Bows are the best weapon type in FE2. 1~3 range for standard bow, 1~5 range when you give them a better bow.

Niime is the best Druid is FE6, though its because she comes with A staves and high magic to go with it. Using Physic from like 10 spaces away right off the bat it nice.

Swords aren't that bad. Just as an example here, the most practical ways to deal with those earlygame armors are the Armorslayer and Lugh.
