That's indeed plausible considering children mature into adults much later in life than pretty much every species. I just wonder where the human race would be if it followed another model of living. While it's true that most conversations here only concern a limited amount of members, the others always have the possibility of joining or making a snide remark if they so wish. However, that obviously can't happen if said conversation is held through erase-edit wars. That would be a rather interesting way to live. Imagine if this was commonplace worldwide. Maybe it used to be commonplace, until somebody had a genial idea of making sure that the kid he was raising was his own?
