Minimum wage hikes cause significant harm to those they're ostensibly aimed at helping. For two, he wants to expand Social Security, when we really need to eliminate it. Seriously, it's FDR's worst legacy, and one of the reasons he was perhaps the worst president of the 20th Century (extending the Great Depression for years due to flawed economics is another, but this isn't about FDR). For three, he wants to fund all sorts of ridiculous things that there's simply no budget for, and for which government involvement in has already made the situation terrible (e.g. his promise of free college education). Balcerzak Posted May 4, 2016 Share Posted May 4, 2016 Getting people to actually pay their taxes would be easier if the current tax code was completely scrapped, and a simple flat tax instituted, with no loopholes deductions, etc. It's harder to hide fraud on the open plains than it is in a forest. Simply raising rates on the wealthy won't do anything, they can pay consultants to find ways to cheat the system without it impacting their bottom line. We spend too much on defense and are involved in too many military conflicts as is. There's no reason we can't trim some fat from the budget there. Alternative energy, etc. shouldn't need government incentives. Ideally investors would recognize the potential, and put their money behind the projects they think stand the best chances for success.
