How Do You Play?

well, since I don't do ranked games, I usually take my time and try to level up each unit a little bit, then eventually I decide on who I like to use (also making sure I have at least one specialist of each weapon type not counting the game's lord(s)); I generally favor an active defense, advancing units each turn, not retreating unless someone is clearly going to die then of course rescuing them if a healer is too far to assist otherwise, typically the units out in front of the formation get plenty of attention and anything they don't finish off on the enemy's phase can then be killed by weaker units to spread the exp as much as possible; at the end of chapters not having some sort of time limit, I let my units have a few turns to get supports if possible then finish when I get bored of waiting

I'm kinda of rushy, even on "protect x for y turns" maps.

I keep at least two healers on that kind, and one on regular ones. I just gang up on the boss, though.

I play very defensively on my first playthrough, and usually end up using some crappy units. It's not too bad, 'cause I usually play the game through on easy mode first (habit I need to break), but I don't actually finish my first playthrough a lot of the time. I like to train all my units at once instead of focusing on one at a time.

On my second playthrough, I play very offensively and I don't care how many times I restart a chapter. I sat and restarted the bonus chapter from Blazing Sword where you need to talk to the pirate captain seven times as I tried again and again and kept getting hit by the same shaman with a 61% chance of hitting Hector. Then, I try and find who the best characters are, and I swap out about 3 characters each playthrough after the first one with new units.

And I almost never train bow-users, theives (I will use them to pick locks, but not fight), or healers. As I've said a gazillion times, I HATE healers.

I tend to be pretty defensive about my strategy, which is why I get stressed when chapters have a turn limit. It also causes me to not spread out from areas where I have to survive for this amount of turns. I also overuse prepromotes such that it's a problem, although lately I've been getting better at not abusing them massively.
