that's....not what progressive means. not in a literal sense or the political sense.

even conservatives understand that when things like universal healthcare are present then you can never go back on it if you want a political career
and just to be fair to jotari, this isn't true either. the american political system is not that far right lol. consider from fivethirtyeight (2017):
of course, the american right is moving farther right, but the point is our system, our socioeconomic system, is generally referred to as a "mixed economy" rather than a "capitalist" one, much less a laissez-faire one.
and just to take the focus off of america, as there's a dedicated topic for that, can someone explain the new developments for venezuelan power to me?

well that sucked. i don't think it was a boring game tho. defensive battles are as exciting to me as shootouts. the 2 reasons this game isn't a classic are:
1a. rams offense shot themselves in the foot more often than the defense got stops. not to take away from the pats' performance. it was nearly as good as the rams' d performance.
1b. didn't score a touchdown. cooks had 2 chances to score, but he fucked up the first time and goff fucked up the second time. sad!
2. the rams didn't destroy the dynasty they helped to create.
mcvay got outcoached. im upset but im not even mad. belichick is the best there is, period.
i was happy to see brady played like shit tonight (at least to goat standards lol). i have no fucking clue how edelman was able to get open so often. i guess he's a damn good player...

In the political climate of today, anything that resembles forcing education on the masses will lead to significant backfire. It's foolish.
does there not exist limits in achieving this goal?
-
this is different lol. like, going to school is already legally required. truancy is already illegal too. most people also recognize the importance of education and don't need the threat of prosecution to attend. what she did was a misuse of power--she also failed to mention if those students even did better or not. these are just soundbites, though.
did she need to threaten to prosecute parents to show them the sorts of safety nets that were available? what was the point?
-
coercing students into attending class...interesting solution. i am relieved she's passionate about education, but what an unbelievably blind approach to the issue. it takes longer, but what if she started making schools better? the top-down approach--that is, by force-- is easiest. but, is it the most effective? the healthiest way to get students to attend? will it get them to want to learn?
those are solutions she should be seeking.
kamala ain't the one. :/

kinda bullshit that all they're gonna talk about is the missed pi. what about the facemask? what about all the other shit they missed?
this was an extremely poorly called game. not a rigged one. /r/nfl is so goddamn annoying with their pushed narratives.

The Saints offense struggled a bit against the Eagles defense, so it's within out capability.
i think the saints d will dominate for a bit. but, i'm hoping talib will body michael thomas for the game, so that it doesn't have to be a shootout like last time. especially a 21-pt deficit shootout.
lmaoooooo

perfect, we don't have to fight magic. we just have to beat brees. B) 1-1 so far.

Next up is either Eagles or Saints.
looking like the eagles. but there's a lot of game left.

friendly shit talking is fine, don't you think?
just watch days of our steelers
-
dude hasnt changed at all. you gotta open your eyes.
sorry you went through a shitty experience though. hope everything works out.
-
lmao are we really gonna sit here and pretend what i'm doing is wrong? i don't care what team you root for: ben roethlisberger is fucking trash. not as a steeler, but as a human. liking him is akin to liking chris brown or kareem hunt. actually, it's worse than hunt because he at least is trying to change. sorry your sports team employs scum--they all do, or at least they all have. it's okay to like the steelers and not like the shitty people on the steelers. if you like ben, maybe you should think why being good at a sport excuses him from horrible behavior.
also, it's worse to talk shit behind one's back in general, so i'd rather do it here knowing there are steelers fans.
to further explain my points: a lot of my 'heroes' have disgraced themselves, or are close to it. louis ck (which is more subtle than the rest but i'm still not happy with him), neil degrasse tyson, richard feynman, to name a few. i used to look up to those people, but it's impossible upon learning what kind of people they are/were.
even worse, chuck berry, jimmy page, david bowie. it's a tough pill to swallow, i understand that, but you two are being soft if you can't accept that your organization isn't perfect.
-
ben constantly throws his own teammates under the bus, among other things. brown is a diva. bell is a diva.
i mean, ben is scum, but the other players are mostly fine. and i did say star players to begin with. i don't think the steelers have more star players than the 3/4 i named (maybe they do, but i pay more attention to nfc football + afc west during the regular season).
almost every team has divas, but neither of you can deny the steelers have more drama than any other team.

The speeding, that was dumb, I'll give you that. But I don't think it affected the team much.
That comment was made in response to some guy who said AB wouldn't be as good on another team because Ben. I'd make a similar response myself if someone said something like that about me.
Oh of course. And yeah, some fans on social media are stupid or illogical and all that. I totally agree there.
it wasn't just dumb, it was life threatening.
the steelers are an extremely unlikeable team. their star players just seem like assholes, save mah boi juju. captain fuck face seems like the biggest douche ever. i actually kinda side with bell, cause fuck (most) team owners, but don't like what he did to his teammates. i get it tho.
@The Dread Pirate Roberts yeah i get ya. kinda sucks that fans of a game are so hostile lol.

i actually like our matchup the most now. i didn't wanna face the bears again tbh. now, if the eagles can take the saints, i think we've got something going...

turns out his name is more basic than that
also fuck jeff fisher, motherfucker stole trent dilfer's playbook after we fucked their ass in the last week of the 2000 season, and we fucked them up in the divisional round and won a super bowl
what a fuck
also i submitted this to dr phil
i hope they fix their problems
sorry, i meant those of us real fans in the la rams subreddit. i actually didn't notice you did it lol.
fuuuuuck dr phil better pick this up!!!

also her crusade to prove she's "native american" was distasteful. i'm between 6-10 generations removed from nigerian ancestors according to 23andme--am i black now? i'm even from a black neighborhood!! (i'm ~49% irish/uk and ~50% jordanian/lebanese but look 1000% irish to clear that up.)
if sanders and warren really are both running, which i hope will not be the case, i think it'd be best for warren to move aside. i want a progressive candidate, though!
unfortunately, i think that reality will chime in the next year or so and remind us that not all leftist states are like california. we're going to have to settle for a biden or something.

He's also always had elite players to work with. They've been carrying him a bit. And you'd think with all these talented players he's had, he'd make one more SB or two in the time he's had. Belichick could. But Tomlin? Nah. Can't even win an AFC game anymore now.
And like I said. This team went from holding the second seed to probably missing the playoffs. There is a serious problem there.
Though man, am I SO glad we finally beat the Patriots. I got so tired of losing to them and the sting of last year's matchup lingered on top of that.
i don't disagree with you necessarily, but as raven points out: the odds are very low.

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
nice man. i'm pretty happy with the afc seeding, aside from the pats getting in. i think the browns are getting in next year!!
nfc seeding has seahawks, which is annoying...

fischer confirmed steelers new head coach.
-
he's never had a losing season dude! (with the steelers)
also can the pats just fucking die already i mean jesus christ

mmm maybe. fischer kept his job for years lol

Also, uh, mine is pretty self-explanatory. I also sometimes use Crissaegrim, which is named after the sword from The Silmarillion (but I had Alucard's Symphony of the Night sword in mind at the time). It's an ok step from <random_american_name> (not my name) the Hedgehog, which I used until my 14s and people more familiarized with me still call me by that, I guess.
shoulda been a gif but i guess those aren't supported yet

well, my reddit, steam, and forum accts are uninspired fanboy shit (gray fox, phoenix wright). my very first psn account was particularly cringy, as i wanted to come up with something that i enjoyed but wasn't trite. what came up in 12yo me's mind: gray_fox_007.
a name that im proud of: alt reddit acct and blizzard acct. inurblackhol (never fits the whole thing). it's precisely the right mixture of my love for astronomy and sexual innuendos

not quite. in a literal sense, "progressive" means that something is happening gradually over time. however, it's not too difficult to understand that words in a dictionary sense may have a separate definition entirely from the definition used in a field of study.
for example, energy literally means one's ability to perform actions. in physics, it refers to a quantifiable property of a system--its ability to do 'work.'
in a political sense, progressivism is a social, leftist (typically socialist) ideology that aims to reform the current system in ways that benefit all people. this includes social safety nets and single-payer healthcare systems.
