  1. The thing is, the only resource you have to spend on Keaton is EXP. And his daughter is him with better RES and SPD, but slightly less tanky. There is a reason she is considered the second best kid (behind Percy) because she can't be screwed. Keaton can't be screwed as well, and is not affected by the weapon triangle, while still having decent hit rates. He doesn't really need to be reclassed unless you really want him to suck (E weapon rank locked at that point of the game sucks).

That's all, he is always reliable, in case you got screwed in other areas. He kinda falls of lategame( like chapter 25 or 26). Xander outclasses him as a tank, but he outclasses everyone lol.

Also his personal skill is a godsend for people that play offline only ( like me).

  2. Benny is the second best tank in the game, since his DEF and STR is ridiculous, but his SPD is garbage. Thankfully, Generals have a skill that prevents them from being doubled, so you want that ASAP. Also he has low mov, so if you are going fast, he's hitting the bench.

Keaton is an excellent unit, who has ok-good speed (won't double faster units unless you use beaststone+), but he has really high strength, good defense, and most importantly the highest HP in the game. This is Low HP Emblem as you may have seen already, and having a lot of HP never hurts. He is also one of the best units for handling faceless, since he ORKOs them without taking too much damage, and without activating their stupid skills. He regens 40% of his HP every odd turn, so he is somewhat self-sufficient. And lets not forget, one shotting all mounted enemies, including pegasi (you'll see them a lot in future Conquest chapters), and your usual paladins and whatnot. His greatest weaknesses are his low res, and unlike Xander, he doesn't attack on 1-2 range,so he can't counter those pesky mages, But aside from that he has great weapon choices (all 3 of them lol), since beastrune makes him absurdly tanky, and he works well with +spd,+str or +def pair up.

Not sure if this is an unpopular opinion tho.

  3. Gameplay wise, this is the best implementation of kids so far.

In FE4, if you paired the right people, you would get kids so OP that the game would play itself. But if you didn't, you would have castle benchwarmers. And the substitutes are there to clean the castle.

In FE13, they are alright, but mostly superior to their parents when grinded. But on no grind, if your name wasn't Lucina, Morgan, or another early/easy to get kid, you were pretty screwed. Since they all join at level 10, and the later their parents appear, the harder their paralogue (Nah,Gerome,Inigo), and the harder they are to train, and they end up pretty much useless. When grinded however, they are better than their parents by far, and you have an army of children destroying merchants from another dimension, and supersoldiers with insane stats.

In FE14, from a Conquest PoV, the children are a huge help because they unlock extra chapters which hold great goods, and a lot of EXP. Children bases are less affected by their parents bases, so you don't have to grind the parents first either. Children scale, so they aren't stupidly broken or useless, and they don't completely outclass their parents either so you have a reason to use either or both. This system also pushes pairing up husbands as a side objective in every map, which means if you want all the paralogues, you must pair every one. And it brings up a dilemma, do I complete this paralogue early to have an easier time with it but obtain a worse unit, or later on when it's really tough but I get an excellent unit? I love the system in this game, but can't say much about the Birthright kids, because didn't get as invested in them.

Also, hyperbolic time chamber sucks, I still don't get it.

  4. Kaze likes the Dread Scroll since it helps his Strength. Personally, he is the best user of the Dread Scroll since he also has the hidden weapons rank to really excel at the class, as well as the RES growth to be the best anti-mage in Nohr, and the Dread Fighter is an anti-mage class.

Odin is also great with the Dread Scroll, if you are not planning to use him as a mage.

Laslow and Peri also utilize it to great effect, since it helps Laslow's speed, and Peri has the second best RES in Nohr, I think.

  5. You basically need to keep their range highlighted for the whole map to prevent this, yeah.

I did, but fun fact, if you enter the left room from the right side (the side with the swordmaster pair up) you get lunge chained all the way to saizo, but if you go through the left, they only lunge you inside the first room.

The problem is that I didn't know a way to tacke the left side, the walls make it too hard to Player phase kill all the enemies, and the puppetshave insane range, so I basically lucked out with Xander and Nyx and it worked. BowBreaker+Lucky Seven Adventurer!Niles almost solod the right side because all ninjas had 0 hit rate on him, and Leo took care of the master of arms. Now I'm doing Nina's paralogue and it's pretty challenging this late into the game (and I have no more entrap staves).

  6. I should tell you all that the RNG loves me, and that I should probably change my username for it, because on Chapter 25 I decided that Nyx was going to die because I was tired of the chapter and I needed to kill some enemies in the left room. She was facing 2 swordmasters that one-shot her with 69% hit rate on Enemy Phase, and she was unpaired, so I basically said GG.

Then she dodged twice, and killed them both. EASY.

Also the 4 puppets Lunge chained Xander so hard, he got to Saizou, and had like 10 defense (from 37).

  7. Wait what?

So True Garon fought Anankos with a frickin Bolverk? Not even a Siegfreid?

1-3 range bruh. Also Anankos attacks RES.

Also I think Garon has no personality due to

being a slime monster who is just Anankos' minion. So, he has no connection with all the other characters, he is just following Anankos order of spreading war and chaos and other bad shit on the two kingdoms.

  8. Fun Fact, in Lunatic, in Invasion 3 the Stoneborns have Lunge.

Chapter 26. It's just so emotional. The map itself isn't that great, but this map is just the best story segment of the whole game. Doesn't help that I played Conquest first, and that Xander was my MVP. WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY.

Chapter 23. This chapter made me use a strategy that's so weird and unusual, but it was such a challenging map, for Birthright. And it has the best map theme in Fates imo.

Chapter 12. Maybe not many liked it, and yeah you can cheese it easily, but the difference between this one and Nohr 21, is who you are running from. Xander can't be killed by anything that's not magic, and like in Conquest he one shots mages. The great knights are really tough, and fliers that aren't careful will be shot down by outlaws.

    Bottom

Chapter 18. Leo, you just deserved so much better ;_;. The thing that I didn't like the most in Birthright coming from Conquest, is how easy it is to kill the Nohr siblings and their retainers, since their stats are kinda their Nohr bases, but like 5 chapters later. And leo can die in the first turn since almost anyone can double him and kill him. NotLikeThis.

Chapter 14. Flashbacks from Awakening chapter 19 on Lunatic. Nowhere to run , nowhere to hide. And can't cheese it by just killing the boss.

Chapter 15. WHY DO I HAVE TO KILL MY BRO KEATON. It's just sad because you kill them because of a misunderstanding.

Man, Kitsunes and Wolfskins have the saddest death cries, the game really makes you feel bad on those maps.

  9. [spoiler=My answer] Best: Conquest 23, where you fight Takumi and make the epic fight in the first trailer a reality, I ADORE this map

Conquest 11, or as I like to call it "Look, stairs", I love the two routes idea, and it's a nice break after the wake up call that is

Conquest 10, which is basically where the game shows you it's not screwing around

Worst: Birthright 12, Literally pair Corrin up with Hinoka and you can LEGIT FLY to the escape point to 3 turn the map

Conquest 21, When the only way I was able to beat a map is by pairing Corrin up with Camilla and hopping from Dragon's vein to Dragons vein to 4 turn it, your doing something wrong

Conquest 17, mostly because of Kotaro, who gives me FE6 Sacae HM flash backs

Although I like Birthright 12 it suffers the same problem from Conquest 21, and I only like it for story reasons, and seeing Xander chasing me was legit frightening.

Totally agree on 21, on Lunatic I saw the map, deployed only Xander and Corrin, and just moved and hit start.

For chapter 21, what I did was undeploy Azura and Elise and deployed Gunter and Benoit and separated the Niles-Camilla pair into independent functioning pairs and using the 2 dudes as defense. then all my land units just pressed on and killed as many things as possible per turn (there's one turn I need to save the DV so I picked a relatively enemy-scarce turn to do it) while Cam and Xander(Still flying) team up to take out Stoneborns and hit up all the DVs. Wyvern Xander, again, is super clutch. Even if I wasn't doing it for the Swordbreaker, I think in future runs of Conquest I'd definitely still make him a Wyvern just for the 19-21 stretch, at least.

Have you tried Hero!Xander? So broken it crashes my game.

  10. My personal experience with 21 is why I like it the least, the first time around I thought it was like in chapter 12 where only Corrin had to escape....

Turns out that wasn't the case and Ophelia payed the price. After that it took me so many tries to actually complete the chapter, while killing the boss. Elise and Azura getting one-shot by stoneborns hurts too. And the reinforcements not giving EXP was so troll, I was thinking that I could just level up with these reinforcements but Conquest said naaaaaaaah.

  11. How did you use Pair Up effectively in this game? Back in 13 usually i used the tried and tested "sacrifice a character as a stats bot" is it generally the same here?

Pair up is more situational here now. Mostly, if you need some stats BADLY, like speed or strength, or that character is going to tank a lot of hits, pair up. Some characters (like Xander and Effie) benefit a lot from being paired up, since they are great thanks, and can OHKO. And if someone is tanking, they want to Dual Guard, so if you are going to have a really busy Enemy Phase, pair up is better.

However, Attack Stance (or dual strike) is much better for Player phase, since you can potentially 1.5x more damage in that player phase, as well as having more units to take action. Take into account that Attack Stance also increases your hit, and we are back in FE6 bois, so hit rates are pretty important. Units like mages and archers benefit a lot from not being paired up, since they can use Attack Stance with an unit, even if the other unit is already paired up.

That's just how I play though, you can figure out how you like it the most, but both stances have a lot of uses, even if Pair up is better most of the time.

  12. Post what are your top 3 /bottom 3 chapters/paralogues in FE:Fates! You may judge them by the quality of the map itself, the story in it, or both.

    NOHR

    1. Chapter 10. We all know this one, it's early on the game, you don't have that many options, and the game gives you a huge test. Figuring out how to survive, get all the villages, and having to improvise like hell after Takumi uses the dragon vein was so much fun, and I always look forward to playing the chapter again. Also you get Female Haar so yay.

    2. Chapter 8. This chapter is what Conquest is all about. Anti-turtling with the rush for the villages. Threatening enemies that your units can take with proper planning. Dragon Vein with a thought-provoking use ( I can stop the enemy onslaught and get them stuck in the water, but if I do that I'll lose out on a village or have my units stuck as well). A great way to start a great game.

    3. Chapter 24. You vs. Hinoka. Her Dragon Vein vs. Yours. Fliers vs. ground units. Truly the best fighting chapter in the game, where all units shine, and every movement counts. It also requieres a lot of planning, since by a certain turn you need to have a royal near a Dragon Vein. To top it all of, a threatening, notTakumi sniper miniboss, and Azama (blazeit) keeping you on your toes with that hexing rod, and a great and challenging boss fight, make for a pretty kickass map.

    Bottom

    1. Chapter 21. This map is just UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGH. It's a squishy hell, since stoneborns do so much damage from RANGE, but it's also a tank hell since if you don't ORKO the faceless they deal %HP damage. Keaton shines here because he can tank and ORKO, but the objective is to escape with all units, and this is no Thracia, they ALL need to escape. I just hate Stoneborns fck.

    2. Chapter 19. Blindly, this chapter can be one of the worst of the series. Once you figure out how the illusions work, the chapter is much more managable but 2 things just stand out. First, the foxes can trap your tank with pass, and they will just sit there like idiots if they have the illusion again. And Second, the foxes have high crit chance soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

    3.Chapter 17. Ninja abuse cave, that's all.

    Edit: whoops spoiler.

  13. If you are playing on Lunatic, then growths are fixed when you recruit a character. You are posting in this thread so I guess you are ;V

Felicia is kinda a Jeigan, but not really at the same time, since although she is a promoted unit, and has so-so bases, she can reach level 40 and gains EXP like an unpromoted unit so there.

  14. Is it ok to kill of Rinkahh whoever it is and Sakura on the first 5 chapter on Nohr?

    Oh hey thar

Yes, characters that die before ch.6, will come back on the route you chose.

Also I have shurikenbreaker on Niles and just tested hit rates. The ninjas have 0% hit rate B)

  15. Lunatic's been really easy, honestly. (I don't mean to brag, but it's probably because I got my ass kicked so bad in Lunatic+ Awakening that I say this, lol) I'd personally rate is somewhere above Awakening's hard, but not even quite as challenging as Awakening's Lunatic.

--> (For reference of how I'm playing it -> Conquest - Lunatic/Classic/NO DLC/No skill buying from castle battles/Rewards from visits allowed)

Honestly, sorcs are gods, yet again... or should I more so say, Vantage? It's insane how much that skill can turn battles, on top of dual guard system.

Hardest map for me so far is Ophelia's paralogue INCLUDING getting all 4 village rewards AND capturing the boss. That shit was a cat + mouse chase, lmao. Oh... and... Calamity Gate <3

If anyone has questions about particular map strategies (for Conquest) I can share :o

You'll regret those words once you reach the neverending ride of torture that is ch. 24-Endgame.

Also is non-rescue Nohr!Endgame at least top 5 hardest maps in the series? At least hardest Endgame because dayum.
