testing to make sure rerolling worked (which it does, no issues), I ended up with a 5* +Spd/-Res Fae from a free roll. The other free rolls from the other banners were markedly less good, but no orbs have been spent. Is this roll worth syncing if I'm stockpiling my daily orbs until the 29th for the legendary banner? Or should I still hold off and use that banner for my rerolls?
  7. Ugh. It never even occurred to me to check if the engine settings had been reverted, I was tunnel-visioned on DirectX/OpenGL being the problem. And yeah, I've been manually removing any folders that were left behind when Bluestacks uninstalled, so that isn't the issue. It's a damn shame Bluestacks is no longer cooperating despite Compatibility mode in the engine working before. I feel like the fix is something simple and dumb that we're not seeing. Oh well, beggars can't be choosers. I'll stick to MEmu for now and see what options can be tweaked to improve the choppiness/video issues. Thanks for all the help!
  8. Trying to install non-microG Bluestacks ended up immediately crashing Bluestacks when it tried to do something related to Chinese Google on the first startup. So that's a no-go. I got this notification from microG Bluestacks though, not sure if relevant: Sadly I can't read Chinese, so I don't know what any of this is about. All I know is that everything was working fine before until I tried to create a clone instance of microG Bluestacks before, and then it will have an infinite loading screen with the Compatibility option checked despite System Restoring and reinstalling. Nothing else is frozen on the emulator, just the place where I'd select Apps. (Something else I noticed was that clicking the buttons @mental_offence told me to click for cloning gave me a notification with "4G" in it and increased to "6G" and "8G" with consecutive presses, not sure if relevant.) For lack of any other inspirations, I guess I'll be sticking to MEmu for the foreseeable future.
  9. Back from my foray, I do not have Hyper-V (on account of my 8.1 being the bog standard version, not Pro or Enterprise), and disabling Hardware Virtualization in Avast! did not induce any changes in Bluestacks or MEmu. I'm afraid I'm out of ideas.
  10. @Astellius Don't worry, I'm savvy enough with Windows to alter the registry and not crash my computer, and I backed it up just in case. The System Restore point I used was also from before I installed Bluestacks (in fact I made a restore point before altering anything for installing Bluestacks for this sort of problem). Switching between DirectX and OpenGL didn't have any noticeable effect. I did that when FEH was still working in an effort to get around the crashes (which didn't work, for the record). They don't seem to affect the game's startup, and the crashes could even happen when Bluestacks was idle. (It hasn't happened since the reinstall, though I haven't been able to play FEH to dry run it, of course.) The BluestacksCN version is indeed 2.5.105.6191. I also copypasted the engine files from the .zip folder as per the instructions. The only thing different from the first installation is that I can't use that second option in that menu: Trying to use the second option now makes Bluestacks never finish loading. This didn't happen with the first install even after FEH stopped working, so I have little idea of what is causing this. You mentioned Avast! though, and while Turaga isn't using it, I am. I will try disabling Hardware Virtualization on Avast! and HyperV in Windows options (if my 8.1 even has it). I'll post again after I've investigated it. On a lighter note, this fiasco got me to try the MEmu option, which I'm pleased to report does not have this issue and actually runs the game... though with a few bugs. The gameplay hiccups constantly, and the in-game videos (like the intro and special summons) don't play and give a brief error message before skipping it. These things didn't happen in Bluestacks, so I'm positive it isn't a hardware issue, though increasing the CPU Cores/Memory didn't improve it and DirectX causes MEmu to fail when launching (OpenGL does not). It's playable, though a bit immersion-breaking.
  11. I'm sorry to double-post and bother you again @mental_offence, but I now have an emergency situation. After making sure FEH worked and rerolling worked, I tried testing that "clone instance" method just to see if it would work as advertised, and ran into a much bigger problem as a result: The game will not start. At all. Regardless of instance, regardless of Bluestacks settings, regardless of using System Restore and manually nuking Bluestacks from my files and registry and reinstalling it fresh with the exact same method. It just goes into the starting loading screen, then automatically exits before even reaching the title screen and returning to the Bluestacks screen, not even giving me an error message. I don't know why this would happen after a clean install, save for IP blocking. Am I boned? Or is there some Virtualization wizardry I'm unaware of that's breaking FEH? Detailed sequence of events that led to this:
  12. Welp, it's a good thing I screwed up my emulator and wasn't able to sync before I read this.
  13. I'm just starting out with the game and was doing reroll spam, hoping to get something to go with the neutral Brave Lyn I plan to get from the free summon and the Black Knight I plan to buy (whom I also assume is neutral, please correct if wrong). I wound up with Brave Ike and a bunch of garbage units (the best of them was 4* Olivia with an Atk bane). Should I keep this and sync to Nintendo? I'm sure the answer is probably "yes", but as a new player I don't want to make any assumptions before committing and paying money.
  14. Excellent, it's good to know there's more than one method. One last question: is it possible to change my player name? I can type it in, but the game doesn't save it when I hit Enter. Supposedly it can be done with the on-screen keyboard, but I don't know how to enable it (it's under "Select IME" in English Bluestacks, but in this Chinese Bluestacks the IME menu just freezes before displaying anything).
  15. Cool, just had to check. I'd heard horror stories of emulator users getting banned, but more than likely they were doing stupid things. Is it theoretically possible to sync FEH to my Nintendo account after I'm satisfied with the starting rolls, use microG Bluestacks for main gameplay, and only use MEmu when I want to buy things? A bit convoluted of a solution, but it would make the 803-3001 issue way more bearable.
  16. Dumb question from someone who hasn't emulated Android before: is it safe to use my main Google account, or should I make an alternate account for this? Also, since I'm probably going with the microG option that doesn't restrict Google shop options, is there anything I need to be aware of (other than my money going to waste if I somehow cop a ban) if I want to purchase Orbs / do rerolls?
