Thanks. In that case, it's interesting that there appears to be some sort of conflict of information. Superkyon seems to make it pretty clear that they actually saw the conversation between Kliff and Tobin. They've yet to clarify whether it was fully voiced or not though.

Yeah. It's hard to believe that they let some people see the supports and not others. Part of me wonders if Superkyon did see the supports or if they mistook something else for supports. Maybe Daan is under the false assumption of there being other kind of supports? Hard to say.

I don't recall Daan saying that anywhere. Superkyon's answers in the Reddit AMA suggest otherwise because they actually said that the dialogue of Kliff and Tobin's C support was short and didn't give any info about their personalities, so they had to have seen it in order to make that comment.

It was via a tweet to someone on twitter.

I am just hoping that the supports aren't all short like Tobin and Kliff C apparently is. I also hope that we have some variety for S Supports.(Like Clair can only have an S Support with Gray) And no Support Max(like no 5 supports per character.)

Fingers Crossed for Full Voice Acting in them as well.

Hard to say. Depends on whether the entire game is fully voiced or if it's just cinematics and story dialogue like unique said.

the website says "Fully voiced cinematics and story dialogue", so I doubt it

I could've sworn I heard some voiced dialogue between Mae and Boey. Not sure if that's from an opening of a chapter/map or not, though.

It was the only thing that made sense. I'm not too fussed that fatigue is in, but I'm happy it doesn't force you to drop units.

I guess it might be interesting for lengthy dungeon?

Same. It'll make for interesting strategies and it also encourages/forces players to consider using more than just a select number of characters. I always felt that I was one of very few people that tried to use each character as equally as possible.

  5. I wonder if Rinean (or whatever Berkut's girlfriend's name is) will be recruitable since Fernand defects from the Deliverance. Having someone leave Berkut's side for the other might be interesting.

I would need to find out more information on the "GBA style supports" before I form a solid opinion about it. This probably won't happen until I play the game. That being said, supports were never a major factor for me enjoying a Fire Emblem game, but they did help flesh out characters.

According to this link, you can rewind moves in Echoes, but it's not quite abuseable. Not to mention, we don't yet know everything about it right now. I personally like the idea of this because while I don't mind restarting when a character dies. When I'm blindsided by poor luck(Enemy getting a critical hit out of nowhere on a 1% chance), however, I happen to get annoyed when I have to restart the chapter. So it's nice to be able to undo something like that. Or you know, in the event that you accidentally move a unit one space too far, you can undo it and fix that. It's a nice addition and seeing it so limited as what little we know about it right now does balance the potential overpoweredness.

    Thoughts?

I'd have to see more on Mila's Turnwheel to fully form an opinion, but it seems like something that would be nice in a time of desperation and being able to rewind a particularly terrible move choice.

No you're right, only Alm and Celica will be the only units to get portrait changes in this game. Leon probably does have that left shoulder pauldron in his base Archer class.

What a shame! This would have been the perfect game to add portrait changes since the cast is so small and reclassing isn't a thing. I just don't get why the art team can't take a unit's base portrait and modify it to match the unit's new outfit. Ugh.

It is a shame that the character portraits don't change when the unit promotes. Though, that might also be due to the villagers being able to promote to a few classes, so it would be a hassle to redesign the portraits based on that.

Oh yeah, you're right. I just assumed female since from the posts I've seen, people have been using female pronouns.

To my knowledge, Hidari is female not male.

Edit: Aside from Wikipedia, which has been edited back and forth about Hidari's gender, everywhere else I look, it says Hidari is female.

Second Edit: Well, it seems that I (and apparently a lot of other people) am wrong. There are a lot of conflicting sites regarding this. My bad if that's the case.

Was that Silque with a bucket on her head in one of the screenshots, or is that part of her headdress? It's hard to see.

Also, Leon portrait doesn't match his artwork. Promotion changes confirmed?! Has my dream finally come true?!

Also, were any new mechanics introduced in any of the screenshots, or is it just old news?

I wouldn't necessarily say Leon's portrait doesn't match his artwork. It could be that since we only see Leon in a side angle that the armor part on his left shoulder just isn't visible in his artwork. Unless there are other parts of his portrait that are different. (I only glanced quickly)

  10. Another thing I'd like to add onto my response from earlier. Just because you're able to make slight changes while being able to keep the characters looking close to their original Gaiden designs, you don't have to work in tangent with other people involved in working on the game like Hidari does. She has to submit sketches and ideas to the game developers and others in charged and she has to get their approval before she can even finalize anything. Hidari's designs were almost certainly approved by those in charge of Echoes and its development.

I don't have any issue with the clothing or armor, the issue I have is with changing the identifying features of the characters, namely the hair style and color. There are subtle enough differences in the original art that this talented artist could have made them look very distinct while still keeping the characters true to their original design. Like she did with Alm and Celica. Even though their clothes changed, you know it's still them because their defining features are still the same. New Cliff looks so different from the old, they might as well be separate characters. Shadow Dragon's artist took the equally drab and boring designs from FE1 and made them unique and appealing while still keeping true to the individual aspects of the characters. And there's no reason this artist couldn't do the same. Hell, I did it myself!

They aren't the most unique designs, but Grey still looks like the sprite from Gaiden, while still looking distinct from both Robin and Cliff.

I think it's unfair to place all the "blame" for the character redesigns on Hidari. She doesn't make the final decision on what the characters ultimately look like. That role goes to the people  in charge of the game. She only draws what they tell her to draw.

Most likely about as long as Awakening I'd wager.

Might be a tad longer considering dungeon exploration exists.

If it ends up being as long as Awakening or longer, then there's a chance I'll be putting 100+ hours into it like I did Awakening. Though, also depends on how the map works (I'm relatively unfamiliar with Gaiden's gameplay. I just know the basic premise and the plot)

  13. 9 minutes ago, SuperIb said:

Their original designs? I'd hardly say they had one, considering they've all been redesigned multiple times.

At any rate, no, I don't think she changed them "too much." I think they all look great and were in need of these changes. This artist is doing an excellent job so far, everything she's done has been great. Can't wait to see more, honestly.

Agreed. One can't really say they had an original design in the first place when Gaiden featured very inconsistent artwork for almost every character (if they were lucky to get artwork), so Hidari (and IS) have been doing a great job reinventing these characters. Yes, they might not be recognizable compared to their Gaiden appearances, but they also weren't very recognizable to begin with. At least now we have a solid idea of what they'll look like.

  14. I don't mean to add to the negative feedback, but it's rather annoying that there are people complaining about the way you explore the villages in Echoes.

Could it has been done similarly to the dungeons? Yes. Is the visual novel-style exploration a bit of a buzz kill? Perhaps. Are there reasons for them choosing to to village exploration like they are? Most likely.

Personally, I wasn't a huge fan of being able to go into third person mode for Fates' My Castle because it didn't add much to the game aside from being able to see the layout of My Castle in another angle.

That being said, I honestly plan to reserve any final judgement for this game for when it comes out. Judging a game based on trailers and screen shots honestly doesn't do the game justice. Yes, those are what entice people to buy the game, but they're not the only way to judge a game.

  15. Honestly, I don't think that they've been changed too much. Looking at the Gaiden artwork, aside from the MAJOR characters and a few outliers, a lot of them looked like carbon copies of another, so them receiving redesigns that make them stand out in Echoes is nice. Gray and Kliff are two characters that looked a like in Gaiden and made it hard to tell which one was which at times.  As for Genny and Boey, I was able to determine who they were based on subtle details of their designs. Boey's circlet gave him away for me.

Does anyone know if the Alm and Celica amiibo 2 pack ever went up on amazon for preorder. Google is giving me no answers.

I receive tweet notifications from Nintendo Everything and Nintendo Wire and they usually post when pre-orders for anything Nintendo goes up for pre-orders. To my knowledge, they haven't tweeted anything about the Alm and Celica amiibo 2-pack going up for pre-order.

You can cancel your pre-order, or just never pick it up, but I don't know if you'll get your $5 deposit back, probably not.

I know if you don't cancel it and don't pick it up, you don't get a refund on your $5 deposit. You're also charged a $5 restocking fee if you pre-order online and have it shipped to store (not an option for the Limited edition), though. I'm also pretty sure that GameStop might have you put down more than just $5 when it comes to limited/special editions. I think I had to put down $25 for the Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE special edition.
