I'm playing through FE2 and I have a quick question about the Villager > Merc branch. If I were to take a Dark Knight and promote him back to a Villager, would he only lose Res, and keep all his other stats?

I'm currently starting a hack for fun and I'm using FE8 for the base of it. Is it possibly to complete map hacks and changes for Fire Emblem 8? If so, what programs would it require?
