  1. FE 10 is a great game but those of you who loved it why do people always keep ignoring the fact that the availability of alot of the characters are atrocious? That would be my number 1 FE game of all time if it wasn't for that reason. I just wish all the FEs were like 7 in the sense that you had complete control of all your characters most of the time. That is Fire Emblem to me.

  2. Nah, the translation is just a translation. Nothing's been changed, except for one unused conversation being re-enabled (you'd never guess which one).

Nearly every FE "DLC" is already "on the disk". The only exceptions are FE13's paid DLC (but not the SpotPass content) and FE6's bonus trial maps.

The translation just provides a save file that already has the "DLC" episodes unlocked.

Ah okay so its basically up to the user to "tap in" to the DLC content for Heroes of Light and Shadow if you are doing it on a ROM right?

  3. I think I maybe might have read that they made it available from the get-go in the translation patch.

You should be aware, though, that it isn't really "DLC"; all the data is there on the game card, you just need to connect it to the internet to "unlock" it.

In short, if the patch doesn't come with it unlocked, you could probably whip up a cheat code or something to do that for you.

If anyone knows better than me, though, please do speak up.

Ah thats interesting... so you are saying that this English patch everyone is talking about is more than just a "text translation"? It is actually "activating" the latent episodes that you were supposed to download?

Sounds like On Disc DLC in other words. No problems for me but I'd just like to know I am getting the full experience. Thanks for your help.

  4. I would definitely be the weak Lucius type Monk at first who then grows into a powerful Bishop. Not because I am kind hearted and gentle.. just because I always had an affinity for Holy Magic/Element in most of the RPGs I have played.

There aren't enough Holy Attack spells in RPGs in general... it usually just means Cure magic but I love Holy Attack spells.

  5. I played FE7 when it came to America as Fire Emblem, and even though I had played SSBM, I didn't actually care about Marth or Roy then, so that didn't actually influence my decision. What influenced it was that my mom had gotten me Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy: Tactics Advance at the same time, and after playing both for about 10 minutes, I immediately fell in love with FE's art style and way that it talked to you, the player. That's really the thing that has kept me hooked on Fire Emblem for all these years; this personal feeling that you get from playing and fighting with these characters. Even though FE7 and 13 are the only ones I've played where the player is mentioned, it still feels like I'm there, and when a unit dies, I take it as personally as I did when I first played FE7.

I agree with a lot of these points it really does feel like there is a connection between you the player and the game... it is a very rare feeling nowadays in games. I first heard of Fire Emblem through Super Smash but I never played as Roy or Marth even though they seemed like my type of characters!

What drew me back was one day when I was looking at a wiki of top GBA games back in 2002 or 3 and I saw Fire Emblem on the list... I couldn't believe I had never played it. Needless to say my love for my alltime favorite series was born.

I am not really a huge strategy buff but I am a huge RPG nerd and I love experience, stats, and leveling up. So this game was a match made in heaven especially since there is no such thing as "random encounters". But I also love the fact that you can grind in this game as well because that is what me like RPGs to begin with. Really you choose your own playstyle in most of the Fire Emblems... you aren't restricted by one play type and that is very addicting.

  6. I think of Ryu Hayabusa (thank god I didn't play NG3 past the first hour, because fuck that game and fuck NG3 Ryu) since I really loved the Ninja Gaiden Black and 2, and never really cared for Street Fighter. Raiden from MGS comes up first for me, probably because Revengeance just came out.

    Indeed... Ninja Gaiden Black ftw!!

  7. Lol don't feel too bad cuz 3DS XL bundle doesn't exist in America. But I assume that doesn't matter since the 3DS isn't region locked right?

Oh my bad lol, someone said the 3DS isn't region locked but the Wii U is, thanks for telling me otherwise! I will still end up getting one though lol. Maybe we can add each other later.

  8. Hiya there, DoubleSpeedAttack~

Yeah, it's a nice place here. And certainly slick. (Better than most other forums I've seen, IMO.)

Hope you enjoy the stay at the Forest~

May you find out lots of new FE-related things~

P.S. Cool. I couldn't get the bundle. My parents didn't want me to, as I already had a perfectly functional 3DS. I said I'd be using my own money, but... eh. =P

  9. It is about time I bite the bullet and sign up to this great site already! I kept feeling guilty about not using the slick looking forums considering how my fanatical love of Fire Emblem is owed to this site just as much as the Fire Emblem games themselves.

Look forward to using the forums!

    P.S. - Eagerly awaiting a 3DS XL and FE: A.
