  1. I use the refresher units all the time. They haven't let me down yet!

With them, you can gain your units Extra EXP in the same number of turns. With the prospect of even stronger units in mind, can you really say you need another unit? In my experience, the aren't a liability if you use them like you would Archers and Mages - Keep them away from the front lines, maybe 3 or so spaces away. In the Case of Ninian/Nils, you can easily have a cavalier or mounted unit near them, and, should any gaps appear in the lines, or an enemy poses a threat, they can deal with it!

It's also fantastic to use their abilities to train Stave wielders, as they find it difficult to gain EXP.

On the whole, very handy. Unless you have a paladin-heavy team, in which case they have difficulty keeping up.

  2. I don't get that either. ...But it sure is helpful.

It is. It turns a "They'll proabably die." to "They will die."

And breaking the laws of the game is awesome.

On topic, I try to take Pelleas whenever possible, but he always tends to be innacurate, so I'm leaning away from him at the moment...

  3. Let me think....

Micaiah (Thani) - Forced in, so I stuck her on Stave duty :D A support with Sothe was quite handy

Sothe (Peshkatz) - Forced in, Used as Micaiah's bodyguard.

Sanaki (Bolganone) - Her speed is horrible, but she softens them up, at leat.

Kurthnaga - Completely spammed on Endgame 3, level 40 FTW!

Ena - I used her as little as I possibly could. She's horrible.

Ike (Ragnell) - Obliterated the BK before I could get Wishblade >(

Tibarn - He makes it too easy, but still...

    Volke - Stilletto = Win.

Naesala - The weakest starter of the Laguz Royals, but still awesome. (HOW DOES HE HAVE TEAR ON LEVEL 28!?)

Nephenee (Silver Greatlance) - Nothing could hurt her. Seriously.

Elincia (Amiti) - Owned everything except Generals.

Rhys - Got killed in Endgame 5 >(

Stefan (Vague Katti) - Mia was RNG screwed and Eddie was still a Swordmaster :(

Rolf (Double Bow) - Better than Shinon in every respect.

Soren (Forged Wind) - Owned all. What more is there to say?

    I forgot the rest.

  4. First PT, Ike got hammered and ran away. Nasir died. I cursed. I took it all out on Ashnard

Second PT, Mist obliterated the reinforcements with a Steel Sword while Ike kept using Elixers. 5 turns went by. Nasir died. I cursed. I reset the game in anger.

Second PT retry, Ike activated Aether on his first turn. BK down to 10 HP after the counter attack. Ike tapped him. BK died. Nasir lived. I was happy. Music started playing and the sun came out.

  5. Ugh. I hate all of them.

If I had to choose one of them, it would have to be Oliver.

At least then I'd have a nice house.

Valtome's a Kefka-brand freak and Lekain is far too evil to Sanaki.

At least I could fob Oliver off on to Leanne later. And stab him as he leaves. (Oh wait, his flab would shield any vital organs :( )

  6. I just had an idea.

Perhaps the power to sense the Branded is linked to the Laguz ability to sense each other?

I remember Reyson saying in Path of Radiance that the Cat, Heron and Dragon tribes have exceptional powers of sensing Laguz (as displayed with Kurthnaga and Deghinsea after Endgame-3). If this is so, why can this not be applied to the Branded, who are part-Laguz? It is fair to assume that the Lion and Tiger tribes would have a low amount of this ability. This would explain why Skrimir and Mordecai didn't catch on to Soren or Stefan.

Muarim, though, is the exception. Though he does seem to be the most intelligent of the three.

  7. Soren.

Thanks to being RNG blessed in PoR, he began as a level 7 (I think...) Sage with Cappaed Skill, Magic, Speed and one point off Capped Resistance.

With those capped, admittedly the other levels did very little, but he was very handy!

Second Place - Sothe. The Direct Tranfer and the way he has Blossom in PoR means he starts as a Level 1 Rogue with the Stats of a 7~8, if not even higher.

  8. Well, exp on hard mode is 5 for a normal hit on someone of the same level, and most enemies in that chapter are level ~18 1st tier, while Astrid is lv 1 2nd tier, so that's 4 exp per hit. Doubled makes 8. That would be 18 on normal mode, though.

    Actually, I think she's Level 2 2nd Tier.

Not that it makes any difference at all. The slight innacuaracy was bugging me.

  9. I admit I enjoyed a couple of his support conversartions (especially those with Bastian!) When I forced myself to use him. However, I just never found him superior. Just average.

Average + That Hair = Unusable.

    EDIT:

I agree with this post 100% (ESPECIALLY the bolded part). We think alike, that we do (too much rurouni kenshin)

    Okay!

  10. Ugh, Makalov.

He's one of those characters I took one glance at and thought "There is no way in hell I am using this guy for anything..." He's just so....I don't know. Gremlin-ish? In PoR, he couldn't hit ANYTHING if he wanted to, so I stopped using him in favour of Astrid.

    Yes, you saw correctly. Astrid.

In RD, He wasn't too bad, and I considered using him, despite his utterly horrendous colour scheme. Then I realised Astrid had got to his level and surpassed him in every stat by blinking. He dealt with a gate and an axe user on my recent playthrough. Then he vanished to the depths of the character select screen.

  11. I promoted Edward, Leo, Nolan, Meg, Jill, Aran, Got Micaiah to Level 20, Sothe to level 15 or so (yay Paragon!), I promoted Ilyana on the Endgame out of sheer pity.

I didn't promote Laura though, She did manage to get to level 18. And poor Tormod & Co didn't get used at all. Neither did Nailiah or the Black Knight. Volug got to sit in the nearest corner and run for his life every map. Fiona got benched after I stole her skills. >)

  12. I decided to use Meg in my most recent playthrough.

My God, she is a BEAST.

By Part 1 endgame, she was easily tier 2, two-hitting everything with 100% accuracy for 'bout 19 damage per time. Equipped with a Steel Sword.

Even Jarod proved no problem whatsoever for her, as he did about 7 damage. And she had imbue healing 6 per turn (not great, but useful!).

Admittedly, she needed babying for 2 or so chapters, after that, everyone else needed babying in the face of her awesome.

I'm gonna use her from now on.

I'm also training up Astrid. With a little "Continually-shoot-the-enemy-while-he-sits-on-a-healing-bush" Training, she had surpassed Makalov in everything and was catching up to Kieran, by the end of Part 2, Chapter 3.

That, and she has those few chapters near the end of part 3, which Geoffrey doesn't have.

    ----

On the subject of Archers, I find that Rolf is better than Shinon in every way. He does take a bit more levelling than Shinon, but, by the end, he is far better as an Archer. He obliterated Deghinsea without so much as a blink.

This time round, I'm taking poor, underused Leo. He may not be the best, but I feel a bit sorry for him.

  13. I've been using Serenes Forest for a while and only just noticed the little "Forum" Link. ^^;

So...I'm Warrior of Dawn (WoD will do if you can't be bothered to type it). I own Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn, and have Blazing Sword and Sacred Stones somewhere...

I hope to contribute to this forum, at least a bit.

    See you around!

    ;D
