Oh hey, spotted a PSIII reference (Wren). Good thing I played far enough to get it.

Also, PSIV is a beautiful game.

I'd like Amelia to draw Bride!Rey and Tuxedo!Vincent though!

Someone tell her when she's on!

That would be great.

Maybe I will.

Actually, PS3's Wren and PS4's Wren are different characters - PS4's called Forren in the Japanese version

And considering the nature of PS3's setting, it'd be quite the issue if they were the same person

It really is

Not online. Before PSO, there were normal Phantasy Star RPG games.

Oh, is that so? So this is just a cool homage or something like that, huh.

Yeah, I was wondering about that...thought maybe he travelled to Algo or something.

Raja rocks.

...Wasn't there supposed to be some new KH game, now that I'm thinking about RPG?

That secret ending on 2, rocked and I totally forgot about it!

Edit: goddammit, it's for the PS4/Xbox One. FFS not what I needed...new systems

They're both male androids and look similar, but otherwise

Rika was originally supposed to be Nei though

PS3 happens 1000 years after PS4, in a far away place

It'd have been impossible

Chaz disagrees

Huh, that's interesting. She's cooler than Nei.

Really? Huh, I thought they took place at the same time.

Chaz has no sense of humour.

Nei gets no character development ;_;

I've heard both theories, but last time I checked "2000 years after PS2" was canon

But talking about references

What PS4 really has is PS1 references per minute

Though it has a number of subtle PS2 ones too

Being Chaz is suffering.

No one really does in PSII. But I still liked Rudo for being big and strong, and Kain for being cool. Actually, a lot of the characters were pretty cool, and I reckon playing those adventure games will make them even cooler.

Is that so.

Yeah, I noticed. It's pretty awesome. And then Ladea Tower's BGM...

Tyler.

It really is. Especially during that crash.

Well, at least PSII didn't need character development to tell a good story

Apparently.

While the dungeon themes are more obvious, something about the battle theme reminds me of PS1 too

\o/

Poor dude barely ever heard about space travel before

Yup. Character development is not a requirement for a good story. PSII had a pretty great one, minimalist as it was.

なるほど

The battle theme, huh. Can't say I've made that connection, myself.

It was a glorious reference.

Everyone else seemed to be totally ok with it though. Or more than ok in Rika's case.

I'd argue the minimalism made it better

Maybe it's just me

There are things like that all over the place - the Psycho Wand is PS1's Wand for instance

They all had their motives

That could be argued indeed.

We'll see.

Huh, that's pretty cool. I wonder if there's a chart somewhere listing all references since I sometimes don't remember the smaller things.

That they did.

There is beauty in making something good when you have few resources at hand

Perhaps

I remember seeing a TAS video focused on the references

Dude made a list, it was pretty huge and probably incomplete

And you haven't even gotten to the motive of one of them yet

There really is.

It is a possibility.

Hahaha, probably incomplete indeed. Seems like it's chock full of references.

HOW INTRIGUING. I guess I'll play some more...later.

Related to this, one of the people who made FF6 claimed that having hard limitations on what they could do was something positive

An improbable possibility, though

Many of them couldn't really be translated - like Flaeli

Why later, comrade

>Jeigan vs. Oifaye thread

>Person claims Oifaye is better than Jeigan, Arran, and Marcus6

>Lists Oifaye's skills as a reason he is better

Apparently people don't realize that most characters in the series essentially have pursuit and critical simply by way of the games' mechanics.
